Royal Rumble ‘07 (1/28/07)

Royal Rumble Match – The Undertaker wins the Royal Rumble Match by lastly eliminating Shawn Michaels || (56:00)

kurt

We kick this timeline off at Royal Rumble 2007 and the Royal Rumble Match is going on. Entrant 21 is about to come out and suddenly we hear “Medal” by Jim Johnston throughout the arena and the fans at the AT&T Center lose their minds.

Kurt Angle makes his return to WWE. We haven’t seen him since mid-2006. He comes into the ring and gives everyone a German Suplex. German for Edge, German for Orton, German for Punk, German for RVD, he eliminates Viscera on his own.

He immediately eliminates Hardcore Holly when he comes out. Kurt is a wrestling machine. He lasts until the final 5 before getting eliminated by the duo of Edge & Randy Orton.

On the following episode of ECW, Kurt Angle said during his time away, it made him realize how much he missed this. He says when he heard that crowd at the rumble, it made him feel ALIVE!!

And now that he’s back, he wants gold, specifically the ECW Championship. For the next few months, Angle would continue to get win after win after win and then beats RVD for the #1 Contendership for Bobby Lashley’s ECW Championship.

And if you are wondering who takes Lashley’s position for Battle of the Billionaires, let’s say Ric Flair.

WrestleMania 23 (2007)

ECW Championship – Kurt Angle def. Bobby Lashley(c) (14:31)

kurt

Kurt Angle has finally won the one World Title in WWE he hasn’t won up to that point. He has won the WCW, WWE, World Heavyweight and now finally the ECW Championship.

In the build to Backlash, Bobby Lashley uses his rematch clause for the ECW Championship at Backlash and since it’s for ECW Championship. For the EXTREME Championship Wrestling Championship. It’s an Extreme Rules Match

Backlash ‘07 (4/29/07)

ECW Championship – Extreme Rules Match – Kurt Angle(c) def. Bobby Lashley (15:54)

kurt

This match is just weapons galore. Angle would hit 2 Angle Slams but Bobby kicked out of both of them. Angle then would lock in the Ankle Lock and this would last for 3 minutes until eventually, Lashley passes out.

Kurt Angle celebrates his win when he realizes Lashley is hurt badly. Lashley can’t put weight on his left ankle. As Kurt Angle is trying to help, Kevin Thorn, Marcus Cor Von, and Elijah Burke of the New Breed attack Lashley and Angle.

After the attack, Elijah Burke would hold up the ECW Championship and leaves with it

The following episode of ECW, Angle comes out and is rightfully pissed off. He demands the New Breed to come out and give him back HIS ECW Championship.

Burke comes out and tells Kurt it wasn’t gonna be this easy. Thorn and Cor Von come from behind and attack Angle. Lashley tries to make the save but the numbers game are too much. Not to mention, his ankle is in bad shape.

Elijah Burke would put Bobby’s Ankle in the chair and then stomps on it. Sending him away for a few months until he gets drafted to Raw.

On an episode of ECW in May, we would get Kurt Angle vs Elijah Burke for the ECW Championship. This match is pretty competitive and not to mention, Burke has the New Breed in his corner.

When it looks like the numbers game is too much, “This Fire Burns” by Killswitch Engage plays and out comes CM PUNK! He comes out with a steel chair and runs off Cor Von and Thorn, allowing Kurt Angle to hit the Angle Slams for the win

WWE ECW (5/08/07)

ECW Championship – Kurt Angle def. Elijah Burke (11:19)

Angle is celebrating but Burke low blows Angle right in his Olympic Gold Medals. He would steal the ECW Title right back and then run off through the crowd

It is announced that at Judgement Day, it will be Kurt Angle and CM Punk will team up to take on the New Breed in a 3 on 2 Handicap Match.

However, on the Go-Home Show, during a brawl between Punk, Angle and The New Breed, The Babyfaces are able to get Kevin Thorn alone in the ring. CM Punk would hit the GTS on Thorn and then Angle would lock in the Ankle Lock and eventually, breaks Thorn’s ankle.

This means the match at Judgment Day will now be a normal tag match.

Judgment Day ‘07 (5/20/07)

Kurt Angle & CM Punk def. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von (12:21)

kurt

The finish of this match comes when Elijah Burke grabs the ECW Title and looks to hit Angle with it when Punk makes the save and hits Burke with the Go To Sleep.

Angle would lock in the Ankle Lock on Cor Von and Punk would lock in the Anaconda Vice. Cor Von is the win to tap out, Kurt and Punk win

Punk would grab the ECW Title and just stares at it, then gives it to Angle. And while Angle gives Punk a funny look, he shakes and raises Punk’s hand as a sign of respect.

The following Episode of ECW, Angle says he respects Punk and wants to grant him an ECW Title Shot at One Night Stand.

Burke comes back out and says if Punk never came out, he would have been the new ECW Championship and challenges Punk for the #1 Contendership. Punk, the babyface of course, accepts.

The main event of the same night, it’s CM Punk vs Elijah Burke for the #1 Contendership for Kurt Angle’s ECW Championship. And Punk would win. The show ends with a staredown between champion and challenger.

The Following Week

The following week, we get a contract signing because it’s the go-home show. Yes, it’s the go-home show because apparently, One Night Stand had a TWO-WEEK BUILD! Anyway, we get the contract signing and Punk says he respects the hell out of Kurt Angle.

He especially respects Angle for getting clean. However, he wants a special stipulation for this match. He not only, he wants to beat Angle, he wants to beat Angle at his own game. That’s why he suggests the match at One Night Stand, should be an Ultimate Submission Match.

Angle says while he respects the hell out of Punk, that is the stupidest thing he’s ever done. Bit of comedy there. Anyway, Angle does accept. Both sign the contract and there is actually no brawl all they do is shake hands but you can tell there is still tension

Second City Saint vs. Olympic Gold Medalist. Straight Edge Superstar vs The Wrestling Machine. CM Punk vs. Kurt Angle for the ECW Championship. Ultimate Submission Match, THIS SUNDAY ON PPV!

One Night Stand ‘07 (6/3/07)

ECW Championship – Ultimate Submission Match – Kurt Angle(c) def. CM Punk (2-1) (30:00)

Can I just mention how this is the most prestige the ECW Title has had and this timeline is not even real. 5 minutes into the match, Angle locks in the Ankle Lock and Punk immediately taps out.

Not because he was in pain, but he knows how dangerous that Ankle Lock is and he doesn’t wanna be locked in it for long. About 15 minutes in the match, Punk is able to lock in the Anaconda Vice and Kurt passes out.

Not tap out, pass out. The score is now 1-1. We are 1 minute and 30 seconds left and Angle is about to hit the Angle Slams and then lock in the Ankle Lock. 1 minute left, Punk hasn’t tapped, 30 seconds left, Punk hasn’t tapped, 20 seconds left. 10….9….8…7…6…5…4…3…PUNK TAPS OUT!…2…1..BELL RINGS!!

Kurt Angle retains the ECW Championship.

After the match, even though Punk isn’t as hurt as Lashley, He is still hurt. Punk still put his hands out and Angle shakes it.

Alright, now this is about to get a little dark, instead of CM Punk vs Chris Benoit like what would have happened IRL, in this timeline, it would have been Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit for the ECW Title at Vengeance : Night Of Champions. Which would have been a MOTY candidate. They actually haven’t had a one on one match since 2003 which is wild. But, as you know, that isn’t possible for reasons I don’t wanna get to. So, instead, Kurt Angle issues an open challenge for the ECW Championship. And like in IRL, Johnny Nitro answers the challenge.

Vengeance ‘07 (6/24/07)

ECW Championship – Johnny Nitro def. Kurt Angle(c) (11:00)

This match is surprisingly short because tbh, not every match needs to go nearly 20 minutes. The finish would come when Angle rolls up Angle and puts his feet on the ropes to get the 3, the crowd is shocked.

Angle is shocked, the commentators are shocked, the ref is shocked, even Nitro is shocked as the ref gives him the ECW Title. And while Nitro’s surprised face turns into arrogance, Kurt turns in to Angle and starts arguing with the ref that Nitro has his foot in the ropes but the ref’s decision is final.

Later in the show, we see Kurt Angle irate, looking for Vince McMahon. He eventually knocks out road agents and security.

It is announced that Kurt Angle is suspended until further notice.

Fast Forward to the July 20th episode of Smackdown, and on that night, Edge vacates the World Heavyweight Championship due to getting a torn pec due to an attack from Kane like IRL.

Also like IRL, we have a Battle Royal for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. However, the final entrant of the battle Royal is a returning Kurt Angle ala 2006.

It turns out, Kurt Angle and WWE made an agreement for him to go to Smackdown.

So instead of The Great Khali winning the World Heavyweight Championship, thank god. Kurt Angle wins. After being out of the ring from being knocked out for God knows how long, Angle quickly gets in the ring and eliminates both Kane and Batista.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown (7/20/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Kurt Angle wins a Battle Royal by lastly eliminating Kane and Batista (24:06)

Kurt Angle is celebrating like he just became the president when Smackdown GM Theodore Long comes out and congratulates Angle for winning the World Title.

However, he says that Angle still needs a challenger for Great American Bash and he was gonna have the challenger be whoever Angle eliminated last to become champion.

But since Angle eliminated both Kane and Batista at the same time, it will be a Triple Threat Match at Great American Bash for the World Heavyweight Championship.

We get to Great American Bash and we get Kurt Angle vs. Batista vs. Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship.

At the end of the match, Batista is able to power Kane up for the Batista Bomb. But, Kurt Angle takes Batista out of the ring and steals his pin.

Great American Bash ‘07 (7/22/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Kurt Angle(c) def. Batista and Kane (13:10)

Once again, Kurt Angle is over celebrating. Angle very arrogantly puts out his hand for a handshake. Batista, reluctantly, shakes it.

The following Smackdown, Batista beats Kane to become the #1 Contendership for the World Heavyweight Championship.

During thus build, Angle becomes more cocky and arrogant and during the contract signing, they finally come to blows with it ending with Batista hitting a spine buster during the announcers table.

SummerSlam ‘07 (8/22/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Kurt Angle(c) def. Batista (16:32)

Here we go, The Animal vs The Wrestling Machine. I believe IRL, these two never wrestled one on one, at least not in a big match situation so this is a borderline dream match.

At the end of the match, Kurt Angle locks in this Ankle Lock. It is locked in for about 3 minutes and like Lashley, Batista passed out.

But this time, Angle doesn’t let go. He has to be pulled off as the crowd starts to boo. Angle finally lets go and just smiles.

In the build for Unforgiven, Kurt Angle needs a new challenger and who better than the best friend of Batista, Rey Mysterio.

Unforgiven ‘07 (10/07/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Kurt Angle(c) def. Rey Mysterio (17:54)

This match is just a longer version of their classic at Summerslam 2002. Kurt Angle, of course, wins after the Angle Slam.

After the match, Kurt Angle is about to lock the Ankle Lock. When suddenly, GONG!! The lights go out and come back on.

It’s the Undertaker, who just came back earlier in the show beating Mark Henry, he Chokeslams Angle all the way to hell.

In the build-up to Cyber Sunday, Undertaker wants the World Heavyweight Championship. Kurt Angle says he has to earn it, Teddy Long comes out and announces Undertaker will be one of 3 people the WWE Universe can vote on to find out who will challenge Kurt Angle for the WHC.

The wrestlers are Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, and Kane. Kurt Angle is nervous because he knows if the fans vote Undertaker, there could be a chance he loses his title.

This next bit will be a bit of comedy but Kurt Angle tries to hire a hacker to get into the voting website to try to sway the fan vote to Rey Mysterio, but that ends up backfiring as he still has to face The Undertaker.

Angle is furious. So it will now be Kurt Angle vs The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Cyber Sunday ‘07 (10/28/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – The Undertaker def. Kurt Angle(c) via DQ, therefore Kurt Angle retains the World Heavyweight Championship (20:27)

Yeah Yeah, I know. A DQ on a PPV is not ideal but I got my reasons. You see, at the end of the match, Kurt Angle tries to grab his title and walk out of the arena but suddenly, Batista music hit and Angle has wide eyes as Batista attacks Kurt Angle, causing a DQ.

Undertaker, obviously pissed off, double Chokeslams Angle and Batista.

So, Batista has a grudge with Angle, Taker has a grudge with both Angle and Batista, Angle doesn’t want anything to do with this. You know where this is going. HELL IN A CELL! The rest of this build, is basically just Angle trying to avoid Taker and Batista.

Survivor Series ‘07 (11/18/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Hell In A Cell Match – Kurt Angle(c) def. Batista and The Undertaker (24:20)

For the first 5 minutes of this match, Kurt Angle is just trying his best to avoid Taker and Batista. However, they are able to get him alone in the ring and just beat the crap out of him. Then they start fighting each other because it’s every man for himself.

Like IRL, Edge returns after being on the injured list for 4 months attacking both Undertaker and Edge, leading to Kurt Angle to once again escape with the victory.

It is announced that at Armageddon 2007, it will be Kurt Angle vs Edge vs The Undertaker vs. Batista in a Fatal 4 Way Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

On the go home show, we have an All Star Tag Team Match in the main event of Smackdown. Edge & Kurt Angle vs. Batista and Undertaker. Angle & Edge would eventually win after Taker and Batista couldn’t co-exist.

Armageddon ‘07 (12/16/07)

World Heavyweight Championship – Edge def. Kurt Angle(c), Batista and The Undertaker (19:32)

We are at Armageddon and the main event is here. Angle and Edge are constantly working together to try to take out Taker and Batista. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t.

Once again like IRL, two Edge look-alikes who are now known as Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder attack both Undertaker and Batista with steel chairs.

Edge would then hit a SPEAR on Kurt Angle. 1….2….3!! WE GOT A NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

The following Smackdown, a pissed-off Kurt Angle comes out for a match, and he DESTROYS Funaki.

Angle Slam, Ankle Lock, tap out. Kurt Angle grabs the mic and says he will win the Royal Rumble and will get his World Title back.

Royal Rumble ‘08 (1/27/08)

Royal Rumble Match – John Cena wins the Royal Rumble by lastly eliminating Triple H (51:10)

We get to the Royal Rumble and Kurt Angle enters #15 and lasts up until the final 5. It is Kane, Batista, Kurt Angle, Triple H, and a returning John Cena.

Batista would end up eliminating Angle. Batista would then also eliminate Kane. A few minutes later, Angle would come back in the ring and eliminate Batista. Batista and Angle would then start brawling.

Kurt Angle would beat Kane to qualify for the Smackdown Elimination Chamber where the winner would face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 24 (Sorry ECW).

It is The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle vs. MVP vs. Batista vs. Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio. Now you might be asking Rey Mysterio?

Didn’t he wrestle Edge in IRL? He did but I put him in this match for a specific reason. You see soon after NAO, Rey would take some time off for injury and this will be a good way to write him off.

The chamber starts off with Angle and Mysterio and Angle immediately is able to catch Mysterio in the Ankle Lock and Rey taps out. HOLY SHIT! We are not even a minute in and Mysterio is already eliminated.

Angle would then start staring at Batista. As Rey is being carried out, Angle would German Suplex Rey and locks back in the Ankle Lock back in and puts a grapevine on it.

Rey is writhing in pain, the refs are trying to pull Angle away, Batista are banging on the plexiglass like a caged animal, 10….9….8….7…6…5…BATISTA BREAKS THROUGH THE GLASS!!

Angle can’t believe it. Angle lets go of Mysterio and tries to run out of the chamber but Batista catches him. Throwing him into the chains, into the pods, he slams him in the chamber.

He doesn’t eliminate him though, he just beats the crap outta him. The next entrant comes and it’s Montel Vontavious Porter. MVP comes out and he helps Angle. Same for Finlay.

The Undertaker comes out and starts cleaning house. He eliminates both Finlay and MVP. The final 3 are Batista, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker. It’s a Survivor Series rematch. Batista would hit the Batista Bomb to eliminate Angle.

Once Angle recovered, he would then low blow Batista before he leaves. However, Batista is still able to last for a few more minutes.

No Way Out ‘08 (2/17/08)

Elimination Chamber Match – The Undertaker def. Batista, Kurt Angle, MVP, Finlay, Rey Mysterio (31:30)

Following No Way Out, Batista and Angle can’t keep their hands off each other. Week after Week after Week, it’s brawl after brawl after brawl.

Teddy Long has had ENOUGH!! He is sick of both of them brawling and says the Smackdown is too big for the both of them and makes a match at Wrestlemania.

It will be Kurt Angle vs. Batista, No Disqualifications, Loser Leaves Smackdown.

A rivalry that started in July will finally end in April in only their 2nd PPV singles match

This match isn’t a wrestling match, it is an absolute FIGHT. Crowd brawling and everything. The finish comes when Batista hits the Batista Bomb Angle through a table to banish Angle from Smackdown.

WrestleMania 24 (2008) (3/30/08)

No DQ Match – Loser Leaves Smackdown Batista def. Kurt Angle (13:59)

After the match, Batista is celebrating and Angle just has a blank expression on his face. I wouldn’t wanna mess with this man.

That’s it for Year 1. A very newsworthy year for Kurt. He’s been champion for most of 2007. So I think for 2008 and maybe even the first half of 2009, Angle might not hold any time soon. He’ll still challenge for them but he won’t win any.
