Summer Of Punk P2
If you missed part 1, what are you doing? Read part 1 first! Here it is. Now you’re good to go…here is Summer of Punk part 2.
The next night on RAW, CM Punk opens the show to a huge reaction. CM Punk tells the crowd that he re-signed with the WWE because after all that he’s done to make this business better “John Cena, Triple H and The Rock were once again the ones on the marquee closing out Survivor Series when those three have done nothing to deserve it and also perhaps most egregious of all, if you go on WWE.com, John Cena is listed as WWE Champion.

Now I was fine with Rey Mysterio or Alberto Del Rio being called Champion in his absence because they earned it in their own right but, John Cena lost to me and then proceeded to lose match after match before taking a month off, receiving another undeserved title shot, before finally getting the job done. So clearly CM Punk’s work is far from finished.”
John Cena then interrupts and tells Punk “Welcome back but now that you’re here put that title down because it doesn’t belong to you.” Punk says to Cena “You can call me a fake champion all you want but remember who lost to give me this title to begin with. Let’s be honest if anyone is the fake champion it’s you John. Your title is not much better than anything that these fans can pick up on WWEshop.com so long as you’re standing in the ring with a man that you haven’t beaten.
Because that’s what it is a replica made to replace the belt that I have. You’ve won this title so many times, but that also means you’ve lost it so many times. In reality John, no one is a bigger loser in the history of this company, in title fights, than you.”

Cena responds saying “You’re right Punk, there is no one to blame for you masquerading as champion other than me. You’re also right about how, for every accolade to my name there is also a loss that goes with it. The difference between you and me is every single time I lose I come back better than I was before, that’s what you fail to understand Punk that whether or not these people appreciate me for it, I do it because I appreciate them.
I comeback every time and I win this title back because these fans and our locker room deserve a champion that’s gonna fight, not a champion that’s gonna walk out on them. I will keep fighting because at TLC HHH has told me that we will have a TLC match where we both put our titles on the line and we decide who’s really the fake champion.” Punk responds saying “At TLC I’m gonna be the loss you don’t get up from.”
Throughout the build Punk finds out that the locker room isn’t welcoming Punk back with open arms like he had thought they would.
Triple H is asked in an interview why he brought CM Punk back. “I brought Punk back because as COO of this company I have a duty to provide the biggest possible matchup to these fans and finding out who the real world champion is the biggest main event we can have for TLC.
I don’t like CM Punk, as a matter of fact, I hate CM Punk. He walked out on this company and started giving undeserving challengers all over the world, title shots making a mockery of all those who have fought for that title and for this company.
CM Punk has said some terrible things about me, my wife and the rest of my family, but the fans deserve to know who the true champion is. However, off the record if you want to know who I’m rooting for at TLC, let’s just say his name isn’t Phil.”
Triple H also has John Laurinitis representing the board of directors confront him for bringing Punk back saying that “The board doesn’t approve of the rehiring of CM Punk and if Punk were to become undisputed champion at TLC then Triple H’s standing as COO has to be called into question.” From then on in the build HHH is more hostile towards Punk as he now is clearly rooting for Cena.
Cena tells Triple H that he doesn’t want his help at TLC and he has to do it on his own.
On the go home show Punk tells Cena “You’re gonna be main eventing WrestleMania against the Rock, and I’m not stupid I know that I can’t do anything about you main eventing WrestleMania this year but, that means after I win your title, for only the second time in the last 17 years a World Title won’t be main eventing and maybe that will cause changes to start to be made around here, because while I may not be able to stop you from main eventing WrestleMania this year I can make sure it is the last time that you do.”
A brawl starts between the two men to close out the TLC go home show.
TLC December 18, 2011:
Tables Ladders and Chairs Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) def John Cena (c); 26:18

These two tear the house down having one of the most dramatic TLC matches ever.
They hate each other and it shows. After putting each other through tables, ladders and laying each other out with chairs CM Punk is finally able to handcuff Cena to a table and elbow drop him through it before climbing up the ladder.
Triple H, whose job is on the line, runs in with a sledgehammer and nails Punk in the back with it as he’s about to grab the titles. Triple H then picks him up and looks to hit a pedigree but Cena who’s barely able to stand grabs Triple H and tells him no he doesn’t want help. HHH yells at Cena and tells him that this is bigger than him and that the future of this company relies on HHH keeping his job.
Triple H then turns back around towards CM Punk and Punk surprises him by picking him up and hitting a GTS. Cena then runs at Punk with a clothesline, but Punk ducks under picks up the Sledgehammer, Triple H introduced, and hits Cena with it.
Punk smiles at the base of the ladder as the crowd erupts before climbing up and grabbing both titles to a huge pop and becoming Undisputed WWE Champion.
Aftermath of TLC:
The Next night on RAW as Punk celebrates officially becoming WWE Champion. We do the whole WWE Superstar walkout thing here to show that the superstars have zero confidence in Triple H as COO and don’t approve of him bringing back CM Punk and allowing him to regain/retain the wwe championship. The following week Triple H is relieved of his duties as COO and replaced by John Laurinitis. Vince McMahon is also placed back into power.
Meanwhile Punk is the face of the company especially since Cena is taking a break for the holidays.
John Laurinitis, now that he is in charge, is not happy about Punk being WWE Champion so he stacks the odds against him making him defend it every week and telling him that he’s made a lot of enemies because he walked out.
Punk defends against the likes of the Miz, Jack Swagger, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. In that last match against Ziggler Dolph he wins via countout after Swagger gets involved. Thus Ziggler has a reason to ask for a rematch. He is granted that match at The Royal Rumble.
In this month CM Punk also gloats about HHH losing his job and says that the company will be better for it.
Laurinitis will be the guest enforcer because he wants to succeed where Triple H failed and make sure CM Punk doesn’t go into WrestleMania as WWE Champion.
Royal Rumble January 29, 2012:

WWE Championship With John Laurinitis as Guest Enforcer: CM Punk (c) def Dolph Ziggler; 14:52
Same match as Real Life. Laurinitis tries to screw Punk but Punk resists and wins.
Later in the match, Laurinitis puts on the referee shirt after the ref goes down and tries to count a fast count for Ziggler.
Ziggler then locks in a Sleeper hold on Punk and Laurinitis tries to screw home over by ringing the bell but Punk quickly breaks out and roundhouses kicks Laurinitis to stop him from doing this.
Punk then hits Ziggler with a GTS and the old ref gets back up and counts the 1..2..3 for Punk. Punk retains the title and leaves through the crowd – blowing a kiss to Laurinitis.
30 Man Royal Rumble Match: Won by Triple H last Eliminating Sheamus; 54:54:
Triple H enters the Rumble at number 30 and clears house. You can tell that he is on a mission and angry about losing his job.
He gets to the final two with Sheamus. Sheamus fights hard but can’t overcome HHH and The Game wins the Royal Rumble and will go to Wrestlemania.
Aftermath of Royal Rumble:
The next night, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan – the two world champions, stand in the ring and Triple H will come down and choose which one he will face at Mania.
Punk gets the mic and says no offense to Bryan, but HHH is choosing me at Mania. This is all just a formality so Hunter go retrieve your balls from Stephanie’s purse and come out here and make it official, you no talented privileged son of a bitch. HHHs music hits.
Triple H comes down to the ring, stares down Punk before walking over to Bryan and staring him down before turning back towards Punk and hitting him with the Pedigree. Triple H then starts throwing fists left and right to Punk on the mat.
He throws Punk out of the ring and clears the table. Punk tries to fight back but is met with a clothesline from HHH. Triple H then pedigree’s Punk on top of the table before grabbing the WWE Championship and points towards the WrestleMania sign.
Punk for the next number of weeks calls out HHH but he doesn’t show up saying that “Hunter is the most protected man in the history of this company and even today is being protected by this company, allowing him to stay at home so he doesn’t have to come out here and get embarrassed by me.
And he’s not protected because of how good he is, he’s protected because of how bad he is. And for the last 15 years this company has down everything in their power to hide his weaknesses while shoving whatever little bit of strengths he may have down our throats.
Triple H knows it and this company knows it too. Not even on his best day can Triple H lace me or 95% of that locker room’s boots. At WrestleMania there will be no hiding and CM Punk will expose the fraud that is Hunter Hearst Helmsley.”
Just as he mentions WrestleMania, John Laurinitis comes out and tells Punk “That’s if you make it to WrestleMania and I can assure you that you will not. And that’s because at Elimination Chamber you will put your Championship on the line against five other men, The Miz, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler.
Punk continues to taunt the Game in the weeks leading up to this, doing stuff like the DX chop to the camera.
Elimination Chamber February 19, 2012:

Elimination Chamber for The WWE Championship: Cm Punk (c) def The Miz, Chris Jericho, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth; 32:39
Same match as real life except CM Punk just straight out eliminates Jericho and there isn’t a feud between them surrounding this.
After the Match Punk, who is exhausted and severely beat up, is celebrating in the ring when from the crowd Triple H runs in and hits the Champion with a sledgehammer. The Game says “You could’ve had a great career here Champ, but you had to poke the mouth that feeds you, now I have to end it.”
He grabs a pair of handcuffs and drags Punk to the corner and cuffs him to the turnbuckle and then starts kicking Punk in the corner.
He grabs a steel chair and yells at Punk saying “The future of this business was gonna be in my control, I was gonna save this company and you stole that from me. Now I’m gonna steal something from you.”
Triple H raises the chair standing over defenceless Punk and threatens to hit Punk over the head with it but stops and says “I’ll leave the rest of that for WrestleMania”
HHH drops the chair before turning back and kneeing Punk in the corner knocking him out. HHH leaves as Punk is attended to by medical.
With Triple H wrapped up in a feud with CM Punk. The Undertaker fight Chris Jericho instead at Mania.
CM Punk comes out the next night on RAW despite being held back by doctors as he’s not medically cleared, comes down to the ring and demands Triple H. The Game’s music hits however, he is surrounded by security. Triple H says “I already sent my message at Elimination Chamber, I already have the match I want for WrestleMania and lucky for you I’m a patient man and can wait until WrestleMania to get my hands on you again.
You aren’t medically cleared at the moment, so this security is out here to protect you more so than it is to protect me. You are finally getting your big match at WrestleMania and we wouldn’t want your reckless behaviour to spoil that.”
Punk says that after all he’s done to get to this spot a few security guards won’t stop me from getting my hands on you. Triple H laughs this off and says “Even if you can fight through these security guards, though I’m trying to hold back to protect you for WrestleMania, if I am attacked I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold myself back and Punk unlucky for you, you’re not the most popular guy in that locker room.
So there’s no one back there that is gonna stop me from taking you out of action not just for WrestleMania but permanently.” Punk says “I’ll take my chances.” He runs towards the security guards and try to fight through them but there’s to many of them and they hold him back.
Just as he looks to be getting a second wind to try and push through Kofi Kingston’s music hits. Punk gets back into the ring as his friend and former tag team partner walks down to the ring.
Triple H says “This is something I actually wanted to talk to you about Punk. Since you’ve come back you’ve been claiming that everything you did was for the betterment of this industry, whether or not you made this industry better as you so claim you certainly didn’t make our locker room better.
You left countless people behind and you stole and devalued a prize in the WWE Championship that people have committed their lives to achieving. By doing so you not only disrespected the current locker room but you disrespected the legends that came before. Ain’t that right Kofi.”
Kofi tells Punk that what he’s not understanding is that when he left in July the locker room felt as if he disrespected everyone that has fought for that championship or has strived to. He says “You can walk out and parade around with that championship and say you are making the wrestling business stronger but the ones you are hurting are the people you left behind.
You say you’re for the people yet the people that buy their ticket to see you didn’t get to see you for four months. You hurt numbers by leaving which then trickles down and hurts the paychecks of all the talent you left behind. Triple H on the other hand has been here dedicating himself to this company for the last 15 years.”
It’s becoming clear that HHH is making Kofi say this and Punk says “ I don’t know what he did to make you say this, but when I was gone for the first time in a long time John Cena wasn’t on the marquee taking the spotlight from others Alberto Del Rio and a man that has deserved that spotlight for a long time in Rey Mysterio got that spot.
The man that you’re taking the side of certainly does not have the best interests of the talent in mind. Triple H has spent his entire 15 year career burying talent and raising the brass ring so he was the only that could succeed and he will continue to hurt young talent if no one fights like I’m fighting.
Kofi, if no one could step up to sell tickets in my absence then that’s on you guys don’t come blaming me. So if you want to step up Kofi then I’ll give you the chance to step up. I’m gonna put my title on the line against you next week.” Triple H is trying to create further tension between Punk and the locker room and his plan is obviously working.
The following week Punk and Kofi open Monday Night Raw in a match for the WWE Championship. Triple H is in commentary for this match. While on commentary Triple H says that Punk is a lying hypocrite and his redirect is dangerous to this business as well up and coming talent.
Kofi and Punk have a great match but Punk ends up winning after a GTS to retain the title.
Post match Kofi is having trouble getting up and is helped up by Punk. The two men then shake hands and hug. Punk leaves and says to Triple H hell of a plan. Triple H is clearly mad by this. After Punk leaves Kofi is standing in the ring and gets blindsided by Triple H.
HHH beats Kofi down. Punk once again runs out to try and help Kofi but security comes and blocks Punk from getting to the ring. Triple H continues the beatdown and Kofi has to be helped out by doctors.
Later in the night Triple H is leaving the arena, when he is jumped from out of nowhere by CM Punk, who is furious at what HHH did to his friend. Punk is able to get a few good shots in but is ripped of HHH by security and the game is loaded into his limo.
The following week on RAW, Shawn Michaels is advertised to appear.
That episode of RAW begins with CM Punk running around backstage asking if anyone knows where Triple H is, but no one seems to know.
Later in the night HBK comes down to the ring to make a special announcement. He announces that Mike Tyson this year will be inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame and that him and Triple H will induct him.
After he announces this CM Punks music hits. Punk walks down to the ring and asks Shawn – “if anyone knows where I can find Triple H I assume it would be you. So where is he?”
Shawn tells Punk he’s not here tonight. Punk annoyed goes to leave the ring, however Shawn tells him to wait. HBK says “You know Punk it’s a dangerous game you’re playing with Triple H. I’ve known Hunter for a very long time and I know from first-hand experience he will stop at nothing to get what he wants and what he wants is that WWE championship and you gone.
So if I were you I’d think before I keep poking the bear because if you don’t, what happens at WrestleMania is gonna be a whole lot worse for you.” Punk says “it’s a shame what’s happened to you and Triple H. You two used to be D-Generation X, a group that used to be as anti authority as it comes.
You’d push the boundaries of what you can say and do on live tv. Now cut to fifteen years later and Triple H represents authority and you have become his very own corporate suck up.
You know what the worst part is? That if you were to come up now or even in Triple Hs evolution days when he had the golden shovel, you fit the exact mold of someone that he wouldn’t have hesitated to bury to keep himself ahead. It’s funny how life is, isn’t it.”
Shawn tells Punk “You remind me a lot of myself back in the 90s.” Punk butts in and says “Except the only kind of rehab I’ve been in is to heal an injury.” Which gets a pop from the crowd. Shawn responds saying “As I was saying you’re arrogant, you’re anti authority, you’re brash and you talk way too much for your own good.
At WrestleMania Punk, I sure hope Triple H shuts you up, just as I hoped someone would’ve shut me up back when I was younger.” Punk responds saying “You know Shawn I respect you a lot, but I was always more of a Bret guy.” After saying this he immediately picks up HBK and hits him with a go to sleep. Punk says “Tell Hunter that now we’re even.”
The following week on RAW, Shawn Michaels is advertised to appear.
The next episode of RAW starts similarly to the way the previous weeks RAW began, but instead this time it’s Triple H searching for CM Punk. After not being able to find him, Triple H goes down to the ring.
Triple H says “I told you that I didn’t want to do any more damage to you before WrestleMania as I wanted to make sure that nothing would jeopardize our match. However, Shawn told you last week to not poke the bear and you did exactly that so now I’m going to show you what happens when you do so come on down here Punk.”
CM Punk’s music hits and he starts running down to the ring to go after HHH, when security gets in the way and holds him back. HHH gets on the mic and tells the security to let him through, but when they don’t listen Triple H goes at them and starts fighting through security to get to Punk.
They both fight through and start coming to blows with each other. They brawl throughout the arena and into the backstage area, Leaving security guards and other officials down in their path. After a little while they are finally separated.
Later in the night Stephanie McMahon comes down to the ring. She says that she’d like her husband Triple H to join her in the ring. Triple H comes down.
Stephanie says “Paul, you are letting CM Punk get to you way too much and in doing so he is allowing you to damage yourself, this company and countless innocent security guards and officials. That is why the company along with me, has come to the decision that between now and Wrestlemania you and CM Punk are not allowed to lay your hands on one another and if you do, the WWE Championship match is cancelled.
I’m sorry Paul but it is for your own good.” Punks music then hits and CM Punk walks down to the ring. Punk gets a mic and tells HHH that “After all these years your wife is still protecting you. She protected you repeatedly to allow you to get to this point. You owe your entire career to her because if it wasn’t for her, Triple Hs main event push would’ve failed.
Even now you owe your career being allowed to continue because she’s protecting you from me. How many times must he have slept with you last night for her to be doing this for you.”
Stephanie turns towards Punk enraged and slaps him. Punk then tries to lunge towards Triple H but Stephanie is standing in the way and as Punks about to get by Stephanie, she kicks him in the balls. Triple H looks at Punk on the ground smiles and leaves with Stephanie.
The next week Triple H is once again not there and Punk says “Every week it’s something else. Last week his wife protected him and this week he’s not here again.” Punk is then interrupted by Mr. McMahon.

McMahon is furious at Punk for what he said to his daughter the week before. He tells Punk he wants to make sure he knows exactly what’s at stake at WrestleMania “Punk if you lose you not only lose your championship but you lose your job. At WrestleMania you will be forgotten about just like everyone who has ever overstepped their spot in this company.”
Punk says “You can try all you want to bury me like you’ve buried so many others who got more over than you wanted them to, but I’m not going away because win or lose these people won’t let me.
They will chant my name in whatever city you are in, and you will hear the name CM Punk till you die, your children and your grandchildren and whoever other family member of yours runs this company in the future will hear the name CM Punk.
They didn’t stop chanting my name when I left with the WWE Championship. What makes you think they’ll stop if I’m screwed out of the WWE Championship at WrestleMania?” Vince responds saying “Who do you think you are, I own you, I own these people and if I want to make them forget about you I can do that.
You may think you’re special but you’re not. Triple H is special, I’m special, The McMahon family is special, you are one small stain on my legacy and at WrestleMania the Cerebral Assassin will wipe that stain out.”
CM Punk says “The only stain in this ring right now is you. Vincent Kennedy McMahon was and continues to be a stain on the wrestling business and I know Triple H is gonna try and make sure that stain keeps spreading, but I’m not gonna let him.
Because after all these years through scandals and through competition, the thing that will take you down started back in 2005 when you hired CM Punk.”
Punk begins to walk away but Vince tries to low blow him, however Punk catches it before picking Vince up and hitting him with a GTS to a huge pop.

On the go home show to WrestleMania the following week there is a contract signing for WrestleMania. Punk opens by telling HHH that “It was a mistake to make it so we can’t lay a finger on each other before WrestleMania because now I can say whatever I want.”
Here you just let Punk and Triple H go 25 minutes back and forth unscripted. Mention their real life beef, have Punk talk about all the backstage politics Triple H has played. Have Punk talk about Chyna, mention how he slept way to the top. Have Triple H mention that even if he loses at WrestleMania he won’t lose, because it’s just a part of the Game and the Game always wins.
CM Punk says that “Even if in the end it’s for nothing he’s competing at WrestleMania for everyone this company has ever disrespected, stifled or buried and most of all he’s fighting for his career and since it’s now no holds barred at Mania, if he’s losing his career on Sunday then he’s going to do everything in his power to make sure HHH loses his too.”
After they go back and forth for a while a man in a hoodie comes into the ring and super-kicks Punk. The man takes the hoodie up and reveals that it’s HBK. Triple is laughing and he hands Shawn a pair of handcuffs. HBK then cuffs Punk to the turnbuckle. Triple H picks the mic back up and says “You just don’t listen Punk, we told you not to poke the bear so now you are not just fighting for your career but as an added caveat Shawn Michaels will be the special guest enforcer for our match on Sunday.”
So you better enjoy your last few days in this company because after WrestleMania you will never step foot in the WWE again and I’ll be WWE Champion. If you thought you didn’t like the Triple H eras in the past then you haven’t seen nothing yet. Like I said the game never loses.”
Triple H holds up the WWE Championship in front of Punk handcuffed in the corner to end the segment.
Wrestlemania 28 April 1, 2012:

No Holds Barred Match for the WWE Championship with Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Enforcer (If CM Punk loses he’s fired): CM Punk (c) def Triple H; 30:53
Earlier in the night Vince says to Triple H backstage that he better get the job done against Punk and that if he does he may be willing to grant him his old job back.
Both men make huge WrestleMania entrances, with Punk particularly walking out to a huge reaction.
These two go to war in this match and it’s a huge fight feel.
Right off the bat they just begin brawling back and forth throwing stiff shot after stiff shot to each other.
They put each other through tables and hit each other with chairs. Triple H of course introduces a sledgehammer and hits him which gets a close two.
Punk steals the pedigree of Triple H and uses it on him for a kick out. Punk then hits a sweet chin music before doing a crotch chop but also only getting a two. Instigating Michael’s at ringside who has not yet gotten involved.
Triple H gets handcuffs and cuffs Punk’s hands together before beating him down with a chair. He then grabs Punk and tries to hit him with a Pedigree but Punk reverses with back body drop onto steel steps. Punk uses the ring post to break the handcuffs and gloats at HBK when outside the ring.
He then goes back into the ring and HHH tries to hit Punk with a chair shot to the head, but Punk stops him with a roundhouse and picks HHH up and tries to hit him with a GTS but is then hit with a Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels. Triple H crawls over Punks body.
The ref counts 1..2.. but Punk kicks out to the stun of Triple H and the crowd.
Triple H picks Punk back up and tries to pedigree him onto a steel chair but Punk once again roundhouses kicks the game and runs at HBK. He grabs him and picks him up for the GTS but gets low blowed by HHH. Triple H then gets up and Pedigrees Punk onto a steel chair.
The Game then grabs the steel steps again and looks to Pedigree punk on top of them but Punk reverses and hits a side slam before locking in the anaconda vice to HHH onto the steel steps. Triple H looks like he’s about to tap but Shawn once again breaks it up. Punk then grabs Shawn and pushes him into the corner as Triple H from behind readies the sledgehammer waiting for Punk to turn around.
HHH runs towards him but Punk ducks under and the Game hits his friend Shawn Michaels with a Sledgehammer accidentally. HHH then turns around and gets scooped up into a GTS, but Triple H once again gets down and turns Punk around and hits the Pedigree.
HHH covers Punk and the ref counts 1..2… and another kick out. HHH screams at Punk to stay down but Punk dazed spits in Hunters face. HHH angrily kicks him in the gut and goes for another pedigree but Punk fights out and hits a side slam and locks in the Anaconda Vice again and this time, Triple H after fighting for a minute, taps out and Punk retains the WWE Championship.
The crowd pops huge for this result.
CM Punk has beaten Triple H and has saved his championship as well as his career. JR, who’s on commentary, says “We thought tonight was going to usher in the Triple H era, but it seems as if the CM Punk era is now truly upon us.”
Punk celebrates and jumps into the crowd blowing a kiss to Triple H in the ring.
Credit to SeaWorthinessRoyal29 for this re-booking of the summer of Punk.
