OVERVIEW

Born in Havering, East London, Will Ospreay fell in love with wrestling after watching the legendary three-way match between AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe at TNA Unbreakable 2005. Trained at Lucha Britannia’s London School of Lucha Libre, he debuted in 2012 and quickly became the standout name of the British wrestling renaissance, tearing through Progress Wrestling and RevPro before the world came calling. It was NJPW that turned Ospreay into a global star. Recommended to the promotion by AJ Styles himself, he arrived in 2016 as a jaw-dropping junior heavyweight and evolved into one of the most complete wrestlers on the planet — bulking up, transitioning to the heavyweight division, leading the United Empire faction and capturing the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. His ability to combine breathtaking athleticism with genuine character work and ring psychology set him apart from his peers in a way few wrestlers ever manage. He holds the record for the most five-star matches in wrestling history as rated by the Wrestling Observer Bloody Slam, with multiple bouts breaking the six-star barrier. Widely regarded as the best wrestler in the world during his peak NJPW years, Ospreay signed with AEW in 2024 and continued delivering instant classics. Whether operating as a cocky villain or a beloved fighting champion, the Aerial Assassin remains the benchmark by which modern in-ring excellence is measured.
