AEW Double Or Nothing 2025 Preview & Predictions

All Your Wrestling

It’s that time of year again—AEW Double or Nothing is back and the 2025 card is packed with 8 matches. This year’s show goes down on Sunday, May 25 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona. So grab an Ospreay beer bruv and let’s run through the matches, along with my personal picks and predictions!

Hayter’s return has been a strange one. Injured for quite some time and then returning at the All In pre-show was kind of a strange feeling. She was built up to be a big deal before her injury and should have returned in a big way. But here we are, quite some time later and this version of Hayter is now in the final of the Owen. Will she win? Not in my opinion.

She is great, but I feel as though she is missing something at the moment and even though Mercedes is the TBS champion, I think she is going to win this one. Mercedes Moné hasn’t come to AEW to play second fiddle. She’s shown she can hang with anyone and she’s got that big-match aura. I think we’re looking at the next #1 contender. A match at All In Texas between Mone and Toni Storm is where the money is.

Prediction: Mercedes Mone

Lashley and Shelton bring legitimacy and experience, but the Sons of Texas have this weird chemistry that works. Dustin is ageless, and Sammy’s matured a ton since his early AEW days. Are they winning? Zero chance! The Hurt Syndicate are flying right now and with MJF now in the mix, I can see him costing the Sons of Texas the match and give them a good ol’ whipping after the bell.

Prediction: The Hurt Syndicate

Strange one this. The match was added quite late and it’s a stretcher match for some reason. What the hell, let’s go with it. So Ricochet has been absolute fire since joining AEW and his heel character is one of the best things on AEW TV at the moment. I must admit, Mark Briscoe has grown on me a lot over the past year. Mainly due to his insanely humourus promos and crazy wrestling style. This should be a fun brawl, and is hard to call, but I’m going to go with Ricochet to keep the momentum going.

Prediction: Ricochet

double

Another slightly odd match, but McGuinness is back in the ring so I’m not complaining too much! FTR have been brutalising as many legends or commentators as possible over the past few weeks and McGuinness can’t take no more. With Garcia firing him up, they will take on one of the greatest tag teams of recent memory. McGuiness to pick up the win for his team is the prediction.

Prediction: Garcia & McGuinnness

double

A very late addition to the card. Okada has been used very sparingly since joining the ranks and it seems as though he is heading towards Texas against Omega. My first thoughts about this match were, what the hell? Come on build it up at least! Then my next thought was, holy shit, Okada vs Speedball? That’ll be insane! So mixed feelings about this. The match will likely be top-drawer but I am a bit miffed there hasn’t been a good build.

Prediction: Okada

There’s no way to predict this chaos accurately, but it’s gonna be wild. We’re talking The Elite, Death Riders, and The Opps just going full mayhem mode across the building. You’ll need a second screen just to keep up.

I don’t want to jump on the bandwagon of Death Riders haters, but hell, this storyline ran out of steam months ago. I know we are stalling here until All In, where Mox will certainly lose the title. Could there be a surprise run-in at the end of the match? We know Gabe Kidd will be kicking around but is it too soon for Darby? I only mention his name because knowing Darby, he’s probably skateboarded back down Everest to make it back in time for this, who knows?

Prediction: Death Riders

There are a lot of these matches where I feel they are just getting by, towards ALL IN. This is another. I can’t see Mina winning, unless we get a shocking return from a certain someone to cost Toni the match. That’s a possibility, but I can’t see Mina heading to Texas as champ, so I’m plumping for a Mariah return after the final bell.

Prediction: Timeless Toni Storm

Now this is how you build a main event match! The promo this past Wednesday was great and sold why both men NEED to win this huge match. The winner goes to ALL IN to challenge Moxley and surely will be the next AEW World Champion. Hangman wants this to put right his 2 years of torture. Ospreay wants it to carry the company forward into a new era and to also take the title home for Forbidden Door. It’s a hard one to call and I would be happy for either to win this.

Prediction: Will Ospreay

I’m usually very excited for AEW PPV’s, but this one I’m struggling with. I think with ALL IN around the corner it is blurring things a little. I can’t see any of the titles changing hands here, and some are not even on the card. Adam Cole is our new TNT champion but isn’t on the card.

Once again, the Trios Titles are missing and of course, the world title is not on the line here, which I really hate for a PPV. There also seems like there are a few fillers here.

I think Mercedes/Hayter and Ospreay/Page are going to be the 5star matches here and to be fair, these matches have sold me the PPV. The Anarchy in the Arena match should be entertaining chaos and there should also be some great stuff elsewhere on the card.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
