After the “retirement” of Vince McMahon in July of 2022, Triple H assumed control of the WWE book just 8 days before Summerslam. The 14 time world champion made an immediate impact by piecing together an entertaining PPV full of great moments. One of those moments included the return of Bayley, making her return after being out from injury for over a year. She confronted Bianca Belair after her match with Becky Lynch, but she wouldn’t come out alone.

Coming up from NXT is Io Shirai, now renamed Iyo Sky, to back Bayley up and then a returning Dakota Kai who was released from her WWE contract in April. This new heel alliance taunted Belair and teased attacking her, but Becky Lynch decided to show her good side and back up the champion, even though they have been rivals for the past year.

Bayley, Dakota and Iyo would become Damage CTRL, one of the most entertaining women’s factions in WWE history, however in retrospect I feel like their overall run was slightly mishandled and after Wrestlemania XL they became pretty irrelevant to weekly TV. Today, we are going to take a look at how Damage CTRL was booked, how it should have been booked and where the faction could go in the future. To begin, let’s eat some memberberries and remind ourselves what exactly happened.

Making Enemies

After their debut at the 2022 Summerslam, the newly formed Damage CTRL would interfere in a match between Alexa Bliss and Asuka on Raw. Bianca Belair goes out to support both women and the trio would form an alliance to fight Damage CTRL at Clash at the Castle. At the event, Bayley pinned the Raw women’s champion Bianca Belair to win the match for her team.

On September 12th edition of Raw, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky defeat Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Bayley was less successful in her title chase, failing to defeat Bianca for the title at both Extreme Rules and Crown Jewel. Alexa Bliss & Asuka won the Tag titles from Damage control in October, but their reign was brief when Kai & Iyo won back the championships at Crown Jewel thanks to interference from Alexa’s former ally, Nikki Cross.

Belair, Bliss & Asuka challenged Damage CTRL to WarGames at Survivor Series. Damage CTRL accepted and revealed Nikki Cross as the 4th woman. Returning from injury is Mia Yim who aligned herself with Team Bianca. Rhea Ripley was the final woman to join Team Damage, whilst a returning Becky Lynch sided with Bianca Belair. The 10 women went to war at Survivor Series, Lynch hit a diving leg drop from the top of the cage through Iyo and Kai, through a table to win the match.

Genius of The Bank

Damage CTRL transitioned into a feud with Becky Lynch, leading to a series of matches on TV. Becky Lynch would gain a friend in the legend Lita and challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. On the February 27th edition of Raw, Becky & Lita defeated Iyo & Kai for the titles thanks to Trish Stratus taking out an interfering Bayley. This all culminated at Wrestlemania 39 where Lynch, Lita and Trish defeated Damage CTRL. The faction are already taking a lot of big losses.

Damage CTRL were drafted to Smackdown but were hampered by a serious injury, Dakota Kai tore her ACL and was taken off screen. Both Bayley and Iyo Sky qualified for the Money in the Bank match. During the ladder match, Iyo made the climb towards the top but Bayley pushed to ladder over, choosing to try and win the match for herself rather than focus on the group winning. Towards the finish, Becky Lynch stopped Bayley from ascending and tried to handcuff her to the ladder. Iyo Sky gets involved, handcuffing Becky and Bayley together through the ladder, trapping them. She ascends the ladder and wins the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Iyo wouldn’t wait around. At Summerslam 2023, a year after the formation of Damage CTRL and her main roster debut, Iyo Sky cashed in the briefcase on a newly crowned Bianca Belair to become the WWE Women’s Champion. Dakota Kai made her return here too, still injured but she came out and celebrated with her team. Iyo Sky would retain her championship at Fastlane against Asuka and Charlotte Flair ahead of a championship match with Bianca Belair at Crown Jewel.

Expansion

Bianca and Iyo fought over the gold, Damage CTRL would try to get involved and help their champion. Referee is distracted whilst Bianca tries to hit a KOD through on the announce table. Making her surprise return after leaving WWE 2 years ago is Kairi Sane, hitting Belair with a Uraken. Iyo retained after hitting her moonsault. Kairi joined in the post match attack on Belair, cementing herself as a new member of Damage CTRL.

The next interesting arc in the story is Bayley’s relationship with the group. Although she is technically the leader, she feels less of one. She was not informed about Kairi Sane joining the group and immediately there is tension because Bayley was the one who sent Kairi packing from WWE, taking her out in a brutal assault in 2021. Kairi Sane reassures Bayley that the past is in the past. A week afterwards, Asuka would be the next to join Damage CTRL, betraying her alliance with Belair and Charlotte Flair. Another decision that Bayley was not a part of.

It appears that the injured Dakota Kai is the one calling the shots from behind the scenes, being able to converse with Iyo, Kairi and Asuka in Japanese whilst Bayley is left in the dark, waiting to hear the rundown from Dakota separately.

Damage CTRL enter WarGames again in 2023, taking on their rivals Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Shotzi. Becky Lynch ended the match, putting Bayley through a table with the Manhandle Slam to win for her team. Another big loss for the faction. They would continue to suffer losses but their fortunes would change in 2024. On the January 26th edition of Smackdown, Kairi Sane and Asuka defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter for the WWE Women’s Tag Championships.

Watashi Wakaru YO

Bayley continues to be left out of plans and in the dark but Dakota Kai runs the game plan by her. Bayley must win the 2024 Royal Rumble, challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship and bring all the gold to Damage CTRL. She had a difficult task ahead of her because she entered the match at number 3. Although Asuka and Kairi Sane came out shortly after, they did not provide much support to Bayley and they were both eventually eliminated, forcing Bayley to do it alone. Bayley lasted an hour and 3 minutes, breaking the record for a woman in a Royal Rumble match and won the whole thing.

The following week whilst Bayley was talking about making her decision, she Kairi, Asuka and Iyo talking amongst themselves in Japanese. Bayley turns to then and says “watashi wakaru yo” which translates to “I understand”. She reveals she has been learning Japanese and she knows all of the horrible stuff they have been saying about her for weeks. Bayley is done with Damage CTRL, Kairi and Asuka attack her and expel her from the group. Bayley vs Iyo Sky is set for Wrestlemania XL.

Dakota Kai initially appears to side with Bayley, but it was just a ruse. Kai betrays Bayley and remains part of Damage CTRL, joining in the beat down of Bayley. Concurrent with their feud with Bayley, Damage CTRL also entered a feud with Naomi & Bianca Belair. Damage CTRL beat down Naomi & Belair on an episode of Smackdown, bringing out the recently debuting Jade Cargill to make the save, setting up another match at Wrestlemania for Damage CTRL.

The Decline

Wrestlemania XL was not a good weekend for Damage CTRL. Dakota Kai, Asuka & Kairi Sane lost to Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on night 1. On night 2, Bayley defeated Iyo Sky to win the WWE Women’s Championship, ending her 246 day reign. At Backlash in France, Asuka and Sane lost their tag championships to Bianca & Jade, ending their 99 day reign.

Thus begins the steady decline of Damage CTRL. The group are now on Raw, but both Asuka and Dakota Kai had to take time off to go have knee surgery. In the meantime, Kairi and Iyo were a tag team and competed in the women’s tag division. They eventually turned face and feuded primarily with the Pure Fusion Collective. At Crown Jewel in November 2024, they unsuccessfully challenged for the tag titles in a 4-way tag match.

Dakota Kai returns from injury in November, but shortly afterwards Kairi Sane gets injured so we’re back to only 2 members of Damage CTRL. Dakota Kai enters a tournament to become the inaugural women’s Intercontinental champion, but loses in the finals to Lyra Valkyria. After losing a rematch against Lyra, Kai would pick up another injury, being concussed in January and off screen once again. Iyo Sky is on her own.

The End

However, things worked out for Iyo Sky, defeating Rhea Ripley on Raw to become the Women’s World Champion which she still holds to this day. On May 2nd, Dakota Kai was among several WWE releases which signalled the official end of Damage CTRL as a faction. Asuka is still out injured. Kairi Sane has now returned to television but just as a singles star, probably to compete in the IC title division.

Overall, I don’t think Damage CTRL were as poorly booked as wrestling fans like to claim. It definitely could have been done better, but they were a major part of programming for 2 years. Iyo Sky got a lengthy title run. Bayley got a Rumble win and was the most popular with audiences she has been since her NXT days. There were some highlight moments.

However, I think the faction took far too many losses during their prime. Plus, their booking post-Wrestlemania XL was directionless and weak. Then there are the injury issues which couldn’t be helped, and Dakota Kai being released, which is just sad.

I want to focus more on what WWE could have done with Damage CTRL in 2025 and forward into 2026, but before I do that, I think it is best we run it back and make a few necessary adjustments.

Revisionist History

Dominant First Year

Bayley chasing and failing to win the world championship from Bianca Belair is fine and actually works out well in the long term story. This can be used to fuel frustrations between Bayley and Iyo Sky. Bayley can be jealous and selfish, whilst Iyo can be disappointed in Bayley’s failures.

Damage CTRL should remain pretty dominant and undefeated until Survivor Series. Losing in WarGames can be the factions first major loss and it is thanks to the returning Becky Lynch. A feel good moment to start the show and this can begin Damage CTRL’s feud with Becky Lynch heading towards Wrestlemania.

Their feud with Becky was a good one. I don’t mind them dropping the titles to Lynch & Lita via Trish Stratus shenanigans, but Damage CTRL should pick up the victory at Wrestlemania 39. This solidifies them as a dangerous and effective stable. It also provides another reason for Trish Stratus’ heel turn on Becky after Wrestlemania.

Iyo Sky winning Money in the Bank was the best possible option and having Bayley try to screw her out of it was a great piece of storytelling. This is another layer that leads to issues between Bayley and Iyo Sky.

Reign From The Sky

Iyo Sky’s title run, whilst a good length, felt like an afterthought. Over 246 days, she defended the title 7 times and only thrice on PPV. She wrestled only 7 other matches during this time, mostly tag matches and she lost 6 of them. That is not very strong booking for your world champion. I think the best and easiest way to amend this is to have Iyo win more of her matches and be presented as an actual talent, not a fluke champion.

Kairi returning was awesome and reuniting with Asuka in Damage CTRL just felt right. I would have this new version of Damage CTRL actually win WarGames at Survivor Series 2023. This was a good opportunity to put over the new members as improvements for the faction. You can still have spots like Bayley sacrificing herself for the good of the team, that is a nice touch. The finish goes when Bayley teases a massive diving elbow drop through Shotzi, through a table from the top of the cage. She second guesses herself and decides to try and get down. The rest of Damage CTRL, who were trying to get her to jump, are unhappy and try to help Bayley overcome the fear by pushing her themselves. Bayley falls, crashes through Shotzi and the table and picks up the pinfall victory.

Everything from here through Wrestlemania is great stuff. Kabuki Warriors as tag champions, Bayley winning the Rumble and turning face. Bianca, Jade & Naomi winning at Wrestlemania, Bayley too. All of this was good booking.

Post-Mania Blues

Now, going from Wrestlemania we can make some changes. Firstly, delay the WWE draft by a few months while we get the last few drops out of this Bayley vs Damage CTRL angle. Bianca and Jade can still defeat the Kabuki Warriors for the tag titles at Backlash. Bayley still retains her title against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton, but afterwards she is attacked by Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai.

A rematch between Bayley and Iyo Sky main events an episode of Smackdown, where Bayley retains in what I expect is a great match. Dakota Kai tells Bayley that she brought her back into this company 2 years ago, so it is up to Dakota to take Bayley out of WWE. This leads to a match at Clash at the Castle between Kai and Bayley, where the champion retains. This allows Kai to be featured prominently as a singles for the first time, preparing her for being a future Intercontinental challenger. This is the end of Bayley vs Damage CTRL as the faction now moves over to Raw in the draft.

There isn’t much we can do about injuries to Dakota Kai and Asuka. By this point though, Damage CTRL wil have been booked pretty strong and featured pretty prominently for 2 years, so I think it is acceptable that they fall down the card for a little while. Rhea and Liv are feuding over the Women’s World championship so Iyo and Kairi can compete in the tag division together. A brief feud with the Pure Fusion Collective is an easy way to turn Damage CTRL face.

Back On Top

Iyo Sky can challenge Liv Morgan for the championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Kairi Sane now gets injured but Dakota Kai is back. Unfortunately, not much we can do about injuries.

Iyo Sky won the Women’s World Championship in a great moment on Raw. She defended it in arguably the best match of Wrestlemania weekend and her feud has been pretty enjoyable thus far. She has had great matches with new call-ups from NXT Stephanie Vaquer, Roxanne Perez and Giulia. Iyo is more over now than she has ever been in WWE. Unfortunately, Dakota Kai has been released, but I would not make this the end of Damage CTRL. There is a way to continue the story.

The tweaks are minor but I think that it makes Damage CTRL look stronger. All it takes really is more wins, less losses. Quite simple. That doesn’t make for the most exciting article, so how about I tell you how they could stretch out the Damage CTRL story for one more year? Here is how I would book this faction going forward.

I first drafted this fantasy booking at the start of May, just after Dakota was released. I was pretty certain that Becky Lynch was going to win the Intercontinental championship at Backlash but I was wrong. Lyra retained in the best match of the night. For the purposes of this fantasy booking, Becky Lynch wins. It is Becky who scores a quick roll up victory, holding the ring ropes for a cheap assist. Becky walks out with gold round her waist and a shit-eating grin on her face. Also, Giulia stays on Raw whilst Stephanie Vaquer goes to Smackdown instead.

I also would not bring Kairi Sane back to action just yet. We don’t have to wait too long though.

Revisionist History, again

Iyo Sky finds herself embroiled in a feud with debuting NXT stars Roxanne Perez and Giulia. Rhea Ripley comes out and saves Iyo from beatdowns. Rhea and Iyo form a loose alliance to fight off the invaders, but Rhea says her help comes at a price. At Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX in May, she wants a singles rematch for the title. No Bianca Belair to screw them over, no bad blood. Just two women trying to be the best. Iyo Sky gladly accepts.

At SNME XXXIC on the 24th of May, Iyo Sky defeats Rhea Ripley definitively. Both women shake hands after the match. Rhea can step away from the world title picture for a little while.

By this point, Bayley makes her return and joins Lyra Valkyria in the fight against Becky Lynch. This leads to a triple threat match over the Intercontinental championship at Money in the Bank, where Becky Lynch retains once again.

Guilia and Roxanne Perez take credit for making NXT the best women’s division in the world and they are here to fix Raw’s women’s division too. The only way they can do that is if one of them is champion. Iyo Sky is willing to accept a challenge from either of them. It is made clear that Perez will be her next challenger when she attacks Iyo and holds up her championship.

The New Damage CTRL

On the 30th of June Raw, Iyo Sky defends her championship against Roxanne Perez. During the match Giulia keeps butting her nose in but Iyo survives. Giulia has the referee distracted as Perez grabs the championship to use it. However, Kairi Sane makes her return and snatches the championship from her hands. Perez turns around into a Uraken from Iyo, finishing the match with her diving moonsault.

Giulia is disappointed that Perez did not get the title. She says it is up to her to defeat Iyo and fulfil their goal to save the Raw women’s division. Giulia becomes number 1 contender, setting up a dream match against Iyo Sky for Summerslam Saturday.

Giulia vs Iyo wrestle a classic at Summerslam. During the match, Perez tries to interfere but Iyo takes her out. Iyo tries to drop Giulia with the Uraken, but she pulls the referee in the way of harm. Giulia and Iyo both hit simultaneous backfists, tumbling to the floor. Then, we hear Asuka’s music. The Empress of Tomorrow makes her grand return and she waltzes to the ring. Asuka and Kairi embrace at ringside and speak a little Japanese before going into the ring.

Kairi picks up her ally Iyo, but Asuka picks up a groggy Giulia. Asuka and Kairi seemingly bicker in Japanese, but it is part of the plan. Kairi attacks Iyo Sky, Asuka joins in and so does Giulia. Roxanne Perez recovers to see what is happening and she looks as surprised as we are. Giulia hits her Northern Lights Bomb finisher and pins Iyo Sky. Giulia walks out of Summerslam as the champion with Perez, Kairi and Asuka by her side.

On the following Raw, Giulia says that Iyo Sky does not belong to Damage CTRL anymore. Damage CTRL belongs to her now.

Beautiful Madness

Pretty much 3 years to the date since Damage CTRL formed at Summerslam, a new version of the group has formed, consisting none of the OG members of the faction. It is also worth mentioning that at Summerslam, Bayley defeats Roxanne Perez in their first singles match whilst Lyra Valkyria defeats Becky Lynch in a strap match to regain the IC championship. Not a “touch the corners” strap match. A physical fight with both women joint at the wrist.

Damage CTRL come out and claim to have fixed the Raw women’s division now that they run it. Bayley confronts them and takes exception to them using the Damage CTRL name when that was a faction created by her. None of them deserve to be associated with something great that she created. Bayley comes to blows with various members as she earns herself a women’s championship match at Clash in Paris.

Bayley takes the fight to Giulia, managing to fight off interference of Kairi, Asuka and Perez but the numbers game is too much and eventually she is beaten. A post-match beat down is saved by a returning Iyo Sky with a kendo stick in hand. Iyo helps Bayley up, they stare each other down but nod to show that at least for now, they are on the same page.

Return Down Under

In the lead up to Crown Jewel airing from Perth, Giulia and Damage CTRL are confronted by Australia’s own, Rhea Ripley. Rhea says that she has been separated from the world title for long enough and cannot think of a better place to win back the gold than in her home country. Giulia does not fear Ripley but questions how deserving she is since she has failed to win her title back on a few occasions. Rhea defeats each of the members of Damage CTRL and Adam Pearce thinks that is proof enough that Rhea deserves a shot. In fact, he rewards her by barring any members of Damage CTRL from ringside.

Bayley and Iyo Sky come to an understanding that things did not work out well for them in Damage CTRL. Bayley admits that she was selfish for trying to be the star when Iyo deserved to be one too. Iyo feels bad for casting Bayley out and thanks her for bringing her up and helping her become a champion. They reunite to do right by what is rightfully theirs. They get themselves a tag match against Asuka and Roxanne Perez on the October 13th edition of Raw airing in Perth after Crown Jewel.

Meanwhile, Kairi Sane eyes up her first singles championship on the main roster by targeting Lyra Valkyria for her IC championship, which is booked for the same Raw from Perth.

Perth ends up being a mostly good weekend for Damage CTRL. Although Kairi fails to capture the IC title from Lyra, Giulia retains her championship against Rhea Ripley (though she had to cheat to do it) and Perez pins rival Bayley to give her team a victory.

Games of War

Heading towards Survivor Series, Bayley and Iyo challenge Damage CTRL to WarGames. Roxanne Perez laughs and says they are more than happy to accept, not thinking that they have enough allies to even compete with them. Out comes Rhea Ripley who is now pissed off by Giulia. She joins Bayley and Iyo to stand against Damage CTRL.

Later, the IC champion Lyra Valkyria also pledges herself to fight them as a favour to her friend Bayley. It is 4v4 and it looks like all of the sides are determined, but a familiar face causes trouble yet again. Becky Lynch helps Damage CTRL, destroying a chair across the backs of Bayley, Iyo, Lyra and Rhea. Becky is feeling up for a fight and she decides to align with Damage CTRL. Heading into Survivor Series, Bayley’s team is a woman short of a full team.

Roxanne Perez and Bayley start the WarGames off and Damage CTRL have the advantage. Members come in one by one, bringing various weapons and furniture to wear down their opponents. Damage CTRL are in firm control when the final entrant comes in for Bayley’s team. A returning Dakota Kai. Kai runs in and reunites with Bayley and Iyo Sky and helps them take down the imposter version of Damage CTRL. Kai sets up Perez on the top rope and drills her with a Kairopractor through a table for the win. The OG Damage CTRL embrace together for one night only. All 3 women move on to do separate things.

They really shouldn’t have got rid of Dakota. I know she got injured a lot, but she is really good and a lovely person to have in the locker room. They should bring her back.

2026 Royal Rumble

In a mirror image of what happened to Bayley at the end of 2023 towards the Royal Rumble, Roxanne Perez is being left out of plans by Guila, Kairi and Asuka who are talking in Japanese and privately but they do run Perez through the plays that they have planned. They tell Roxanne that she has to go win the Royal Rumble and challenge for the WWE Women’s Championship on Smackdown to bring more gold to Damage CTRL. Perez warns them that if they try anything against her, it will not go to plan.

The final 6 in the 2026 Royal Rumble is Iyo Sky, Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch & Alexa Bliss. Perez and Vaquer run back their NXT feud and El Primera eliminates Perez, but she is dumped out of the ring by Becky Lynch afterwards. A moment that will probably get a lot of heat on Becky. (Vaquer vs Lynch for Wrestlemania 42, please and thank you). Alexa Bliss goes for a Twisted Bliss from the top onto Iyo Sky, but Rhea catches her in mid air and dumps her out of the ring. Later, Iyo attempts a moonsault to Becky and she gets caught in mid-air by Rhea too. However, Iyo manages to counter it and flip Rhea over and out of the ring.

Iyo Sky and Becky Lynch are the final 2. They wrestle a further 5 minutes exchanging counters and big moves. Both women are on the apron and Becky goes for the Manhandle Slam, but Iyo holds on to the rope with her life. She escapes Becky’s grip, hitting a springboard dropkick to finally send her crashing to the floor. Iyo Sky is the 2026 Royal Rumble winner.

Break Up

Roxanne Perez has noticed the pattern of deceit that her fellow Damage CTRL members are doing. She is wary that they are going to screw her over the same way that they screwed Bayley over, so Perez publically cuts ties with them. She sarcastically wishes Giulia look, taking credit for her meteoric rise since debuting on Raw and goes on a solo mission to make the Raw women’s division great again. The first objective on her list is proving that she is superior to Bayley.

Rumble winner Iyo Sky chooses Giulia as her opponent for Wrestlemania. In a pre-recorded video, she speaks to her former allies Kairi Sane and Asuka and reminds them where they all came from and who they used to be. Iyo reminds Asuka of her undefeated streak when she came into WWE as well as her 4 world title reigns. She reminds Kairi of her success as the pirate princess winning the Mae Young Classic and her decorated success around the world outside of WWE like in New Japan. Iyo questions if they are going to remain a follower, or do something for themselves for once.

Giulia confronts Iyo Sky about trying to turn the Kabuki Warriors against her, she calls Iyo jealous that her version of Damage CTRL is more united and dominant than hers ever was. Giulia tells Kairi and Asuka to beat up Iyo and they do. However, after disposing Iyo they are not done. They take down Giulia, Asuka chokes her out and then Kairi finishes her off with the In-Sane elbow. Damage CTRL is no more.

Friendship

In a pre-recorded interview (so we can have subtitles) Asuka tells Byron Saxton that she has been a support character for far too long and it is time that she becomes women’s champion again. Kairi Sane speaks ernestly actually feels like she has been the supporting character. She was by Asuka’s side throughout her championship reign in 2020 because she wanted to support her friend. Kairi asks Asuka if she will do the same, and support Kairi in her quest to become champion. Asuka ponders for a second before accepting. The plan to target Giulia and Iyo Sky, until they get what they want.

A contract signing between Giulia and Iyo Sky is gate crashed by Asuka and Kairi who attack both women and tear up the contract before it can be signed. The Kabuki Warriors stand tall in the ring, but Asuka grabs Iyo’s championship and hits Kairi with it. She assaults Kairi and locks in the Asuka lock until she is dragged away by officials. Kairi is in tears not just because of the pain, but losing her best friend.

Another recorded segment shows Asuka call Kairi selfish, entitled and most importantly, undeserving. She says Giulia, Iyo Sky and herself have proven that they deserve to make it to the top of the division. Kairi has proved she needs to run away to be able to win gold. She tells Kairi to run away to Japan again and never come back, she will win the title on her own.

JOshi-Mania

Adam Pearce organises another contract signing, but Giulia and Iyo refuse to sign because they want Asuka. Pearce invites Asuka out. Asuka is ambushed by Kairi, Giulia and Iyo Sky go out and join the fight. Adam Pearce demands order, but the women do not listen until they are eventually subdued. Adam Pearce says if they are so willing to fight then fine, all 4 of them can do it at Wrestlemania.

In the lead up to Wrestlemania we have detailed vignettes each week for each of the competitors. Iyo Sky talks about her incredible Wrestlemania 41 and how she has won over the hearts and support of the fans over the past couple of years. She wants to repay them by making another moment, winning her third world championship. Asuka thanks Iyo for reawakening a fighting spirit within her she has been missing for sometime. She used to be one of the most dangerous women in the world and that woman will be back at Wrestlemania.

Giulia talks about how it took her a little over a year to come into WWE and win the world championship. She dominated outside of WWE, rightfully called the best wrestler in the world and now she has proven it. She is the reason women’s wrestling is as good as it is right now.

Kairi’s video paints her as the ultimate underdog. She talks about her rise, winning the Mae Young Classic and NXT champion. She talks about Asuka and the heartbreak that she is suffering. Kairi believed she was capable of more, so she left WWE and proved that she could be at the top of the women’s division. She refuses to be labelled as anything less than her competitors. She says the Pirate Princess is back on a quest for gold.

Wrestlemania 42

Giulia vs Iyo Sky vs Asuka vs Kairi Sane for the Women’s World Championship. A mouth-watering prospect. I haven’t even really considered who should win this match.

You could recrown Iyo Sky, one of the most over women in WWE right now and I think that popularity would maintain if not increase by the time we reach Wrestlemania 42. She is Rey Mysterio levels of lovable and I don’t think anyone would complain of her being a champion once again.

You could give the championship to Asuka. Asuka is another star who the fans have unwavering support for, whether she is face or heel. I think fans are still clamouring for a main roster title run similar to her mammoth 510 day reign as NXT women’s champion.

You could have Giulia retain. She is the least recognisable name out of the four and a victory for her would solidify her as one of the best females in WWE. Maybe it is too late for Asuka, but giving Giulia a long run as champion could benefit her a lot and rocket her towards superstardom.

However, personally, I think Kairi Sane winning would be a great choice. She has already proved how good she is and she can remind people throughout 2025/2026 competing in the IC title division. Hopefully, the betrayal of Asuka and her vignettes would paint her as a lovable underdog that the fans can connect with and get behind. Also, she is just really freaking good guys.

Kairi can win the match and then her major feud after Wrestlemania is against her former best friend Asuka, which would be pretty sick.
