I’m pretty sure the majority of people think that Wrestlemania 32 was not really a good WrestleMania. One of the main reasons was due to the lack of star power, as many active wrestlers were out injured (Cena, Orton, Rollins etc).
Anyway, this post considers the best scenario in my opinion if everyone was healthy by the time WrestleMania 32 hit. Here goes.
WrestleMania 32
Pre-show: Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal – Baron Corbin wins the Battle Royal by eliminating Kane
I really believed there was a lot of potential when Corbin won the battle royal. I think we all know how much winning this battle royal means so let’s not make any changes and just move on.
Match 1: Kevin Owens (c) vs Sami Zayn – WWE Intercontinental Championship
What better way than starting off WrestleMania with two off-screen best friends, on-screen bitter rivals once again doing what they do best in the ring. This time, adds a little spice on it with the IC belt up for grabs as well.
The story is simple with these two. I’d just continue straight ahead building their feud after Zayn’s appearance in the Royal Rumble match. It’s Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn after all. You can hardly go wrong booking them in a feud considering their chemistry with each other.
Oh by the way, Owens retains, considering this was just their 1st big-time encounter on the main roster.
Match 2: Kalisto (c) vs Ryback vs Neville vs Cesaro vs Zack Ryder vs Stardust vs Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz – 8-man ladder match for the United States Championship
Same format as the original IC Title ladder match that happened in real life. Zack Ryder gets his Wrestlemania moment.
Match 3: AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho
The only thing that changes here is AJ winning the match in the end. Jericho tries to fake showing respect to AJ by hugging him after the match, much like what happened 13 years ago. However, AJ saw this coming and nails him with another Styles Clash. AJ Styles leaves his 1st Wrestlemania looking very strong.
Match 4: Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks vs Becky Lynch vs Bayley – Fatal 4 Way for the WWE Women’s Championship
I added Bayley in this match so that the four horsewomen can battle against each other on the grandest stage of them all. I would have had Bayley drop the NXT Women’s Title way sooner at London to Asuka. Afterwards, Bayley would debut on the main roster around the same time when both Sasha and Becky were targeting Charlotte’s Divas Title.
This resulted in Charlotte having to defend her title against all the other 3 horsewomen.
Anyway, Lita and Trish Stratus presented the new Women’s Title together before the match. The match was given 20+ minutes and all 4 women had adequate time to showcase their skills. In the end, Charlotte pinned Bayley after a Natural Disaster to win the new Women’s Title.
Match 5: Sting, Randy Orton, and Bray Wyatt vs The Armageddon (Braun Strowman, Eric Rowan and Luke Harper)
This is assuming Sting did not get injured by Rollins at Night of Champions and Orton came back prior to WM 32. Anyway, here’s the backstory:
Sting faced Bray Wyatt at Survivor Series and lost to Bray Wyatt after interference from the Wyatt Family. After the match, the other members started attacking Sting except for Bray. Bray told them to back off and the other members reluctantly agreed. For the first time ever, Bray showed actual respect to his opponent.
Fast forward to TLC. Sting demanded a rematch against Bray Wyatt. Bray Wyatt agreed to face Sting but in a tables match pitting Sting and a partner against Bray and Braun Strowman. Sting chose Big Show as his tag team partner.
At TLC, Sting and Big Show won the match when Wyatt and Strowman got into an argument. Sting took the chance to perform a Stinger Splash to Wyatt through a table planted on a corner. The other members attacked Sting and Big Show again after the match. They knocked Sting out and put Big Show through an announce table, writing Big Show off temporarily, all while Bray was out.
The following Raw, Bray publicly scolds the Wyatt Family for taking actions on their own in the ring where Strowman has had enough and confronted him again. Both Rowan and Harper ease the tension as Bray lays out a challenge to Sting again in a Steel Cage at Royal Rumble. Bray promises there will be no interference. Sting accepts the challenge.
At Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt beats Sting clean in a Steel Cage match. After the match, Bray helps Sting to the feet and offers a handshake. Before Sting could shake Bray’s hand, the other members of the Wyatt Family came out and attacked them both, effectively ending The Wyatt Family.
The following week on Raw, Braun Strowman has taken over the Wyatt Family and dubs the trio now as “The Armageddon”. He lays out a challenge against Bray Wyatt at Fastlane. Strowman beats Bray at Fastlane. Sting tried to help but was overwhelmed by Rowan and Harper. After the match, they continued their routine of beating down Bray and Sting until I HEAR VOICES INSIDE MY HEAD……
Randy Orton came out and RKO to both Rowan and Harper. Sting uses his baseball bat to get rid of Strowman as the three babyfaces stand tall in the end. Orton would make it clear that he wants to target Strowman as Strowman was the one that took him out of action.
Eventually, a six-man tag team match was made at WM 32 pitting Sting, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton against The Armageddon. Sting and co get the win after Sting forces Rowan to submit to the Scorpion Deathlock to wrap up the feud.
Match 6: Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe
The story is simple with this one as well. Just change the one who eliminates Brock in the Royal Rumble match to Samoa Joe who makes his main roster debut on that night. Have Joe brag about how Lesnar fears him.
When Lesnar eventually confronts Joe, Joe doesn’t back down and goes straight up to attack Brock. Just have these 2 engage in a heated rivalry then boom! You don’t need a title to make this feud interesting, unlike 2017.
Anyway, Lesnar goes over at Wrestlemania. I don’t want Brock losing 2 consecutive Manias. I would have Joe go over in an Extreme Rules match after Mania at Extreme Rules. Eventually, the decisive bout takes place at Summerslam later that year.
Match 7: The New Day and Booker T vs The League of Nations – 8 man tag team match
I have the tag team titles being up for grabs at Raw before Wrestlemania. I also have the League of Nations consistently messing with Booker T, who I assume is an active commentator on Raw around this time.
Booker T would finally have enough of LON and cost them the tag titles against The New Day before WM. It was later made official Booker would team up with New Day against LON. LON won the match after Sheamus Brogue kicked Booker T.
After the match, Stone Cold came out to a great ovation to ruin LON’s celebration. He stuns every member of LON, before doing a beer bash, celebrating with Booker in front of their home state fans together with The New Day as well. Like in real life, Stone Cold stuns Xavier Woods during the celebration and the show rolls on.
Match 8: Triple H vs Shane McMahon – Street Fight
The story plays the same with Shane coming back and wanting power to run WWE. Vince says Shane can run WWE if he beats instead of The Undertaker, Triple H. In my opinion, it makes much more sense if HHH was the one chosen to fight Shane. Anyway, HHH beats Shane in this bout.
Match 9: The Undertaker vs John Cena
I am assuming Cena is healthy in this one. There were heavy rumors of Cena going into this Mania would be facing Undertaker anyway prior to the former’s injury. So, let’s just roll with it. Instead of the squash that took place at WM 34, Cena is ready for Undertaker this time as the match is made official prior to Wrestlemania. Undertaker beats John Cena with a Tombstone Piledriver after Cena nearly made it to 22-2 in an epic match.
Match 10: Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match
In this timeline, Reigns beats Rollins at Survivor Series for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship much to the dismay of the majority of WWE fans. Roman promises to be a fighting champion and has shown to be one by defending the title against the likes of Rusev, Sheamus, Neville, and Cesaro on PPVs and free TVs but the fans still deny him. This has caused Reigns to at times, show frustration in his matches and behave aggressively.
Meanwhile, Reigns’ buddy, Dean Ambrose is having big-time fan support and even won the 2016 Royal Rumble Match. As Dean is heading into his first Wrestlemania main event, he tells Roman it’s all business and no hard feelings in the bout in which Roman gladly agrees. This has made it official for Roman Reigns to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Title against Dean Ambrose at Wrestlemania 32.
Suddenly, Seth Rollins decides to invoke his title rematch clause to add himself in the mix of Wrestlemania 32 title match. He promises the greatest heist of all time by stealing everything from his former Shield brothers.
In the meantime, Seth continuously messes with Roman’s mind by telling how the fans hate him and side with Dean instead. Meanwhile, Dean wants Roman to give his 100% in the match and claims to not care who wins by the end of the night as long as Seth gets what he deserves.
Eventually, the match happens. Roman had the match won when he speared Rollins for the second time in the match but Dean broke up the cover. This caused Roman to stare at Dean in frustration and disappointment while the crowd roars like crazy.
In the end, it was Dean Ambrose who picked up the W by pinning Seth Rollins to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
After the match, Roman hands Dean the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and raises his hand before pulling Dean into a wicked clothesline. Roman then continues to pound down Dean in the ring. He then gets a steel chair outside the ring and smashes both Dean and Seth who are lying in the ring.
Roman proceeds to hit countless chair shots on the back of his former Shield brothers. As Roman stops, he looks at the hugely booing crowds in confusion before laughing like a maniac. Wrestlemania 32 ends with Roman Reigns turning heel and the crowd throwing garbage to the ring, deja vu to a famous heel turn that took place 20 years ago.
