WWE Fantasy Universe S1 Ep.1: Shut Your Mouth!

Welcome back to the WWE Fantasy Universe Season 1: Shut Your Mouth. If you haven’t watched the first episode, what are you doing here! Click on the link above and get yourself caught up. A brief recap of what happened in the last episode. We had a series of tournaments leading up towards Backlash where we crowned 7 new champions. Most notably, The Rock defeated The Undertaker by nefarious means to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. With both The Undertaker and Steve Austin looking for a measure of revenge after the events of the tournament, will The Rock be able to hold on to the championship for very long?

As the title suggests, not only are we building towards a PPV today, we are commencing with the very first WWE draft. Afterwards, we will begin talking about WWE’s trip overseas to the UK for Insurrextion.

WWE Draft

Vince McMahon assumes control over Raw whilst Smackdown is handed over to his daughter Stephanie McMahon. Whilst Vince claims he does not care about the talent as long as they put on a good show, Stephanie makes a point to say that she will not be running things how they are used to seeing her run things. She wants there to be fair opportunities and chances given to those who deserve it, not just because they demand it.

A couple of rules for the draft. The WWE champion cannot be drafted and will be able to appear on both brands. Should The Rock ever lose his world title, he will join the brand of who beat him whilst the new champion will become unbranded. All championships drafted to a brand will be brand exclusive, except for the Hardcore title and the Tag championships which are available to anyone. Teams & Stables are drafted together too.

Vince allows his daughter to have the first draft pick. Smackdown chooses…

Triple H! It makes sense that she would choose her husband. Will she play favourites or will she stick true to her word? Raw’s number 1 draft pick is…

Steve Austin! The Texas Rattlesnake is a proven megastar and a reasonable choice for pick number 1.

Vince & Stephanie go back and forth making their picks until everyone has been chosen. Below is what our final rosters look like.

Road To Insurrextion

Hollywood Rock

The Rock comes out on Raw with the Undisputed WWE championship around his waist and his finest $500 dollar shirt on. He says that the championship is in good hands, the biggest superstar that transcends wrestling. The Rock is the most recognisable man on the planet. WWE legend and Hollywood sensation. There is no one more deserving than him so there is no reason for anyone to challenge him. Glass shatters, here is Steve Austin. It doesn’t matter how famous or successful Rock is, to Austin he will always be a piece of trash and that is all he has to say about that. Austin says no one cheap shots the rattlesnake and gets away with it, if Rock had any guts he will put the title on the line against him tonight.

Out comes The Undertaker, he also doesn’t allow Rock to get away with his cheap shot at Backlash. Undertaker tells Austin to get in line because he wants first. Vince McMahon sees this as a perfect opportunity to have a blockbuster main event, Steve Austin vs The Undertaker with a title shot on the line. The main event is inconclusive however as The Rock lays both Austin and Undertaker out with his title and a Rock Bottom on the outside of the ring after a ref bump. He revives the referee who counts both men out of the match. The Rock thinks he has escaped without a challenger, but Vince informs him that he will be defending his championship against both men at Insurrextion.

The Rock tries to protest this decision and claim mistreatment of the biggest star in wrestling history. He is confronted by Hulk Hogan who knows all too well of the dangers of Hollywood. He warns Rock about being consumed by his ego, but Rock calls him a hypocrite. Hogan has been running wild with Egomania for nearly 2 decades. Rock calls Hogan an old fossil, providing no purpose anymore, but it doesn’t have to be this way. He leaves Hogan with something to think about, telling him the last time Hulk Hogan was cool or relevant was when he sold his soul to Hollywood.

Steve Austin and The Undertaker crash this segment targeting the Rock. Undertaker drops Rock with a Last Ride but turns around into a stunner from Austin. Austin stands face to face with Hogan, now this would be a dream match wouldn’t it? He asks Hulk if he wants to drink a beer with him. The show goes off the air with a beer bash but in Rattlesnake style, Austin drops Hogan with a stunner and poses.

The Top Guy

Triple H comes out on Smackdown and he brags about being picked first in the draft, not because of his ties to Stephanie but because of his undeniable talent. Because of this, he cannot think of a reason why he shouldn’t be the number 1 contender for the WWE championship. Interrupting him is Chris Benoit. Benoit says the fans are tired of seeing the same stars holding the championship. Triple H, Austin, Rock, Undertaker. They are all old news. It is time they step aside for the new stars to take center stage. Triple H praises Benoit as a wrestler but he doesn’t see him good enough to become a world champion. Benoit knows for a fact that he can out wrestle Triple H any day of the week.

They are both interrupted by Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero says there can not be any discussion about the best wrestler without Latino Heat. He and Benoit are good friends so he thinks highly of him, but he thinks of himself higher. Benoit reminds him that he defeated him in the tournament, but Eddie laughs this off. Guerrero questions how high Triple H would have reached without doing the dirty with the boss’ daughter? Triple H lunges at Eddie but he dodges, Benoit clotheslines him over the top.

Later in the show, Triple H demands a match with them from Stephanie and she obliges but asks if he wants a tag partner. He says no, but she thinks he is being foolish and has someone in mind. He again tells her not to give him a tag partner, but she reminds him that she is in charge, not him. Triple H, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero are in the ring for the main event, a handicap match seems to be in place but we hear the music of Brock Lesnar.

The team of Brock and Triple H defeat Guerrero and Benoit, with Brock doing a lot of the work. He is happy to demolish Benoit and Guerrero and not tag in Triple H at all. HHH and Lesnar tag themselves in during the match. After the win, Triple H gloats his victory but Lesnar grabs him and drops him with an F-5. He delivers F-5’s to Benoit and Guerrero too. Stephanie McMahon reveals that these 4 men will meet at Insurrextion with a shot at the WWE title on the line. Triple H approaches her backstage and asks why she won’t just give him a shot. She tells him that she doesn’t want to play favourites anymore, she wants to lead with dignity. He scoffs at that.

For Life

The nWo is still alive represented by Kevin Nash, X-Pac and Shawn Michaels. Nash wishes they were on the same brand as Triple H so that he can be a part of this. He suggests bringing Hogan back into the group but Michaels shoots it down as a terrible business idea. Michaels is feeling nostalgic and would like for him and Big Sexy to run it back like they did in the 90s. Nash thinks maybe they need to make a visit to Smackdown. Vince McMahon tells them he likes this plan and asks them to deliver a message to his daughter.

After the Dudley Boyz win a match against Billy & Chuck on Smackdown, we see the nWo enter through the crowd and head to the ring. They beat up the Dudleys and spray nWo on the tag championships. They leave through backstage where they are confronted by Stephanie for invading her show. The nWo say they do whatever they want to whoever they want. They pass on a message from Vince, in the form of pouring a bucket of water all over her. “Remember to stay hydrated.” They high five and walk off.

The Dudley’s are pissed and they want revenge, Stephanie agrees and tells them to go enact revenge the only way they know how. On Raw, the Dudley’s invade the show and attack the nWo putting them through tables. This sets up a cross brand match for the tag titles. Nash & HBK vs the Dudleys in a tables match.

Not My Champion

William Regal calls out Rhyno ahead of Insurrextion. He says only a European should be able to hold that title, Rhyno as champion is an insult to him and other Europeans. Regal demands Rhyno comes out and hand over the title. Rhyno comes out and Gores him.

On the next Raw, Regal comes out and tries a different strategy. He invites Rhyno out to partake in a British Citizenship test to see if Rhyno is even worthy to represent the UK never mind the whole continent of Europe. He asks him a series of British themed questions and Rhyno stays silent through all of it. Regal feels insulted and goes on another tirade of how Rhyno is unfit to be champion. Rhyno Gores him.

Next week, Regal tries again. He has a tea set out and demonstrates how to correctly pour tea, whilst he openly mocks Rhyno for being an uncultured brute. Rhyno comes down to the ring looking to Gore Regal again, but this time Regal breaks a teapot over his head and beats him down. Rhyno goes backstage and sees Vince who immediately know what he wants. He books Rhyno vs Regal for the title.

Fractured Relationship

Matt Hardy and Lita are celebrating together when Jeff walks by. He tries to speak to him about the tournament, but Jeff just brushes it off and says they’re cool. Matt suggests talking to Stephanie about a tag title match but Jeff gives a passive answer. Jeff leaves, Matt feels bad but Lita tells him he has nothing to feel bad about. Their goal was to bring a championship back and they did. They need to focus on getting Matt an opportunity at the IC Championship.

Trish Stratus approaches Jeff and empathises with him for his issues with his brother. Jeff just cannot understand why they couldn’t have just wrestled one on one fairly. He understands if Matt wants to break away and succeed on his own, but their relationship didn’t need to be damaged over it. Trish agrees and she theories that Lita has a role to play. Jeff denies it but Trish asks him to think. Lita has been more focused on herself being a champion and now she wants to bring Matt along excluding you. First it starts with Lita helping Matt cheat, but eventually Matt will operate that way on his own.

Trish Stratus earns herself a championship rematch with Lita and she asks Jeff for a favour. She knows Matt is going to be out there for Lita, so she wants Jeff out there too. She won’t ask him to interfere, but all she asks is for Jeff to ask his brother to keep things fair. Jeff thinks he can do that. Lita catches wind of this and tells Matt. Matt & Lita confront Jeff for supporting Trish but Jeff isn’t having any of it. If Matt and Lita want to take shortcuts to the top, fine, but Jeff won’t let their bad attitude impact his friends. As he walks away, Matt again looks remorseful but Lita looks pissed.

Diamond Dreams

Diamond Dallas Page congratulates RVD on his IC title win. DDP comes to him straight up and asks for a title opportunity. His career is on a timer and it was clear that he was not good enough to become a world champion, so the next best thing will have to do. RVD is unsure but DDP practically begs him for this, so RVD accepts. Booker T and Goldust confront them. If RVD is just giving hand-outs, then why don’t they give a title shot to either Booker T or Goldust. RVD tells them it is first come, first serve. Goldust doesn’t like that answer, but questions if they could have a match if DDP was suddenly “out of action”. DDP asks if that is a threat. RVD backs him up and sets up a tag match on Smackdown. Booker T and Goldust win after a miscommunication between DDP and RVD.

Rob isn’t happy about suffering a loss and tells DDP to raise his game if he wants any chance of beating him at Insurrextion.

Patriotism

Christian and Lance Storm are the Un-Americans and they berate the US whenever they get the chance. Out to interrupt them and mock them is an American hero, the Olympian, Kurt Angle. They trade jabs at each other, mocking the stereotypes of their respective countries. Kurt Angle proposes that Christian meets him in a match. Christian accepts but he refuses to wrestle him in America because he will have an unfair advantage. Luckily for them, Insurrextion will be on neutral ground in the UK.

Chris Jericho is repeatedly approached by Christian and Lance Storm to do the right thing for his nation and join the Un-Americans. Jericho says it is complex because he was born in New York, but brought up and raised as Canadian. Christian thinks for a second, but he says that won’t be a problem if Jericho is willing to publicly denounce his American heritage and promote Canadianism. Jericho doesn’t see any good reason to do that. Christian tells him to think about it, they will be there for him when he is ready.

Insurrextion

The WWE takes over the UK. Our opening match is a battle between USA and Canada, Kurt Angle vs Christian. I knew this would be a good match, but I didn’t expect this to be the best match of the night. This back and forth is full of big reversals, big moves and big kick outs. Early submission attempts by Angle are defended, Christian hits a brainbuster and a DDT for 2 counts. Whilst giving a beat down, Christian exposes a turnbuckle. Angle counters a throw into the corner but he is set up for a top rope back suplex which gets a near fall. Christian manages to counter the Ankle lock and hits a spear, but it only gets a 2.

Christian sends Angle into the exposed buckle but does not capitalize. Kurt Angle fires up with a series of belly to belly suplexes. He locks in the Ankle lock but Christian manages to survive. They trade big strikes and pin attempts. Angle counters an Unprettier and lands an Angle slam but Christian gets to the ropes. Christian hits another spear for a near fall. Angle dodges the Unprettier again, hitting a second Angle Slam to finally win the match.

Kurt Angle beats Christian in 12:06.

Next is for the IC championship, RVD defends against DDP. Page relies mostly on throwing punches at RVD, whilst RVD utilises his athletic kick heavy offence to wear down DDP. This is quite a competitive match, DDP manages to hit the Diamond Cutter but RVD gets to the ropes. Rob kicks DDP into the corner and sets up a Five Star Frog Splash to win the match. DDP looks incredibly dejected after his loss. He reluctantly shakes RVD’s hand and raising it before taking his leave.

RVD retains the IC title in 3:53.

Women’s Championship rematch next, Trish Stratus vs Lita. Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy are at ringside in their respective corners. Trish tries to wrestle a clean match but it doesn’t take long for Matt’s presence to be felt. He grabs at her foot upon Lita’s request to give her the advantage. Jeff shouts over at Matt to stop. Lita is in control, Trish manages to fight back but again Matt pulls at the leg. Jeff now walks over to Matt and argues with him but the referee cools them off and separates them.

The match continues, Matt tries to get involved again but the referee catches him doing it. Lita tries to grab her women’s championship but she cannot find it. Jeff Hardy is holding it saying “looking for this?” This distraction allows Trish to fight back into the match. Back in the ring though, Matt does manage to get involved again, saving Lita for a Stratusfaction. Lita hits a West Coast Pop to pin and retain.

Lita retains the Women’s title in 4:48.

Rhyno vs William Regal for the European championship. Regal manages to remain on top for most of this match, using strikes and various submissions to try and wear down Rhyno. Rhyno doesn’t land as many moves, but the ones he does are dealt with tremendous impact. William Regal might have actually had the match won at one point, he managed to lock in his Regal stretch but the referee was accidentally taken out and not there to check the submission. Regal later had a pin on Rhyno that the referee was down for too. William Regal sees no other option than to pull out the brass knuckles, but he gets countered and cut in half by an almighty gore for the champion. Rhyno defeats Regal in his home country.

Rhyno retains the European title in 8:38

The Dudleys defend their tag titles against nWo’s Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash in a tables match. D-Von and HBK grab themselves a table and bring it into the match immediately. This was a brawl as you would have expected. Lots of fighting and using the table as a weapon. Before the match really gets started, D-Von launches Michaels through a table and wins the match.

The Dudley’s retain the Tag titles in 2:19.

Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero compete for a shot at the WWE championship. A close second for the match of the night here. Brock Lesnar is the star here, an absolute beast launching all of his opponents around with ease. Triple H is equally as dominant and we have a brief one on one encounter between HHH and Lesnar.

The story of the match here is Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero working together to work over and take out Lesnar and HHH. They are seen as the underdogs in this match, even though they are vastly more experienced than Lesnar. Benoit and Guerrero save each other from falls throughout the match and never cross paths as opponents. Guerrero takes HHH out of the match after a Frog Splash through the announce table.

The finish sees Benoit lock Lesnar in a Crossface, Lesnar fights to his feet, transitions into an F-5 and they are both down. Guerrero is on the top rope and he decides to frog splash his friend Benoit, but he gets the knees up. Benoit then transitions into Crossface and makes Guerrero submit. After the match, Benoit and Guerrero stare down but Eddie extends a hand shake, telling him he was simply doing what he could to win. Benoit pulls Eddie in for a hug instead. Chris Benoit has a WWE championship opportunity.

Chris Benoit wins in 9:10.

Our main event is a triple threat. The Rock defends the Undisputed WWE title against Steve Austin and The Undertaker. Austin and Undertaker agree to beat Rock’s ass before going head to head for the world title. He stunners Rock, who flies into Undertaker’s arms for a Last Ride. Austin and Taker have a back and forth brawl, they counter each others finishers until Austin finally lands the stunner for the 1-2…Rock drags the referee out of the ring and clotheslines him.

Rock flips Austin off, so the Rattlesnake goes after him. Rock and Austin brawl up the ramp to the entrance way. Austin teases a piledriver on the stage, but he is attacked from behind with a chair. It is Hulk Hogan! Undertaker watches on from the ring. Rock wraps the chair around Austin’s neck as Hogan drops leg drop after leg drop over him. Hogan and Rock shake hands on the stage to a chorus of boos. They head down to the ring and double team Undertaker. Hogan & Rock hit a Leg Drop + People’s Elbow combo and Rock retains in the main event.

The Rock retains the Undisputed WWE title in 5:30.

The Rock and Hulk Hogan raise each other’s hand to close the show, Austin is attended to by paramedics.

Tune in next week to see what The Rock & Hulk Hogan have in store for the WWE as we head towards the next PPV, Judgement Day.
