John Cena. The franchise. The champ. The face that runs the place. The perfect man. When you talk about WWE and the many stars it has had throughout history, one that simply can never be overlooked is John Cena.
13 WWE Championships, 3 World Heavyweight Championships, 5 United States Championships, 2 WWE Tag Team Championships, 2 World Tag Team Championships, a 5 time Wrestlemania headliner, and a 2 time superstar of the year Slammy Award winner.
His resume speaks for itself, yet despite all of this you will still find fans saying all kinds of negative things about him whether it be that he sucks, that he’s boring, that he’s overrated, that he’s too polarizing, or that he’s just unfit to be a wrestler.
A variety of reasons are given for why fans think and feel this way, but a common one that is given is that he never developed his character at all past 2005, and to this day it could be argued that he still hasn’t done so and likely never will.
But what if he did?…
Part 1 – John Cena turns on WWE universe:
Our booking begins during the buildup to the very recent event of Survivor Series 2024. We are in the middle of the bloodline vs bloodline war as both Roman Reigns’s bloodline and Solo Sikoa’s bloodline are eagerly looking for a fourth man for each of their respective teams.
On the November 15th episode of Smackdown, the OG Bloodline come face to face with the new Bloodline and begin their attack, leaving the only two men left standing in the ring being Roman and Solo themselves.
Right before the two of them begin fighting each other however, instead of Bronson Reed coming out as the fifth member, The Rock’s music hits and out comes the final boss. The Rock stands between the two men and right as it looks like he’s about to stand beside Roman as his fifth man against Solo’s bloodline, he then suddenly turns to Roman and hits him with a Rock Bottom, allowing Solo and his boys to attack him.
The five of them stand tall with their ones up in the air and then at the end of the show, just like irl, Roman tries to call Paul Heyman only for it to not go through.
Following this, just like irl as well, the Bloodline would struggle to find a fifth member for their team while on the next episode of Smackdown The Rock would explain his actions and reason for siding with Solo by saying that after he was hit with that spear at Wrestlemania by Roman, it got him thinking long and hard about the current predicament within the family.
And then The Rock (talking about himself in the third person again like he always does) asked himself “why should he stand side by side with someone that doesn’t even care about taking care of his own family?”.
He then goes on to say that he sided with Roman against Cody and Seth at Wrestlemania because he loved Roman and he loved his family and he would do anything to defend that honor, but he was heartbroken to see that that didn’t mean shit to Roman.
When Roman hit him with that spear, he never once checked to see if he was okay after the show and only cared for his precious Undisputed WWE Championship, and looking back on how he treated The Usos and Sami Zayn and even the wiseman Paul Heyman and looking now at how he is now that Solo has taken everything from him, it is clear to The Rock that that is how Roman always has been and always will be.
He then points to Solo and says that Solo on the other hand, he cared for the family, so much so that he’s attempted to unite them all together as one by bringing in Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Jacob Fatu when Roman refused to and even made a peace offer for them all to stand down at War Games and acknowledge him, just as he acknowledges Solo. *insert Jacob Fatu rapid head shake here upon Rock sayin he acknowledges Solo*
Solo takes the mic after The Rock is done talking and says “don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect. I took out Jimmy after Wrestlemania and I took out the wiseman when he refused to acknowledge me, and I own that. But where was Roman to defend the only cousin left that still acknowledged him? Where was Roman to save his wiseman even after all that he has done for the family?
But yet when it comes to this ula fala and being the head of the table, he’s back instantly. Don’t y’all think that’s weirdly messed up? So Roman…I’m giving you and the others one final chance since y’all can’t find a fifth man. Get out here, admit you’re defeated, surrender yourselves, join my team, and acknowledge me.”.
Out comes Roman and the OG bloodline and as Solo is about to hand the microphone off to Roman Reigns to speak, but right as he’s about to do that, John Cena’s music hits to a thunderous crowd reaction and out comes the face that runs the place to everyone’s surprise…except The Rock, who looks more laser focused than anything.
John gets in the ring, takes the mic, and stares daggers through Solo and Rock and says to them “You were wrong about one thing…they do have a fifth man…and the two of you and myself still got unfinished business after what y’all did to me at Crown Jewel and Wrestlemania 40.”
The fight then breaks out between the two teams and Roman’s bloodline and John Cena are left standing tall in the ring.
Survivor Series 2024: Roman Reigns, The Usos, Sami Zayn, and John Cena vs Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Jacob Fatu, and The Rock
The Raw and Smackdown before the PPV weren’t all that eventful for this storyline so we’ll just skip over them. The match itself plays out decently similar to how it did in real life with most of the same spots (aside from the spot where Reigns accidentally spears Punk since Punk isn’t in this now), but the final two men to enter into the match are John Cena and The Rock.
Once they’re both in the ring and the announcer yells “LET THE WAR GAMES BEGIN!”, everyone begins fighting one another while Cena and Rock just stare at one another.
They then however can be seen telling each other something though it cannot be heard what it is before they finally begin fighting one another as the crowd boos Rock every time he hits Cena and cheers Cena every time he hits Rock.
Then at one point when Rock gets the upper hand, Reigns assists Cena by this time intentionally spearing The Rock, but the Solo intervenes and attempts to Samoan Spike Roman only for Cena to intervene and hit Solo with and Attitude Adjustment. Following this, Jacob Fatu takes down both men and the fight carries on for a bit longer between everyone afterwards.
Eventually it’s once again down to just John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Solo Sikoa. Cena and Reigns are armed with chairs and are getting ready to clobber Rock and Solo with them. But then, right as Solo is begging for mercy, The Rock raises his hand…just like at Bad Blood he counts to three on it…and then from out of nowhere JOHN CENA HITS ROMAN REIGNS IN THE BACK WITH THE STEEL CHAIR.
In a move that mirrors Seth Rollins turning on him, Roman crashes to the floor in more shock than pain as both everyone on Roman’s team and everyone on Solo’s team (aside from The Rock) look on in complete surprise.
Sami Zayn then gets in Cena’s face saying things like “What the hell are you doing?!” and “We trusted you! We believed in you! These fans believed in you!”, but Cena is having none of it and then hits Sami with the chair several times in an aggressive manner before doing the same thing to Roman.
Jacob and the Tongans then deal with The Usos as The Rock hits a Rock Bottom on Reigns, personally handing him off to Solo himself afterwards where Solo then hits 10 Samoan Spikes on Roman just like he did to Cena at Crown Jewel, all while Cena just watches on coldly. Solo covers Roman for the 1…2…3…, winning the match all thanks to John Cena.
The next Raw following the Pay Per View, The Rock stands in the ring and announces to everyone “Ladies and gentlemen…please welcome…the new John Cena. And then out comes John Cena with a whole new entrance theme and wearing an expensive suit…
