What If… Jeff Jarrett Never Leaves The WWF

On October 16th 1999, shortly after WWF’s head writer Vince Russo left the company, Jeff Jarrett’s contract expired and he was set to jump ship once again to the competition. World Championship Wrestling. Double J left the WWF in 1996 to join WCW for a year before returning to Vinnie Mac’s house of beef in 1997. Supposedly unhappy with his booking and financial return, Jarrett followed Vince Russo out of the door, no doubt promised to be made a world champion in his new place of employment. However, there was one major problem when it came to Jarrett’s WWF exit, at least in the eyes of the company.

WWF’s next PPV event, No Mercy, was scheduled for October 17th 1999 and Jeff Jarrett was scheduled to appear. Not only that, but Jarrett was the reigning Intercontinental champion and was poised to drop the title to Chyna in a historic moment for women in wrestling. Vince McMahon’s hands were tied and he had to come to an agreement with Jarrett to work the match. $200,000 and gifted stock options in WWF’s initial public offering was enough to satisfy Jarrett to go through with the match. Although many suspect this to have upset Mr McMahon, Jarrett asserts he was being paid what he was owed and the negotiations were amicable.

Jeff Jarrett would lead nWo 2000 in WCW and win several world championships before the company’s demise in 2001. But what if Double JJ was willing to resign with WWF? What if Jeff Jarrett re-negotiated his contract and stuck around for a couple more years? Well, here is how I would book that scenario.

Recap

I am going to pick up fantasy booking immediately following No Mercy, so here is a brief run-down of Jeff Jarrett’s run in the WWF up until this point.

Jeff Jarrett returned in late 1997 and led an invasion angle, leading the National Wrestling Alliance against some of the WWF’s midcard guys. That angle would only go on for a few months before Jeff Jarrett left the NWA stable managed by Jim Cornette.

After that, Jeff Jarrett reprised his Country singer gimmicks and feuded with D-Generation X alongside his new allies Southern Justice (FKA The Godwinns). This was another short-lived alliance as the trio would go their separate ways after losing to DX at Breakdown: In Your House.

Jarrett would form a tag team with Owen Hart and win Tag Gold. They were a good team together and showed incredible chemistry. Unfortunately, that would come to an end in May 1999 after Owen Hart’s tragic death at the Over The Edge PPV.

Jeff Jarrett would soon win the Intercontinental Championship and develop a misogynistic character, being physically and verbally abusive to his valet, Debra. He would target other female members of the roster and this included the Chyna. He would try to reinforce stereotypical gender roles by hitting Chyna with frying pans and dumping her in a laundry basket. It was incredibly sexist and understandably offensive, but it was effective heel work that set up a great moment for Chyna. The 9th Wonder of the World defeated Jeff Jarrett in a ‘Good Housekeeping’ match at No Mercy. Essentially a No DQ match featuring household items. Chyna defeated Jarrett for the IC championship, becoming the first and only female holder of the prestigious title.

Chapter One: The Third Man

Not Medically Cleared

We don’t hear or see from Jeff Jarrett after his monumental loss to Chyna at No Mercy in October 1999. We are looking ahead to the next PPV event, Survivor Series. If you remember, the advertised main event for Survivor Series 1999 was WWF champion Triple H vs The Rock vs Steve Austin. McMahon knew well in advance that Austin could not wrestle the show but kept him advertised as competing anyways. I think that was an unethical move, but I understand why they did it. There is a different way though.

So Mr McMahon books the marquee triple threat match for Triple H’s WWF Championship. He has been growing his feud with Triple H, both Rock & Austin are gunning for him and Vince says yes to them both as opponents. He tells Austin that he still hates him, but he might hate Triple H more and demands Rock & Austin get the job done.

Unfortunately for Austin, he gets viciously attacked by an unknown assailant on Raw a couple weeks before the event. Austin is convinced that Triple H orchestrated the attack, but Trips denies it. A doctor refuses to clear Steve Austin to wrestle and he will not be competing at Survivor Series. Austin says he doesn’t give a damn what a doctor says, he will be turning up at Survivor Series and taking back his WWF championship. He tries to hide the amount of pain he is in, but he is holding his neck and visibly limping. Whoever tried to take him made a mistake, they left Austin alive. Austin promises to whip any ass that gets in the way of winning the WWF championship.

Rattlesnake Roadkill

The Survivor Series main event is promoted as The Rock vs Triple H, however Austin is still advertised as appearing at Survivor Series. Vince McMahon tells Triple H on the last Raw before Survivor Series that one way or another, it will be a triple threat match, even if Vince has to go in there and kick Triple H’s ass himself. He guarantees that Triple H will not leave Survivor Series as WWF champion. A lot of mystery and intrigue heading into the PPV.

At Survivor Series, Steve Austin arrives at the arena ahead of the main event. He heads to the ring and says he doesn’t give a damn about a doctor’s note, he is here to whip some ass and become WWF champion. Triple H appears on the Tron and he is refusing to go out there and defend his title until Austin is removed from the building. Austin decides to head to the back and grab Triple H’s sorry ass and drag him out here. He goes to the back and tries to chase down Triple H. This ends up in the car park and Steve Austin is run down by a car. Triple H is at the scene as are other members of DX. Medical staff and security attend to Austin and eventually take him away in an ambulance.

(Doing things this way means you can still advertise Austin for the show but not piss off fans for removing him from the main event you promised.)

Main Event

The Rock and Triple H wrestle a competitive singles match for 10+ minutes. Jim Ross reminds us that Vince McMahon did say one way or another, there would be a triple threat here tonight. The Rock hits a Rock Bottom through the commentary table and both men are down. Vince McMahon appears and is dressed to wrestle. Jerry Lawler screams on commentary “Look JR, the boss said that this would be a Triple Threat, even if he has to do it himself!”

McMahon rolls Triple H into the ring. Since it is now seemingly triple threat, it is also now no DQ. He grabs a chair and hits Triple H with it a few times. He taunts too much though and a chair shot gets countered. Triple H whacks Vince with the chair. The Rock tries to enter and he gets whacked with the chair. HHH hits a pedigree on Vince and pins him to retain…or so he thinks.

A hurting McMahon says this match is still ongoing because Triple H did not pin a legal competitor of the match. “I’m not the third man Hunter, he is.” Running in from the crowd with a guitar in hand is Jeff Jarrett. Jeff destroys the guitar over the back of Triple H’s head. The Rock is still on the outside but Jarrett grabs a chair and deals with him. He beats Rock with it a few times and throws him over the barricade. Jarrett runs back into the ring with the chair. He positions the chair, drops Triple H with a move we know now as ‘The Stroke’ head first on the chair. Jarrett pins Triple H and just like that he is the new WWF Champion. Vince McMahon hands him the title and raises his hand in victory.

Chapter Two: The CHosen One

Slapnuts

The next night on Raw, Vince McMahon introduces the new champion. A man he personally chose to become the new face of the WWF. Introducing the new WWF champion, Jeff Jarrett! Double J gets new music and a new look, essentially how he looked when he returned to WCW in 1999. He calls himself The Chosen One. Not only is he chosen by Vince to lead this company into the new millennium. He was chosen from the day he was born to be the greatest thing in wrestling. He has already proved that, but now the WWF championship cements that fact.

Jeff Jarrett becomes the new favourite of Vince McMahon and receives preferential treatment over the following weeks. Jarrett is also questioned by Jim Ross if he is responsible for Austin’s attack, but Jarrett denies it. Jeff Jarrett blames Triple H and hopes he gets what he deserves. Triple H is absolutely livid about losing his title. Vince McMahon says Triple H will never get another title shot whilst he is around. They continue their rivalry, leading to the indecent proposal by Triple H to Stephanie McMahon and the No Holds Barred match at Armageddon. Steph betrays her daddy and helps Triple H win the match. It was a cool moment. The match does not main event the show and does not got nearly 30 minutes. It gets 10-15 minutes and is the second last match.

A Premature Ending

Jeff Jarrett is challenged by The Rock who feels screwed over by Jarrett’s addition to the title match at Survivor Series. The Rock wins a number 1 contender match on Raw to be next in line. At Armageddon, Jeff Jarrett retains the WWF championship against The Rock via nefarious means. Jarrett cheats using his guitar to get the victory over him.

With Vince McMahon taken out of the picture and no sign of Shane, the McMahon-Helmsley regime begins as they assume control of the WWF. They immediately use their power to book Triple H into a main event match on Raw against Jarrett for the WWF championship. Triple H defeats Jarrett after heavy interference from fellow DX members.

(I know, it is a short reign but the money match for Wrestlemania main event should be Triple H vs The Rock. Bear with me, lemme cook.)

The Royal Rumble

Triple H & Stephanie pit The Rock and Mankind against each other in the Pink Slip match, Mankind loses and gets fired from the WWF. The roster are in uproar but a returning Shane McMahon uses his power to rehire Mick Foley and put him in a world title match against Triple H at the Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, Jeff Jarrett is teased by the current Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho for losing his title so easily. He also mocks Jarrett for losing the IC title to Chyna, who Jericho was able to defeat for the championship.

Jeff Jarrett unsuccessfully challenges Jericho for the IC championship at the Royal Rumble. Triple H still beats Cactus Jack like in real life too. Both Jarrett & Jericho appear again in the 2000 Royal Rumble and make it towards the end. Jericho, Jarrett, The Rock, Big Show & Kane are the final five. Kane & Big Show try to eliminate each other, the other 3 men unite to flip both of them over the top rope. The Rock drops Jeff Jarrett with a Rock Bottom but double J rolls out of the ring. Rock and Jericho wrestle a mini 5 minute match. Jericho sets up the Lionsault, but mid-move Jarrett is back in the ring and destroys a guitar across Jericho’s face & chest. Jarrett throws Jericho out of the ring, leaving him and The Rock. Jarrett hits The Rock with The Stroke. He taunts Rocky and the fans, certain that he has won. He goes to throw Rock out of the ring, but it is reversed and Rock throws Jarrett out! The Rock wins the 2000 Royal Rumble.

CHapter Three: Wrestlemania 2000

Ahead of No Way Out, Jeff Jarrett and Chris Jericho continue to feud but both men have other rivals to deal with as well. Jarrett wants an Armageddon rematch with The Rock as he feels more deserving to main event Wrestlemania. Jericho meanwhile is challenged by the European champion Kurt Angle for a title unification bout. Angle defeats Jericho after a Jeff Jarrett interference. Later in the night, Jarrett tries to use the guitar on The Rock with the referee distracted but Jericho confiscates the guitar from him. The Rock goes on to defeat Jarrett and main event Wrestlemania.

Triple H defeats Cactus Jack at No Way Out like in real life, but the main event of Wrestlemania is changed to him defending against only The Rock. In the Wrestlemania main event, The Rock overcomes Triple H and the stacked deck to win the WWF championship.

The competition over the Euro-Continental Championship gets more concentrated. Kurt Angle is the reigning double champ, Chris Jericho wants a rematch, Taz defeated Angle at the Rumble and believes that warrants a championship match, Chris Benoit debuted and has his eyes set on the championships & Jeff Jarrett’s feud with Jericho has embroiled him in everyone else’s personal business. These 5 men are booked into a special ‘Euro-Continental Championship Challenge’. A special 4-fall match. All the falls are elimination falls, but the third fall is for the European championship and the final fall is for the IC championship.

Euro-Continental Challenge

The 5 talented men wrestle for 10+ minutes before the first fall. Taz locks in the Tazzmission on Angle, but the defending champion rolls backwards and traps him in a pinning position. Angle outsmarts Taz to eliminate him. Taz ain’t happy and he chokes out Angle who passes out. Jarrett pins an unconscious Kurt Angle. “We’re guaranteed new European and IC champions tonight!” Screams JR. Benoit, Jericho & Jarrett wrestle with the European title on the line. Kurt Angle regains consciousness and tries to go back to wrestle, not realising he was choked out and pinned. After hearing what happened, a pissed off Angle charges the ring. Jarrett is on the top rope preparing for a superplex. Angle hops up and drops him with a Super Olympic Slam. Jericho hits the Lionsault and pins Jarrett to become European champion. Jericho & Benoit remain, wrestling for 5-10 more minutes, Benoit pins Jericho to win the IC title.

Chapter Four: Chasing The Gold

After Wrestlemania 2000, The Rock’s celebration is interrupted by returning Vince McMahon. He says The Rock is no longer best for business. He will make sure that Jeff Jarrett reclaims his championship. Stephanie uses her power to book a championship rematch for Triple H at Backlash, so Vince adds Jeff Jarrett to it. Stone Cold Steve Austin will be returning to WWF at Backlash too. Shane McMahon expresses his support for The Rock as world champion and he will be the McMahon in his corner.

The People’s Champion

The main event of Backlash. The Rock (c) vs Jeff Jarrett vs Triple H. Vince McMahon is in Jarrett’s corner, Shane McMahon is in Rock’s corner and Stephanie McMahon is in HHH’s corner. All of the McMahon’s take their turn getting involved in the match. After DX run down and Triple H seems in firm control, glass shatters and Austin marches down the ramp. He drops all of DX and the McMahon’s with stunners. He stares down Rock, Triple H & Jarrett, flips them all off and tells them to fight. The 3 men brawl, Jarrett back-drops Triple H out of the ring. Rock and Jarrett go counter for counter until Rock catches him with the Rock Bottom and wins the match.

The Rock and Triple H continue their championship feud into Judgement Day and have their Iron Man match. The Undertaker does return but he actually helps The Rock retain the championship. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon is starting to doubt Jeff Jarrett, he has been disappointed “considering what I have done for you”. Competition brings out the best in people. He has had his eye on another rising star in WWE and maybe they should be the chosen one. He wants them to spend time with each other and see if they can both ascend and prove their worth. The man in question is Kurt Angle.

An UnEasy Alliance

Kurt Angle & Jeff Jarrett are already not fond of each other after their mini Wrestlemania feud, plus neither man have much in common. Angle tries to make the best of it, attempting to play guitar and listen to country music but Jarrett thinks Angle is trying to outshine him at every turn. At Judgement Day, Jarrett & Angle try to prove their ability against the Hardy Boyz. They are more focused on proving themselves as the superior wrestler rather than being a team. However, they’re individually good enough to get the win. Jarrett has a figure four locked in on Jeff Hardy but doesn’t realise Angle tagged himself in. Angle lands a moonsault on both Jeff’s legs. He locks in an Ankle Lock on Jeff and makes him tap out. Angle & Jarrett win but they’re not on the same page at all

The constant one upmanship continues ahead of King of the Ring. Of course both men declare for the King of the Ring tournament and they both reach the finals. Angle defeats Dean Malenko & Chris Jericho on the way to the finals, whilst Jarrett defeats Perry Saturn & Rikishi. Angle and Jarrett wrestle a competitive match but it is the Olympian who defeats Jarrett and wins the KOTR tournament. Meanwhile in the world title picture, Shane McMahon betrays The Rock and aligns with his sister to join the McMahon-Helmsley regime. He enlists the help of the Radicalz, promising them world championship opportunities if they help get the title from Rock. The big main event sees The Rock team up with the Brothers of Destruction to take on Triple H, IC champion Chris Benoit & Eddie Guerrero. The heels get the win with Benoit scoring the pinfall over The Rock.

Two-Time Champ

These feuds all continue into Fully Loaded with the card looking like this; The Rock successfully defends his WWF championship against IC champion Chris Benoit, Triple H defeats The Undertaker with help from DX, Jeff Jarrett gets a cheap victory over Kurt Angle. Jarrett knocks Angle out with the guitar and locks in the figure four. The referee calls for the bell because Angle isn’t responding.

At Summerslam, Kurt Angle is the scheduled challenger for The Rock’s WWF title after winning the KOTR. However, Jeff Jarrett and Triple H are lobbying to be added into the match. After weeks of interferences, attacks and ambushes, Linda McMahon comes out and lays down the law. She books a Fatal Four Way for the main event. The Rock defends against Triple H, Kurt Angle & Jeff Jarrett. In the lead up, Mr McMahon publicly voices his concerns about Jarrett and he puts his bets on Kurt Angle. He wants them to work together and set up an easy victory for Angle. Kurt starts calling himself ‘The True Chosen One’.

The Fatal Four Way is a competitive one. Kurt Angle looks poised to get the victory. Mr McMahon has Jarrett’s guitar and goes to hand it to Kurt, but he swerves him and breaks it across his head. Jarrett takes advantage, hitting Angle with The Stroke and becoming a 2-time WWF champion.

Chapter Five: Reign Of The CHosen One

A New Alliance

Mr McMahon celebrates with Jeff Jarrett on the Raw after Summerslam and he invites the McMahon-Helmsley regime out for a discussion. He thinks that it is time that the McMahon family becomes whole again and rules over the WWF like they should. Jeff Jarrett and Triple H take turns praising each other’s ability, although Jarrett still holds resentment for HHH politicking an unfair title match that ended his first reign prematurely. Triple H offers to call a truce as long as Jarrett and Triple H agree to wrestle a 1v1. No interference or bullshit, just a contest of who is the best wrestler for the top prize. Jarrett and Triple H shake hands. The McMahon-Helmsley regime becomes stronger.

Not only do The Rock and Kurt Angle have a problem with this, but so do the Radicalz. Shane McMahon lets them down by saying that plans have changed and there will be no title opportunities for them. The Radicalz are out for revenge too.

Linda McMahon appoints Mick Foley as commissioner to try to combat the McMahon-Helmsley regime. Foley says no one wants to see Jarrett vs Triple H, but he doesn’t know who should challenge Jarrett. He books a mini tournament to determine a new contender. We have Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit vs Triple H, as well as The Rock vs The Undertaker vs Chris Jericho. Chris Benoit and The Undertaker win their respective matches. The Undertaker has his match against Benoit won, but an interference from Triple H costs Undertaker the match. The regime see Undertaker as a greater threat than Benoit.

The Return

Recent events spin off into a few feuds to take place over the next few months. The Unforgiven card features; Jeff Jarrett retaining the WWF championship against Chris Benoit. The Rock and Chris Jericho wrestle, blaming each other for losing the contender match. Triple H vs The Undertaker after HHH cost him the contender match. Kurt Angle doesn’t have a match but he has been developing a close relationship with Stephanie. He does her a favour and runs in to help Triple H win, but he botches the attempt and costs him instead.

Unforgiven also saw the return of Steve Austin properly. He comes out and meets with Foley who reassures him that the investigation into his attack is already ongoing. Steve Austin promises his presence will be felt tonight. Austin appears throughout the night and has intense confrontations with The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, The Undertaker, Kane and all of the McMahons. He knows that one of these guys tried to take him out. Justice will be served. Austin has stunners for all of these guys after they finish their matches. He puts them all on notice.

Chapter Six: Who Hit Stone Cold?

The following Raw, Steve Austin is confronted by The Rock. He knows that they have had their ups and downs but he promises he had nothing to do with it. If he wanted to take Austin out, he would do it like a man face to face. Austin believes him and tells him he looks forward to kicking his ass down the line once again. Austin’s biggest suspect is Triple H and he targets him first, leading to a match between the two at No Mercy. It is revealed in the lead up by Triple H himself that he did indeed attack Steve Austin on the Raw before Survivor Series. He admits wanting to take Austin out of the Triple Threat. However, he was not the guy who ran him over in a car. He would never do such a thing. Austin calls bullshit and beats his ass. Meanwhile, Kurt Angle gets on the wrong side of the Undertaker as both men are pushing for a WWF title shot of their own. They will face off at No Mercy with WWF champion Jeff Jarrett playing the role of referee.

Hunting The Game

Kurt Angle & The Undertaker both come close to winning the match, but Jarrett is slow to counter both men’s pinfalls. Mick Foley comes out and argues with Jarrett for his refereeing. Undertaker has a pin on Angle whilst they argue. He goes out and goozles them both, demanding they do a better job. Foley forces Jarrett to referee properly or face them both in a triple threat match. Later in the match, a run-in from Stephanie McMahon with mace to Taker’s eyes allows Angle to get a cheap victory. Jeff Jarrett seems pissed that an ally of his helped Angle, now his future opponent. A backstage segment shows an argument develop between Triple H, Stephanie McMahon & Jeff Jarrett. Double J seemingly walks out of the building and tells HHH he is on his own against Austin.

Steve Austin & Triple H wrestle a No Holds Barred match. They are kicking the blood and piss out of each other. Austin delivers an ass whooping and it appears that he is going to win the match but Stephanie pulls him out of the ring. Austin teases a stunner, Jeff Jarrett emerges with the guitar looking to make the save, but he misses, bashing Stephanie over the head instead! Triple H looks on in fury, Austin takes out Jarrett and then finishes off Triple H with a stunner to win the match. Austin’s celebration is cut short by Jarrett who bludgeons him. After delivering a serious beatdown, Jarrett drops the bombshell that he was indeed the guy who ran Austin over.

New Champion

On the next Raw, Jeff Jarrett confirms he ran over Steve Austin last year. He was provided with an opportunity that he could not turn down. Vince McMahon steps out and reveals that he was the one who orchestrated. “Did you really think for one second I would ever let that dirty, rotten Rattlesnake hold MY WWF championship? No chance in hell.” Kurt Angle comes out and says that he will get his match next week and it will be a submissions only match. Triple H and Jeff Jarrett continue to have issues. The Game felt like Jarrett should have told them he was responsible for the attack, he took all the heat for that. Jarrett tells Triple H to do a better job keeping his woman in line and out of his business.

Angle & Jarrett wrestle an even contest for 10-15 minutes, Jarrett of course tries to cheat but the glass shatters and Steve Austin comes for revenge. He drops Jarrett with a stunner, Angle locks in the Ankle Lock and makes Jarrett tap out. Kurt Angle becomes the WWF champion. The Undertaker felt screwed out of his contender match and he set himself up to be Angle’s challenger at Survivor Series. Steve Austin promises to destroy Jeff Jarrett and targets him each week until he gets a match with him at Survivor Series.

Revenge

At Survivor Series we see Kurt Angle retain against The Undertaker and Triple H defeats Chris Benoit. Steve Austin is kicking Jeff Jarrett’s ass but Mr McMahon makes himself present and Austin cannot resist going for him. The distraction allows Jarrett to knock Austin out and pin him. Post-match, Vince gives Jarrett handcuffs. He restrains Austin and bloodies him. Jarrett manages to escape Survivor Series in one piece.

Kurt Angle gets into feuds with The Rock, Chris Jericho & Triple H heading towards Armageddon with the Undertaker still setting his sights on Angle. While those 5 men compete over the WWF championship at Armageddon, Steve Austin & Jeff Jarrett close the show in a Hell in a Cell match. After weeks of insults, attacks and intensity, Jarrett will have to deal with Austin on his own. Austin gets revenge in this match, kicking ass and eventually winning the match. During the match, Mr McMahon tries to enter the match and help Jarrett win but it backfires. Austin locks the chairman in the cell with him and he beats his ass. Austin leaves Armageddon getting another measure of revenge over Vince and getting even with Jarrett.

Chapter Seven: Honouring A Friend

The Road To Wrestlemania

The route to Wrestlemania is similar for most. Steve Austin wins the Royal Rumble, defeats Triple H at No Way Out and then faces WWF champion The Rock at Wrestlemania X-Seven. Kurt Angle retains his WWF championship against Chris Jericho at Royal Rumble but drops it to The Rock at No Way Out. Angle goes on and faces The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred match at Wrestlemania.

The relationship with Triple H and Jeff Jarrett has been deteriorating but they decide to find a way to get back on the same page. Triple H and Double J team up and defeat Edge & Christian for the WWE Tag Championships. Both men are feeling good and claim they are going to win the Royal Rumble match. HHH & JJ are in the Rumble at the same time. They have a face to face before teaming up to dominate the Rumble match. They work together to beat down Austin, Undertaker, Kane and others. The final 4 of the Rumble is Steve Austin, Triple H, Jeff Jarrett & Kane. Trips & Jarrett try to double team Kane and eliminate him. Stephanie is out there and she tries to help too, but she misses Kane and slaps Jarrett by mistake. Jarrett grabs her, Triple H gets involved and they shove each other around. Kane eliminates both of them at the same time. Jarrett & Triple H are separated by officials from getting properly physical.

A Personal Game

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon attempt to make it up to Jarrett with a new car and convince him to stay allied with their regime. They drop the tag titles to the Dudley Boyz on Raw, post-match Triple H assaults Jarrett with his own guitar and beats the crap out of him. Triple H dumps Jarrett and takes back the keys to the car he bought him. He says Jarrett no longer serves them much purpose. Jeff Jarrett targets Triple H but Stephanie calls the police on him and has Jarrett arrested and removed from the arena.

That same show, Triple H gets personal and invites Jeff’s father Jerry Jarrett out and forces him to say horrible things about his own son to avoid a beat down. Jerry calls Triple H the better wrestler and that his son is a disappointment. After all is said, Triple H decides to attack Jerry anyways and hits him with a sledgehammer. Jerry is rushed away in an ambulance. Jeff Jarrett knows he hasn’t always been a favourable guy to the fans, but everything he says and does is for the value of entertainment. Wrestling is a business to him, but Triple H likes to make it personal. Jarrett is willing to make it personal too.

He knows that Triple H and some of his “boys” are responsible for a lot of deserving talent going under-appreciated in the WWF. Jarrett was one of them, he managed to find a way to burst through the ceiling but not many who deserve it manage that. At Wrestlemania, he will take down Triple H and the regime not just for himself and his father. He will be doing it for wrestlers like Bam Bam Bigelow, Shane Douglas, The British Bulldog & Owen Hart.

In Memorium

Wrestlemania X-Seven, Jeff Jarrett has Owen Hart inspired ring gear. Triple H heels it up as he and Jarrett wrestle a classic NWA style throwback match. They take each other to the limit, Jarrett repeatedly honours Owen Hart using his signature offence like the spinning double heel kick. Jeff Jarrett uses a Sharpshooter which he transitions into a Figure Four on Triple H. The Game fights and holds on, but he passes out to the pain and the match is called off. Jeff Jarrett wins at Wrestlemania X-Seven and he points to the sky towards his fallen friend that he misses dearly.

I am going to leave it there for rebooking Jeff Jarrett if he never left WWF. I gave him 2 world championship runs and a series of high profile feuds and matches. He gets a soft face turn and is able to honour his close, late friend Owen Hart in a victory over Triple H at Wrestlemania X-Seven.
