WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results & Thoughts

All Your Wrestling By All Your Wrestling 2 Nov 2025 3 min read

So another Saturday Night’s Main Event has come and gone. This event had 4 top matches booked and here I will give my honest thoughts on the event. Strap in!

Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre – Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre facing off in a wrestling ring during Saturday Night's Main Event, with a referee present in the background.

This match kicks off the event, which is the way WWE books things when they have both major titles being defended on a show. I love McIntyre (as a fellow Brit) and I am pulling for a Drew win here, but realistically, I think Cody retains.

I love how they tease the stipulation throughout the match – that Cody can lose the title if he is counted out or disqualified. When Cody went through the announce table, we got the quickest count by a ref I have ever seen!

The macth finishes with Cody hitting a DDT on the title and then following with a Cross Rhodes. 1-2-3.

Cody has been winning, not as clean as he could, being a top babyface. Are they planting the heel seeds? I hope so. But where does Drew go now?

I think they should put the title on Drew, he’s a machine. But I can’t see where he goes now.

Tiffany Stratton vs Jade Cargill – WWE Women’s Championship

A wrestler celebrating and holding up the WWE Women's Championship belt in the ring, with fans cheering in the background.

The Jade heel turn finally happened and here we get a title opportunity for the former AEW star.

Wow! What was this? 5 minutes? Jade becomes the new champion in what can only be described as a squash over the champion, who had held the title for over 300 days.

I must admit, I think heel Jade is far superior to babyface Jade and I hope she kicks on from here.

Dominik Mysterio vs Penta vs Rusev – Intercontinental Title

‘Dirty’ Dom has been the IC champ now since WrestleMania, and has got some pretty impressive victories under his cheating belt. I would have liked a few more feuds for him since WM, but it seems now we are getting something decent with his interactions with Penta and now Rusev.

Penta has lit WWE alight since joining the company and as much as I’d like to say the same for Rusev, he isn’t quite there yet.

Love the Dom throwing the chair to Rusev and the ref telling him it’s no DQ! Ha! Also loved the spot with Rusev locking in the Accolade and the bell ringing – only for it to be revealed that Dom was ringing the bell, and breaking Rusev’s hold.

Quite an enjoyable match with Dom retaining through shenanigans. 195 days and counting as champ.

Cena’s Last Ride

It is announced that there will be a tournament to decide John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. Pretty cool idea, rather than just hand-picking an opponent. I like it.

Jey Uso vs CM Punk – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

So here we go. ‘Main Event’ vs ‘Best in the World’. For the vacant title. Do we get another stab at Jey being champ or do we get the Punk reign that has seemed inevitable since his return.

The match? Well, it’s ok. Let’s be honest – it’s not getting me excited. I think we have seen better earlier tonight with the other matches. Both men seem a bit gassed.

Anyway, the match ends after several superkicks and then 2 GTS’s and we have Punk as our new champion. Correct decision.

Punk

Jey seems to have so much crowd support and I think he does have some main event aura about him, but when he gets in the ring something just doesn’t click for me.

And there we have it. The next time we watch Saturday Night’s Main Event we will be watching Cena’s last match and it will truly be the end of an era.

Thanks for reading.
