So I’m sitting here and decided there are a few things I want to discuss. So here are my random thoughts this Thursday!

Hangman and Swerve

So I’ve watched this promo 4 times now. I haven’t watched a promo that has got me like that in years. Both are fantastic and together they create magic. Well done to all involved here and I can’t wait to watch the cage match. How will it end?

Bryan Danielson

His moment at Wembley was sensational and such a high for him and the company. Yet here he is just over a week later, just a few days before his 1st title defence, and he is on commentary for a trios match!? Very lacklustre for me.

Britt Baker

There has been so much speculation about Britt over recent weeks. First of all, people were speculating that she is trouble backstage and got into a tiff with MJF that got her suspended (albeit a very short suspension). Then her match got panned at Wembley, with some arguing that she phoned in her performance and isn’t looking very motivated.

Since Wembley, she has vanished. It feels like something is going on here. Maybe some personal issues (Adam Cole, Britts partner has apparently moved home, no mention if this was with Britt) so hopefully she can get sorted and back to it (if she wants to of course).

You will also have noticed that other major news sites gave you clickbait headlines like ‘Britt replaced’ but we don’t do that shit here!

Cody

Cody’s story was completed at Wrestlemania. He won the title, defeating the Bloodline and everyone was happy. Fast forward just a short few months and the fans have turned, calling his reign boring at best. All his feuds have been…OK, but too predictable.

I personally don’t mind a motivated Cody, I just hope he can get a good feud going soon before the fans start booing him like they did in AEW.

WWE Title Reigns

Thinking about Cody, remember when PPVs (or PLEs) used to come around and you would have title changes? That rarely seems to happen now with the big title. Obviously Reigns kept it for a century, but now when people talk about the main title, they say things like ‘and it’ll be Cody vs this person at WrestleMania.

I mean, why can’t Cody drop it before then? We need to believe that a title change could happen at any big event and not just at WrestleMania a year down the road. Otherwise all the other events become predictable and throwaway events.

The Bucks

I must be the only person in the world who doesn’t hate the Bucks. Haha hear me out. So before they turned, they were having super kick parties every match and don’t get me wrong, I enjoy their matches, but the time for a gimmick change was probably about right and after all, they are now heels and everyone HATES them. So they are doing OK. I get it though, they need to defend those titles more often.

I would quite like to see a tag team focus now in AEW and get some new, young and hungry teams involved – like The Outrunners!!

The ‘Fans’

It seems in recent weeks that the tribalism has exploded to incredibly new high levels. I wrote an article about this a couple of months ago (check that one out here) and it seems to have gotten much worse since then.

You only need to scroll through some of the FB pages and read some of the posts and comments to see it. I don’t understand it. I love wrestling. This week I have watched WWE, AEW, kept up on some TNA and Indie stuff. There’s been bits I’ve loved and bits I’ve not liked. But I’ve taken something from all of the stuff I’ve watched and at no point thought ‘I’m not watching that because it’s that company.’

Competition is good for the business, good for the workers and gives fans more wrestling to watch if they want to. Stop being bitches! (Not you, I mean the bitches).

The Good This Thursday

– Loved Rhea Ripleys skill in jamming her leg in the ropes.
– Hangman and swerve.
– Kyle Fletcher showing he can be a future singles star.

The Not Fussed Bit This Thursday

– Big Bill standing behind Jericho when all I want is for him to destroy him.
– Any Mercedes promo where she has a mic. She is great in the ring but a mic zzzzzz
– Wyatt Sicks – I loved Bray and I have loved Bo’s promos but his match has taken away some of the mystique for me. I would have liked to see him wrestle as Bo, and have Howdy as someone inside who he is fighting against.

Anyhow, those are my random Thursday thoughts. Might make this a weekly thing if people give 2 cents about it. Don’t know why I said 2 cents when I’m British. I’ll wrap this up now. Thanks for reading!
