MJF

Born into a Jewish family in Plainview, Long Island, Maxwell Tyler Friedman discovered professional wrestling early and trained at the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy in Hicksville, New York under Brian Myers and Pat Buck. He cut his teeth on the northeastern independent circuit before signing with Major League Wrestling, where he became the inaugural MLW World Middleweight Champion and announced himself as one of the most naturally gifted heels the business had seen in years. When AEW launched in 2019, MJF was there from day one — and he has been the promotion’s most consistently compelling character ever since. Armed with a poisonous mouth, a Burberry scarf, and an ego the size of Manhattan, he positioned himself as wrestling’s greatest villain, feuding with Chris Jericho, CM Punk, and Samoa Joe in matches that consistently overdelivered. His first AEW World Championship reign lasted 406 days, the longest in the title’s history. What makes MJF truly special is his ability to blur the line between character and reality. His promos operate on multiple levels simultaneously — the arrogant rich kid playing to the crowd’s hatred, but beneath it occasionally revealing a genuine vulnerability that makes the audience root for him despite themselves. He is already one of the most complete performers in wrestling — technically gifted in the ring, and utterly unmatchable on the microphone.
