WWE live shows missing the wrestling side of things

this n that

As you probably have noticed, whether it is Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown, WWE’s shows are made up of mostly backstage skits and in-ring promos while so very lacking in the wrestling side of things.

WWE with the E being entertainment relies largely on storylines. Storylines are ways to draw the audience in and have them eating out of the palms of their hands. But saying that, with a 2-3 hour show consisting of roughly 30 minutes of ring time is uncalled for. There needs to be a balance of in-ring work and story building and the company doesn’t seem to grasp that.

I tried to put myself in Papa H’s shoes to see why the lack of wrestling and heavy on the stories and I came up with a solution. I know Netflix pays WWE to put on top-notch shows and to keep the audience from flipping to the next big Netflix Documentary but wrestlers wrestle and we want to see more wrestling.

Socials

You see, today’s day and age have platforms galore out there. Whether it is Youtube or TikTok, these can generate quite the income. So why use up a 2-3 wrestling show with mostly skits when you can use any of these social media sites and earn more money? Hmmmmm.

WWE has over 100 million Youtube subscribers, 86 million Facebook followers, over 30 million on Instagram, etc, etc, etc. Plus then the talent themselves have a massive fan base. This screams money to me. Instead of the company raking in all of the dough, allow the talent to cut and film their own promos,  use all of these story-related elements for these sites and leave Raw, Smackdown, and NXT for all of the ring time.

I am not saying eliminate all speaking aspects to their live shows. Obviously, the shows need the kickoff promos to promote the main event, but you don’t need the abundance they currently use.

Rewarding Talent

By giving the talent the freedom to film and build the storylines using their socials and by rewarding them with the extra cash their views bring in. This will then free up way more time on live TV for things like building up number-one contenders, building up each division, and mostly giving more talent the exposure they might not get under the current format.

Also using Youtube, WWE could film the matches from their Live Events and post them separately, with the money made from those going towards talent bonuses. I’m not talking a live show type of production, just a simple one with perfect enough quality to capture the in-ring work and the audience reactions.

So basically all I am saying is there is so much extra money this money machine of a company could make which then in turn could go into the hands of the talent which would result in more in-ring work, more use of championships, divisions and most importantly more work for the ones who are patiently waiting to land just a smidge of TV time.

I’ll be back soon with more this n that on all things wrestling!
