Monday Night Raw: The anticipation is felt in the air after the fallout from Judgement Day. The show opens with the Icon, Sting, cutting a promo on the McMahon/Bischoff/Heyman regime. He takes shots at how Bischoff and Hulk Hogan ran WCW into the ground, how Heyman got too big for his britches with ECW, and how Shane and Stephanie are just a couple of spoiled brats. He reveals that he was the one who found where Molly Holly was being held captive by the Gangsta’s, and he Demands to know where the hell they hid Vince.
-Shane, Stephanie and Triple H come down to the ring. They take their own shots at Sting, claiming the he had one job, Save WCW. Shane arrogantly claims that he succeeded where the Stinger failed, and now they’re running the show. He then unveils Phase 2 of their plan, being to turn Raw and Smackdown into Nitro and Thunder, claiming the company as WCW once and for All.
-Triple h chimes in, saying that “Dear old Dad” Vince, at first was vehemently against this…but they were able to change his mind.
-Stephanie points to the Entrance ramp, saying “Bring him out Mom!” Sting looks in Horror, as Linda McMahon comes out…with Vince McMahon in a Wheelchair, Completely Comatosed. Linda smirks at him and chuckles to herself as Stephanie remarks “Karma’s a bitch, huh Dad?”
-During all of this, Sting is just Wondering if there’s anyone in this Godforsaken family that isn’t COMPLETELY INSANE?! Undertaker comes out to try and Rescue Vince, but is intercepted by the Steiner Brothers. Sting and Triple H start brawling, as the McMahon’s run off. The brawl escalates into Complete chaos, as every Wrestler spreads out all over the arena.
-Once the fighting dies down, the WWF re-group and wonder…..where the hell is Austin????
-The Filthy Animals face Edge and Christian in a Number one contenders match for the Tag titles. Rey and Kidman have the upper hand on Christian, as Edge looks like he’d rather be anywhere else. Christian goes to tag Edge into the match….but Edge hops off of the ring apron and walks to the stage. Christian fights back valiantly, but is ultimately pinned by Mysterio.
-Edge looks down at his “Brother”. He calls him Pathetic and says they are brothers no more. Edge no longer cares about anyone but himself.
-The Hardy Boyz have unfinished business with the Filthy Animals, so the match at the Invasion PPV is made into a triple threat Tag.
-Judge Jeff Jones presents Mike Awesome, the new European Champion. He hypes him up as a new Monster heel, as Commissioner William Regal comes out. Regal is disgusted by the actions of the Alliance’s Regime, and announces that he has Stepped down as an Authority figure, (turning face in the process) so he can fight alongside the WWF roster, and he plans to Out-Wrestle the Gladiator at Invasion.
-The Steiner Brothers Squash Too Cool, as the Brothers of Destruction appear on the stage. Scott goads Kane to come and fight him some more, but Taker keeps him from losing his shit again as they issue a Challenge for another big match at Invasion. Everyone questions whether or not Taker can keep Kane under control so he can finally take down Poppa pump.
-RVD teams up with Al Snow and Spike Dudley against Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and The Sandman. After RVD pins Dreamer, it erupts into 24/7 rule chaos when Disco Inferno rushes the ring and rolls up Sandman for the Hardcore title…only for Sandman to cane the crap out of him and win it back, Swinging away at guys such as The Mean Street Posse, Viscera, The Headbangers, Norman Smiley, Crowbar, etc.
-After the Chaos, Paul Heyman comes down to have a little chat with RVD. Heyman cuts a fiery promo, ranting about the WWF stealing his Ideas and Monopolizing the Wrestling business. He claims the ECW locker room was once like a big happy family, and you NEVER take sides against your Family, ROB! He then cites a perfect example of how this Company treats the stars he made:
“Just Look at Taz! This man was a Killer, and they turned him into a Color Commentator!”
-This of course, leads to Tazz locking Paul in the Tazzmission. RVD reaches out for a Handshake, only for Tazz to lay RVD out with the Tazzplex. Tazz grabs the Mic, saying that they wanted a Killer, and now they’ve got one and Rhyno better watch his back because now he’s got Two People going after the ECW Title.
-Jeff Jarrett comes down to the ring with Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke (Kronik). Jarrett brags about Jericho losing to him is why WCW kept him in the cruiserweight division, and he could Never EVER be world champion if he tried. Jarrett decides to make an open challenge for the title, similar to how he won the belt, answered by Chris Benoit.
-Benoit brings out his own protection, of course being the APA. The APA and Kronik Brawl outside, as Jarrett runs into a chair shot from Chris Jericho. With nowhere left to run, Benoit locks Jarrett in the Crossface, making him tap. Chris Benoit wins the Intercontinental title.
-Jericho gets on the mic to taunt Jarrett. This is no longer about the title, this is about Y2J beating Jarrett’s Ass. Jarrett is pissed off and wants Jericho at Invasion, in a Street fight.
-The Rock has a singles match against Scott Hall, where X-Pac tries to interfere, only for Rock to beat him down as well. Rock defeats Hall Clean, then afterwards wails on both Kliq members with a chair. He gets on the mic and calls out Kevin Nash, calling he and the rest of WCW a bunch of Roody Poo candy asses. Nash feels the blow to his pride, agreeing to a match against the Rock at Invasion with No outside interference.
-on Smackdown, Kurt Angle claims there can only be one True World champion. He makes fun of the fact that the WCW title was also held by the likes of David Arquette and Vince Russo, and Booker T should just relent and Hand the Big gold Belt over to him.
-Stevie Ray, Booker’s brother and long time tag team partner comes down to stand up for Booker, as he and Kurt have a Match later that night. Stevie Ray fights valiantly, but Angle wrestles Circles around him and makes him tap with the Ankle lock. He doesn’t let go after the Bell, and brutally snaps Stevie’s ankle as Booker runs to his aid. Booker swears on his life that Angle is a Dead man.
-This would lead to a Later show where Booker T bloodies Kurt’s brother Eric backstage, setting up a title for title match at Invasion.
-Leading up to Invasion, Sting is taunting the Alliance and beating down members left and right, similarly to how he fought back against the NWO. Triple H then decides to retaliate one night in a very degenerative way.
-The crowd hears Sting’s music play….only to see Triple H in an Intentionally bad cosplay as Surfer Sting. He mocks the icon in a Parodic promo, talking up himself in the third person, and if you don’t believe him, just ask his former blade runner partner. “Come on out and say Hi, Jimmy!”
-The Ultimate Warrior’s Music plays…and it’s Shawn Michaels in a Surprise appearance, wearing fake Muscles, running around and screaming like a maniac. We get a classic DX parody segment, with HBK/Warrior rambling on about how Triple H is too good for the Stinger, his “Destrucity” level is beyond fathom.
-The mood immediately shifts once the lights go out, and multiple people in Sting masks show up in both the crowd and at ringside. The Real Sting appears from underneath the Ring and sneaks up behind Michaels. Sting Ducks the sweet chin music and nails HBK with a Scorpion Death Drop. Triple H tries to smash him with the Sledgehammer, but Sting breaks it in half with his Metal Baseball bat.Triple H runs away, as Sting does a DX crotch chop over Michaels.
Invasion comes and the match card is set:
-William Regal challenges Mike Awesome for the European title.
-The Dudley Boyz defend the tag team titles against the Filthy Animals and the Hardy Boyz
-Rob Van Dam vs Tazz vs Rhyno in a Three way Dance for the ECW Title.
-Chris Jericho faces Jeff Jarrett in a Blowoff Street fight
-The Rock vs Kevin Nash
-Angle vs Booker, Title for Title
-The Brothers of Destruction vs The Steiner Brothers
-Triple H vs Sting for control of the Company.
-During the Show, The Rock manages to find Steve Austin’s whereabouts. Austin is sitting at a Bar, already having slammed a few beers as Rock gives him a pep talk. Rock tells Austin to quit wallowing around just because Hogan keeps Escaping his clutches and keep Fighting for the WWF. He wants to see the man who beat him for the WWF title at WrestleMania, what they need is The Old Stone cold. Rock leaves him with that thought as he gets ready for his match with Nash.
In the Opener, William Regal manages to take Mike Awesome to the mat, but The Gladiator powers out and smashes him. Both men stagger up to their feet late into the match, as Regal considers using the Brass Knuckles…but decides to win this fairly. Awesome is locked in the Regal stretch, as Jeff Jones gets his arm to the rope. Regal does use the Knucks on Jones, but sadly walks into an Awesome Bomb for the 3.
Kidman and Mysterio win the tag titles, as Mysterio finishes D-Von with the 619, but animosities between the three teams linger.
The Extreme 3-Way Dance is an Absolute Car crash that hearkens back to the glory days of ECW, with Weapons flying everywhere and Run-ins from just about everybody. (Dreamer, Sandman, Raven, New Jack, etc.) The match finally ends with RVD landing the Van-Terminator and the Five star frog splash onto Rhyno. RVD shares a handshake of respect with Taz, as the rest of the alliance members head to the back.
Y2J and the Chosen one brawl in a Brutal Street fight, as it’s finally Jeff Jarrett’s turn to have a Guitar smashed over his head, followed by tapping out to the Walls of Jericho.
The Rock takes on Kevin Nash next. Nash intends to prove he doesn’t need help from anyone to beat Rock, and very nearly succeeds, but Rock powers through. A Ref bump happens, as Hall and X-Pac immediately try to seize the opportunity…only for Nash to stand up and tell them he’s got this. Nash goes for a final Jackknife Powerbomb, but Rock fights out and lands the Rock bottom for the 3. After the match, Nash shoves Hall and X-Pac away from him and storms off to the back.
The Brothers of Destruction collide with the Steiners. Scott almost locks Kane in the Steiner recliner again, only for the big red machine to power out. Taker smashes Rick through the announcers table with the last ride, as Kane pins Poppa Pump with the Tombstone piledriver.
What’s SUPPOSED to be the title Unification match between Booker T and Kurt Angle is interrupted when Eric Bischoff makes an announcement. The Alliance leaders have decided to insert one more man into this match being none other….than Bill Goldberg.
At first Kurt laughs, thinking that they’re about to gang up on Booker, only for Goldberg to Spear and Jackhammer him. Booker fights valiantly, managing to kick out of Two Spear/Jackhammer Combos, only to fall to the third. Bischoff raises Goldberg’s arm, declaring him the new WCW Undisputed Champion. Kurt pleads with Bischoff, wondering why the alliance would betray him like this? Bischoff simply chuckles, stating that Kurt was nothing more than a Tool in the grand scheme.
Bischoff promptly Fires Angle, who leaves humiliated.
Sting and Triple H face off with the fate of the company on the line. Hunter is on the ropes, as Stinger seems to have an answer for everything he throws at him. Shawn Michaels returns, and manages to nail Sting with a Sweet chin music and quickly throw Hunter onto Sting, 1! 2! NO! Sting death drops HBK, and locks Hunter into the Scorpion Death lock….only for Hulk Hogan to pull Hunter to the ropes. Sting chases Hogan away, as Triple H capitalizes with the Sledgehammer and a Pedigree.
The crowd is in awe at what just happened. Triple H won the match, and now…the WWF has become the new WCW. Shane, Stephanie and Eric Bischoff all come out with the WCW Roster to celebrate both Goldberg’s Title win, and Triple H conquering the Company. They even wheel out comatosed Vince McMahon to rub it in his face.
All hope genuinely seems lost…until they hear the Shattering Glass.
Stone Cold appears on the Entrance ramp, With the WWF roster all Rallied behind him, as they charge the ring. What follows is the biggest brawl in Wrestling history, every superstar involved in chaotic fights around the Arena, with the Crescendo of it all being Austin FINALLY getting his hands on Hogan and Laying him out in the middle of the Ring with a Stone cold Stunner.
Fans are left anticipating what’s to come on Ra-I Mean Nitro the next night, as we fade to black.
