Tonight, live on PPV, TNA presents the 22nd Slammiversary to celebrate their 24th anniversary live from the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts!

No Surrender match: Eddie Edwards def. Moose

On the January 22nd episode of TNA Impact, Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers kicked Moose and JDC out of The System and attacked them alongside their new recruits, Bear Bronson and Cedric Alexander. Eddie’s wife Alisha Edwards disagreed with this decision and left The System. Moose went on a revenge-fuelled rampage, wanting to defeat each member of The System in turn. Throughout the month of March, Moose picked up singles wins over Alexander, Myers and Bronson. At Sacrifice, Moose was set to take on Eddie but the match got thrown out with a quick DQ after Agent Zero attacked Moose. Eddie would go on to challenge Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship at Rebellion. During that match, Alisha came out to ringside injured and on crutches. Moose then arrived to expose Alisha as faking her injury and still working with The System behind the scenes. Moose then helped Santana overcome The System and retain his title. On the May 7th episode of TNA Impact, Moose teamed with Leon Slater to get a win over Eddie and Alexander, with Moose pinning Eddie. This match was made official on the June 11th episode of TNA Impact by the TNA Director of Authority, Santino Marella.

AJ Francis def. Elijah to gain ownership of his name, likeness and music

On the May 21st episode of TNA Impact, Francis asked Elijah about collaborating on music together. Elijah refused, stating he was a drifter and wanted to walk alone, with Francis retorting that Elijah would regret rejecting him. Two weeks later, Francis debuted a new song, “Walk”, featuring an opening guitar strum similar to Elijah’s and an album cover depicting Francis’s head being edited onto Elijah’s body. Elijah later came out and tried to expose Francis for this plagiarism but Francis instead served Elijah with a cease and desist order. He revealed he had bought the rights to Elijah’s brand and music from his manager, therefore basically owning Elijah. Francis then knocked out Elijah and laid the relevant legal documents over his body. On the June 18th episode of TNA Impact, a video package aired of Francis in the same style as the old VH1 documentary series “Behind the Music”, where he explained his reasons for buying the rights to Elijah’s music, stating that Elijah didn’t deserve to own them and mirroring a real life situation with Suge Knight and Death Row Records. The match was made official by TNA on June 22nd.

Open Challenge match: Mustafa Ali (c) def. The Home Town Man to retain the TNA International Championship

I have no idea who will actually answer this so this is a complete shot in the dark but no matter who answers the challenge, I expect to see Ali retain the title.

DemonXBunny (Allie and Rosemary) def. The Elegance Brand (Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance) (c) to win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship

On the May 21st episode of TNA Impact, The Elegance Brand found a message written on a mirror using lipstick that said “See you soon” and came from Allie, Rosemary and Mara Sade. On the June 11th episode of TNA Impact, Allie, Rosemary and Sade defeated Heather, M and Ash by Elegance. During the match, Allie, Rosemary and Sade hurt Ash by playing with a voodoo doll of her. Later that night, this match for the Knockouts Tag Titles was made official.

Xia Brookside def. Lei Ying Lee (c) to win the TNA Knockouts World Championship

On the April 2nd episode of TNA Impact, Brookside challenged NXT’s Arianna Grace for the Knockouts Title. Before the match, Lee, who was Brookside’s tag partner, played a message from Robbie Brookside (Xia’s father), wishing her luck. Despite this, Grace won the match and retained the title. At Rebellion, Lee then challenged Grace for the title. Near the end of the match, Brookside betrayed Lee by putting Grace’s foot on the ropes when a pin was being counted, leading to Grace retaining the title again. On the April 23rd episode of TNA Impact, Brookside blamed Lee and her father as the reason she was unsuccessful in winning the title and claimed it should have been her against Lee for the title at Rebellion. She claimed to feel pressured as a second generation wrestler and isolated due to a lack of support from her father. Lee explained that she never meant for Brookside to lose her title and she also felt lonely until they became tag partners. Brookside accepted Lee’s apology, admitting she felt supported by Lee and that NXT’s Channing Lorenzo had tried to convince her to join BirthRight. Brookside promised not to let the title come between them as best friends. However, she revealed her true feelings during a hug and she attacked Lee to the point where referees had to break up the brawl. On the May 7th episode of TNA Impact, Lee defeated Grace and won the Knockouts Title in match where Brookside was banned from ringside. Three weeks later, Brookside teamed with Elayna Black and Mara Sade to beat Lee and The Elegance Brand in a Champions Challenge match and Brookside pinned Lee to earn the right to challenge for the title. On the June 11th episode of TNA Impact, the title match was made official.

Ladder match: The Righteous (Dutch and Vincent) def. The System (Bear Bronson and Brian Myers) (c), The Hardys (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy), and The Great Hands (Jason Hotch and John Skyler) to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship

At Sacrifice, The System’s Myers and Cedric Alexander took on Jeff and Vincent. During the match, the titantron showed Dutch (Vincent’s partner) standing over a beaten and bloodied Matt (Jeff’s partner). The distraction allowed The System to take advantage of Jeff and beat him. On the April 9th episode of TNA Impact, The Hardys beat The Righteous in a Tables match to retain the titles. At Rebellion, Myers and Bronson beat The Hardys to capture the Tag Titles. On the April 16th episode of TNA Impact, Matt thanked Dutch for sacrificing him back at Sacrifice, claiming the “near-death experience” made him feel more alive. The next week, Dutch beat Matt and continued to attack him after while Vincent watched until Jeff came to make the save. Jeff beat Vincent the following week after Matt appeared using his “Broken” gimmick, shutting off the lights to help take out Vincent. On the May 21st episode of TNA Impact, Broken Matt fought Vincent while both Jeff, in his “Brother Nero” gimmick, and Dutch were handcuffed to the ring ropes. Vincent stole the handcuff keys but the lights went out and then Jeff reappeared under his “Willow” gimmick as the lights came back on. He struck Vincent with an umbrella and then the lights went out again as Jeff disappeared and the chaos allowed Matt to get the victory. On the June 4th episode of TNA Impact, The Righteous defeated The Hardys in a Wicked Garden match after Vincent forced Jeff to eat a lily of the valley, poisoning him before pinning Matt. On the June 11th episode of TNA Impact, TNA announced The System, The Hardys and The Righteous were announced for this title match. A week later, Vincent explained that he poisoned Jeff to show that legends can decay. He also claimed that The Righteous make The Hardys obsolete. Vincent talked about how they took care of The Hardys and now wanted to win the Tag Titles. That was when TNA’s Director of Authority, Santino Marella, made the announcement that the title match would be a Ladder match. The lights went out and Broken Matt’s laugh echoed through the arena. When the lights came back on, a ladder was in the ring with The Righteous. On the June 25th episode of TNA Impact, TNA’s Director of Operations, Daria Rae, made the decision to add The Great Hands to the title match.

Ultimate X match: Cedric Alexander (c) def. Amazing Red, Fabian Aichner, Frankie Kazarian, KC Navarro, Leon Slater and Mr. Elegance to retain the TNA X-Division Championship

On the May 14th episode of TNA Impact, it was announced that there would be an Ultimate X match for the X-Division Title at this PPV. Later that night, Alexander beat Slater in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match to win the title, bringing an end to Slater’s record-tying 298 day reign. The next week, TNA confirmed Slater as the first man in the match to challenge for the title. One week later, Kazarian hosted an edition of The King’s Speech with Alexander and Slater and he made the announcement that he would compete in the match after competing in the first-ever Ultimate X match in 2003. Navarro, Elegance and Aichner would also be announced for the match later on in the show. Three days prior to that, TNA announced Red would return to the company for the first time in 15 years. He was then announced as the final entrant into the match on June 15th.

Call Your Shot cash-in match: Nic Nemeth def. Mike Santana (c) to win the TNA World Championship

At Bound for Glory late last year, Nic and Frankie Kazarian became the co-winners of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, giving them both a cash-in opportunity for the World Title. On the November 13th episode of TNA Impact, Santana defended the title against Ryan Nemeth and during the match, Nic tried to cash-in his gauntlet shot but was attacked backstage by a mystery attacker. Santana and Ryan were then attacked by an invading group from NXT and after, Kazarian successfully cashed in his gauntlet shot and won the title. Santana would reclaim the title when TNA Impact debuted on AMC on January 15th of this year and he made Nic fail a second cash-in attempt. Santana then retained the title at Genesis against Kazarian, with Nic as special guest referee, in a Texas Deathmatch. After the match, Nic tried for a third time to cash in his opportunity but Santana put a stop to it once again. On June 7th, Nic announced that he would cash in his gauntlet shot ahead of time to challenge Santana at the PPV. On the June 11th episode of TNA Impact, Santana retained the title against Eric Young thus confirming this title match. One week later, Santana and Nic were given an ultimatum by TNA’s Director of Operations, Daria Rae, when they teamed with KC Navarro to face Order 4’s Mustafa Ali, Jason Hotch and John Skyler. Ali struck a deal with Rae that he could be added to the World Title match at the PPV if either Santana or Nic attacked each other during the tag match, despite Ali already being booked to defend his TNA International Championship in an Open Challenge at the PPV. If Santana were to attack Nic, the title would be vacated and Ali would face Nic for the vacant title; if Nic were to attack Santana, Ali would replace him as the title challenger. However, Nic, Santana and Navarro won without either man attacking the other but Nic would drop Santana with a kick during a brief altercation after the match.
