FTR CONTRACT NEWS
Fresh off losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an “I Quit” match at Double or Nothing 2026, FTR’s long-term future with AEW has become a hot topic.
According to a report from BodySlam.net (carried by F4WOnline, 411Mania, WrestleTalk and others), Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler signed a four-year deal with AEW back in 2023, and the team is now approaching the option year of that contract.

A few key points from the reporting:
- Sources say FTR believe their consistency and value over the last several years should place them among AEW’s top-tier acts financially.
- WWE has reportedly shown “at least preliminary interest,” communicated through mutual contacts. That said, there’s no indication a jump is imminent, and WWE’s tag division focus is said to be primarily on internal rebuilding.
- Worth remembering: back in May 2023, Cash Wheeler publicly said the two would “probably be done” as full-time performers after their current deal expired. Whether that’s still their mindset hasn’t been confirmed.
So nothing’s decided yet — this is an option-year situation with leverage, not a departure announcement. But with the title reign now over and the timing of the report, it’s a story worth keeping an eye on heading toward the back half of 2026.
AYW’s Take
I don’t for a second believe FTR would wind up back in WWE. I know HHH is now in charge of creative, however they were booked so appallingly during their run there and the tag division is completely overlooked now, that I just can’t see it.
In AEW, they have far more creative control than they would ever have in WWE and tag team wrestling is valued highly. Let’s see what happens!
