Enzo Amore Reportedly Heading Back to WWE

Nearly eight and a half years after his controversial release, Enzo Amore appears to be on a collision course with a WWE return — and he may not be coming back alone.

The Latest Report

Per Fightful Select (May 25, 2026), sources close to Amore say independent promoters have been informed that he is no longer accepting the kinds of future bookings he would normally take. Those promoters are reportedly operating under the assumption that he’s headed to WWE.

The speculation gained traction earlier in May when Amore was reportedly spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando — typically a strong signal, as talent generally only turn up there if a return is already in motion or they’re under contract.

A Tag Team Reunion?

Two professional wrestlers in a ring; one is tall with a muscular build and short hair, wearing black wrestling shorts with 'BIG CASS' printed on them, while the other has a distinctive hairstyle and is wearing a flashy yellow jacket, holding a microphone and gesturing.

The bigger story may be that WWE reportedly has interest in reuniting Amore with his old partner Big Cass, currently wrestling in AEW/ROH as Big Bill. Per F4WOnline and Fightful, Bill’s AEW deal is expected to expire around late May or early June 2026, with his last televised match coming on the April 6 episode of ROH alongside Bryan Keith.

The internal belief, according to reports, is that both men still have strong relationships with WWE producers from their original NXT run together, and that the company’s tag team division — recently thinned out by post-WrestleMania cuts — could use the boost.

The Backstory

Enzo and Cass were one of WWE’s most over acts from roughly 2013 to 2017, riding the “Realest Guys in the Room” gimmick from NXT through the main roster before splitting in 2017. Enzo went on to become a two-time Cruiserweight Champion before WWE released him in January 2018 following sexual assault allegations. No charges were ever filed, and the case was reportedly closed due to lack of evidence — but the manner of his exit (the company stated he failed to disclose the allegations to them) has long been viewed as the biggest obstacle to any return.

Since then, Amore has worked MLW, TNA, and various independents under names including nZo and Real1. He and Cass last reunited publicly at the 2019 ROH G1 Supercard.

The Bottom Line

Nothing is officially confirmed, and no signing has been announced. But between Enzo’s Performance Center visit, the shrinking indie schedule, Bill’s expiring AEW deal, and WWE’s reported interest in reuniting the duo, the smoke around this one is getting harder to ignore.

Whether fans are ready to see Enzo back on WWE television — given the circumstances of his 2018 exit — is a separate conversation, and one WWE will almost certainly have to navigate carefully if and when this becomes official.
