WrestleMania 42? I know, I know. We haven’t even had WrestleMania 41 yet! But I want to get this down so that in a year, I can pull this article back up and say “ha! Told you so! I got everything wrong!”
In all seriousness, plans for WrestleMania’s usually are laid out (quite tentatively) a year in advance and then a slow build takes place.
So here we go. Where will we be in a years time? Will John Cena win his record title this year? I’m going to say…yes of course!
WrestleMania 41
Before we get going, Wrestlemania 41 is coming up and I’m going to say that John Cena (heel) and Jey Uso (face) will be the champions walking out.
World Heavyweight Title (Raw)
I believe Jey Uso will hold this title for a few months as he is red hot right now.
I’m sick of all the mega-long title Reigns though, so I’m going to have Jey drop the title at SummerSlam.
I would have Drew McIntyre return to Raw and give him a big win and a solid run until…
Royal Rumble. Jey is going to win it back and continue a mega-face run into WrestleMania 42.
Guess who is going to win the Royal Rumble though? Yep. Bron Breakker. He is a machine and if booked like a monster, I don’t see why he can’t be the next Lesnar.
I also realise that I have nothing for Drew or Gunther yet, so I’m going to throw them in as well. We will have a good ol’ 4-way match. So at WrestleMania 42, it will be Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker vs Drew McIntyre vs Gunther for the title and Bron will win, starting his dominant, beast-like run as champion.
The Mid-Card
Obviously, very tricky to predict. But that’s what I’m here for so I’m going to have a go.
Chad Gable will be our American hero and will hold the US title. I think he will then successfully defend the title at WM 42. Against? How should I know?? Oh right, I’m predicting. Well then, let’s go with a mega-babyface LA Knight.
I could see that being a fun feud. LA chasing the title going into WM and Chad getting out of there with a win.
As for the Intercontinental, I’m going to have Tozawa as champion (no, I’m kidding, relax).
I’ll have a not-surprising, multi-man ladder match for the title. Why not?
Let’s throw in loads of middlers.
Nakamura, Jimmy, Solo, Andrade, Miz, Braun, Ricky Saints (this is where I feel he will land on main roster) and a surprise entrant – Jeff Hardy.
Rey Mysterio
Rey is starting to wind down his WWE career. He has had an incredible career and I feel it would be fitting to give him a last match at WM42 against…his son, Dom.
Dom will be the heel going in, they will have an awesome match and at the end, emotions will be running high and they will embrace, turning Dom face.
Perfect send-off for a legend, and putting over Dom as a face.
Oba Femi
This guy is going to be a big deal in my future WWE so he is going to get called up around Rumble time.
Give him this year in NXT as a force and then Rumble time he can dominate and have a great showing. But be eliminated by…Jacob Fatu.
Those two monsters going at it at WM42? Take my money.
Tozawa
Everyone’s favourite wrestler Tozawa is predicted for big things this year.
He has already started this year off on a high, with an incredible showing against the champion, Gunther.
He unfortunately came up short this time, but that will set him on the path to greatness.
Errrm, maybe a tag match with Otis on the pre-show.
But WM43?!!? WATCH OUT! Tozawa is coming for you!!!
Women’s Titles
This is insanely hard to predict but what the hell, let’s have a go.
I’ll go with Chelsea Green for one of the main titles. She’s putting in some decent work at the moment, and I’m predicting she will continue on the same trajectory and win a big one at WM42.
The other main women’s title? Let’s go with…Kamille. completely out there prediction but hear me out.
I don’t want the same old Charlotte/Becky etc etc and I think everyone will be pushing for Roxanne Perez, so I’m going to go for someone new to WWE.
Kamille looks like she is done in AEW and she would fit right into WWE’s look and style. She could actually be what Jade was supposed to be. So Kamille is going to appear and destroy Jade, who will be champ leading into this one.
I know that I could also be very wrong about all of that! But hey, we’re predicting here. It’s all guesswork.
Tag scene
I think it’s safe to say Rey Fenix will be joining WWE soon so I’m going with Lucha Bros to be tag champs at WM42.
Going to make a wild prediction as well. I’m going to say the tag titles get unified and become one again and the champs appear on both shows. Do it Trips!!
I’m going here with a Lucha Bros defence, followed by the big DIY break-up with Ciampa losing it with Gargano. The two can then have a singles match at Backlash.

Owens/Zayn
Wasn’t too sure what to do here, so I’ve thrown them into a No DQ tag match with Priest & Balor. Zayn can remain the babyface and team with Priest. Balor and Owens are the heels.
Austin Theory
I feel Austin has a big future. He could be the new Cena. Yep, I said it. So, who better to get him over big time than…AJ Styles! This would be a banger – with the brief to get Theory over big time as a face.
WWE Title
So Cena turned heel (finally) and is aligned with The Rock. Now I have a dilemma here.
See, I want Cena to go on to WrestleMania 42 with the title, for reasons I’ll go into in a minute, but that requires him to be a heel.
And then that rules out him becoming a face and having a match against Rock later this year.
Hmmm. What to predict?
OK, so. Cena is going to keep the title until WM42 where he will have his final match against…TOZAWA.
No just kidding. It’ll be CM Punk. Punk wins the chamber and goes on to finally get his WM main event (for the title) against his old adversary.
The build between these two would be awesome and this would be a great way for Cena to go out. Flashbacks to the ‘Summer of Punk’ here, which was one of the best storylines in wrestling.
CM Punk wins the title and gets his WrestleMania moment.
As for Rock? Well he will have a match at WM42 against Roman. Roman will be pissed at Rock and go after him, leading to a WM match. Who will walk out as the undisputed Head of the Table?
Cody? He can go into a feud with Seth and they have a number one contender match. Cody will win, and will face Punk at Backlash.
Oh yeah, there will be no walkover PPVs from now on. Every PPV should make you feel like anything can happen and a title change could easily happen.
