WWE Fantasy Universe S1 Ep.14: Season One FInale

The main event of the Raw after No Way Out is Rhyno vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship. Both of these mammoth men showcase just how destructive they are. This colossal collision sees both Lesnar and Rhyno kick out of each other’s best moves. How can this match possibly end. Unfortunately, it ends in screwy fashion. Brock Lesnar seems poised to drop another F-5 and win back his championship, so Paul Heyman rolls in and hits Lesnar with a low blow. The referee calls for the DQ. Lesnar is victorious, but the title is not changing hands. Rhyno proceeds to ruin Lesnar with an endless barrage of Gore’s, spearing the soul out of Brock. It appears that we will be getting Rhyno vs Booker T at Wrestlemania after all.

Road To Wrestlemania

Unrelenting Beast

Paul Heyman gloats once again getting one over on Brock Lesnar. Now, Lesnar will miss his Wrestlemania payday and Rhyno will go on to run through Booker T like he has ran through everybody else. Booker T comes out and contests this. He comments on how Rhyno has only defended his championship twice and both times he has had the advantage of Paul Heyman having a personal relationship with the opponent. Heyman means nothing to Booker T and at Wrestlemania he will reach the top of the mountain in WWE, where he belongs.

Brock Lesnar’s music plays, his ribs are taped but he is ready to fight. Heyman and Rhyno get out of dodge immediately. Booker T interrupts Brock and tells him “with all due respect, you had your shot and it didn’t work out for you. That sucks, but Wrestlemania is about Booker T winning the title, not you.” Brock smiles, nods and then drops Booker T with an F-5.

Lesnar says he doesn’t care about anyone’s plans but his own. His plans are to recapture the WWE title at Wrestlemania, no matter how he gets there. Stephanie McMahon wants to give Brock what he deserves so he puts forward an opportunity. He challenges Booker T in the main event and if he wins, he gets Rhyno at Wrestlemania instead. However if Booker wins, he can choose the match stipulation and both Lesnar and Heyman will be barred from even appearing at Wrestlemania.

The match goes ahead and as dominant as Lesnar is, Booker T shows how good he is being able to weather the storm and fight back. He takes advantage of the injured ribs and comes close to winning. This match could go either way, but typically it goes neither way as Paul Heyman sends out his man-beast to wreck both men. Rhyno murders both men with numerous Gores and stands tall. Stephanie McMahon sarcastically congratulates Rhyno for cementing his Wrestlemania match. He will defend his WWE championship against both men.

The week before Wrestlemania, all 3 men attend a contract signing where non-violence is enforced or the match is called off. A sea of security guards are between all 3 men. Booker T signs the contract and says that he is being looked over by the 2 bigger men but that is fine with him. He has always been underappreciated, he looks forward to proving he deserves to be the WWE champion. Brock Lesnar signs the contract and warns Paul Heyman that not only will be reclaim the WWE title, but Heyman is getting an F-5.

Rhyno signs the contract, Paul Heyman says that both men will be made Rhyno’s bitch with gore after gore after gore. Lesnar and Booker T get hot and security try to keep them all separate. McMahon tries to remind them of the stipulation of the contract signing. Lesnar and Booker T take out all the security separating them and we get an intense 3-way standoff before Wrestlemania.

Era vs Era

A match between Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan has been teased over the course of the previous year. They have clashed a few times as Austin became a main adversary of Team Hollywood, they crossed paths in multi-man matches but never 1 on 1. That all changes at Wrestlemania, a first time clash between two of the most iconic men in wrestling history. Steve Austin talks about how their paths have crossed, but they are yet to meet one on one. Austin got involved during Hogan’s match vs The Rock because he hates Hogan.

He doesn’t care about Icon vs Icon. He cares about giving Hogan what he deserves. See, back in WCW Hulk Hogan came in with his friends. Shortly after, Steve Austin was deemed expendable and fired. Austin then came to WWE and he had to pick up the pieces left behind by Hogan. If Hogan stayed in WWE, that company would have died instead of WCW. This match between Austin and Hogan is more than just about the face of the Golden Era vs the face of the Attitude Era. This is about Austin getting redemption on behalf of the entire wrestling business.

Hulk Hogan of course takes credit for Austin’s rise, saying that without him changing wrestling with the nWo, Steve Austin would have remained a Ringmaster. He says that made wrestling popular, and he kept wrestling popular. Hogan accepts a Wrestlemania challenge from Austin, billed as ‘Era vs Era’.

Dream Match

Another star studded dream match set for Wrestlemania was also set up over the course of the previous year. Whilst Shawn Michaels and The Rock have not been prominent rivals, we have seen them cross paths and have several face to face encounters. This is less of a personal rivalry than it is a competitive one. The Rock cannot believe that people have forgotten how much of a jackass Shawn Michaels is. He remembers Shawn running around WWE like he owned the place, then when things didn’t go his way he spat out his dummy and went away.

Shawn Michaels says that he had to leave because he was injured, but he also admits that he had to go because he was a problem. He speaks earnestly about his personal struggles and how he let himself get out of control. Shawn was an asshole and he made a lot of mistakes, but he is trying to repent for them now. It will take time, but the best thing he can do to make amends with the fans is by coming out and leaving his all in the ring. HBK praises The Rock’s rise, but he counts Rock lucky that he was out of action otherwise things may have went a completely different way.

The Rock calls his rise to the top undeniable, there is no stopping it even if HBK tried to steal his spotlight. The Rock has surpassed Shawn Michaels in every way, but HBK tells him that he will never be a better wrestler than he is, setting up a first time ever encounter.

Settle The Score

The Undertaker and Kurt Angle continue their bitter rivalry, both men blaming each other for their loss at No Way Out, missing an opportunity to become world champion. Kurt Angle doesn’t understand what people like about Undertaker. Sure, he saw the appeal when he was a spooky grim reaper talking about reaping souls and digging holes. But now, that guy isn’t here anymore. Undertaker is just a redneck on a bicycle. Angle asks “what even is a booger red? Does anyone know? Does Jim Ross even know? What is that and why does it sound disgusting?” The Undertaker comes out to beat up Angle, but Kurt escapes.

The Undertaker says that he might not be shrouded in darkness anymore, but he is still that dangerous reaper that will take Kurt on a Last Ride straight to hell. They will meet once again at Wrestlemania, this time it will be a Street Fight.

Retirement

Triple H comes out and complains about unfair management, even criticising his own wife Stephanie McMahon in the process. He says that months ago he defeated Booker T and Steve Austin in a triple threat which should have set him up for a world title shot and he never got it. Steve Austin got a shot and now Booker T has a shot. How unfair. HHH puts himself over as the very best in the company, he is The Game for a reason. He doesn’t care about Brock Lesnar or Booker T, they don’t deserve the spot. That is Triple H’s spot.

Diamond Dallas Page interrupts Triple H and he is baffled about all of the bitching and moaning he is doing. Triple H doesn’t see how privileged he is. For a few years now he has been a prominent feature in the company and received far more opportunities than he deserves thanks to shacking up with the boss’ daughter. DDP commends Stephanie for choosing not to play favourites anymore and allow other people a chance. However, he admits that he is jealous.

He is jealous of all the opportunities Triple H was handed whilst he had to fight for what got. DDP had to go against his morals, aligning with Team Hollywood as an insurance policy because who knows when he was going to get another shot at gold. He doesn’t regret his decision, now he has a permanent place in WWE history books but he still wants that world title match. Triple H tells DDP that there is no way he will get one, he doesn’t deserve a Hardcore title match nevermind anything else. DDP drops HHH with a Diamond Cutter and takes his leave.

The next week, DDP interrupts a promo from Paul Heyman & Rhyno. He knows that they have a lot on their plate as it is so he is going to keep things simple. He needs one final opportunity to be a world champion and he is willing to risk it all. DDP wagers his career, if he loses he is done and he will retire. Heyman and Rhyno discuss, then accept, not willing to pass up the opportunity to gloat about retiring a legend. So Rhyno defends the WWE title against DDP on Smackdown, but it is cut short by a run-in from Triple H taking out DDP with a sledgehammer. DDP wins via DQ so he is not retired, but Triple H cost him his final opportunity at a world title.

Triple H is furious that DDP could get a title match before him, that is absolute bullshit. Triple H tells DDP that if he wants to get some payback he can do it at Wrestlemania, but only if he wagers his career again. HHH wants to be the one who can say he retired the overrated DDP. DDP accepts but he wants something on the line for HHH too. If DDP wins, Triple H cannot challenge for any championship for a full year. He can sit around in catering or feud with whoever, but he can never compete for gold.

Superhero Sidekick

The Hurricane feels a little hard done after Mark Henry left him to fend for himself. He gets himself a measure of revenge, interfering in Henry’s Hardcore championship match against Big Show. Show appears surprised by this and he shows Hurricane his appreciation. Hurricane says that wasn’t very super behaviour by Mark, or by the tag champions for taking advantage of the situation at No Way Out. Kevin Nash & X-Pac mock Hurricane. Pac says the idea of being double champ sounds nice though. He is going to beat Hurricane for the cruiserweight title, then he & Nash will win the tag titles. Edge & Goldust don’t see that happening and think that they should prove they deserve an opportunity. Pac says he will be winning the cruiserweight title, whilst Nash challenges Goldust to a match.

Although Nash defeats Goldust, X-Pac fails to win the cruiserweight championship thanks to…the Big Show? Show helps Hurricane retain and raises his hand. The next week, The Hurricane pesters Vince McMahon and the tag champions for a rematch but they ask him about his tag partner. In steps the Big Show, wearing a superhero costume. Edge laughs and asks Big Show what on earth he is wearing. “I am not Big Show. I am…Super Show.” Hurricane finds himself a new ally in Big Show and campaigns for a title shot. However, in come Nash & Pac wanting the same thing, not too happy with Show’s interference last week. Vince McMahon gives them both an opportunity. At Wrestlemania, Nash & X-Pac will face Hurricane & Super Show in an eliminator match. The winner will get a tag title match later in the show.

Women’s Title

Ivory won the contender match to set up a match with Jazz at Wrestlemania over the women’s title. Although both heels, Ivory sets herself as the more sympathetic character going into the match. She feels that herself and other women have been overlooked because they are not willing to bear it all. Jazz manages to stand out as a dominant weapon, but she is only serving herself. Ivory is trying to serve the rest of the women, to prove that you don’t need to flaunt your assets to be an asset. Jazz backs up what Ivory said about her. She doesn’t care about other women and their struggles. All she cares about is keeping this championship firmly in her grasp.

Uncrowned?

Christian celebrates his victory and he sends out a special thanks to the doctors who looked after him, allowing him to make such a miraculous recovery unseen before. Now he can attend Wrestlemania fully fit as the reigning US champion. Jeff Hardy is not too pleased but he offers congratulations. Not to Christian though, to Chris Jericho. Hardy says it was not Christian who won the match at No Way Out, Chris Jericho did. Therefore, he is the champion right? Christian of course refutes this but Chris Jericho does say that “Jeff Harvey” raises a good point. What if Jericho is the reigning champion? It doesn’t matter either way because what matters is the championship is with the Un-Americans.

Christian rejects the idea, so Jeff Hardy asks him to prove he is a champion by putting his title on the line at Wrestlemania. Christian does not answer the challenge. Backstage though, Chris Jericho convinces Christian to go along with this notion. If Hardy is trying to suggest Jericho is the US champion, then that means he should be involved in the US title match too. That makes it a triple threat, featuring 2 members of the Un-Americans, significantly increasing their odds of a victory. Christian is unsure, but Jericho says that this is better than facing Hardy alone and ultimately, Christian agrees.

The Un-Americans come out and support Hardy’s theory and how Chris Jericho should be involved in this match also. Jeff Hardy isn’t too stressed about this, he suggests that the ego’s of Christian and Chris Jericho are too great to remain on the same page in this Wrestlemania title match.

Horsemen

Ric Flair has been mentoring Randy Orton for several months. He has tried to coach Orton towards championships but he has been unsuccessful. Orton is clearly not ready, but that is okay. “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Flair says maybe it is time that he leads by example and shows Randy what it takes to be the man.

Flair & Orton resume their feud with Chris Benoit that took place a few months prior as Flair has his sights set on the IC championship. Flair doubles down on his claim that Benoit was never worthy of being a Horseman. He accuses Benoit of riding his coattails to try and reach the top of the mountain. “I’ve said it once and I’ve said it a million times. You cannot just take a ride to the top. To be the man, you gotta beat the man and Chris, you ain’t beat me. You might have a victory over me, but you ain’t beat me and you never will!” This alludes to the one singles match Benoit and Flair had in WCW, Benoit defeated Flair but it was via DQ.

Chris Benoit falls victim to a 2 on 1 assault but his friend Eddie Guerrero makes the save. Eddie will be out there in Benoit’s corner to ensure it is a fair fight.

No Story Needed

Eddie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam are both without an opponent for Wrestlemania. Two great talents and they both think they could have a great match so they ask for a match against each other at Wrestlemania. Some matches just require two really really good wrestlers that the fans like, going at it.

Wrestlemania XIX

Wrestlemania opens with a stunning rendition of “America the Beautiful” by the Grammy nominated Ashanti. After a brief video package hyping up the event, we get an extravagant display of pyro before we are welcomed to Wrestlemania by the Smackdown announce team, Michael Cole and Tazz. They hype the card some more before sending us down to Tony Chimel for ring introductions.

Rob Van Dam vs Eddie Guerrero

I cannot think of a much better way to start Wrestlemania than 2 of the most exciting fan favourites in the WWE. The two men lock up and begin to run the ropes, exchanging counters and reversals until they reach a stalemate. They run the spot again, Guerrero thinks he has gotten the best of RVD with a German suplex and he taunts to the crowd before he turns around into a spinning kick. RVD starts targeting the mid-section with a series of kicks. It is going to be a battle of the frog splashes here tonight, I expect both men to wear down each other’s torsos.

RVD sets up Eddie on the barricade and he goes for the Van Daminator, but Eddie dodges and Rob lands hard on the edge. Guerrero goes to work on the lower back of RVD now, stretching it out with various holds life a surfboard stretch and of course a Gory Special. Eddie hits the Three Amigo’s and gets a near fall. He knows what he must do. He goes up for the Frog Splash but RVD meets him up there. Both men try for a superplex, but neither man can hit it and they both tumble to the mat. Rob Van Dam now starts to hit a comeback. The monkey flip, Rolling Thunder and his signature style of kicks. RVD gets a near fall from a split-legged moonsault, now he knows what he must do.

RVD goes for the Five Star Frog Splash but Eddie gets the knees up! Guerrero immediately goes up for his own frog splash, but Rob gets his knees up too! Both men are down and struggling for air after attempting their big moves. They both slowly rise to their feet, trading strikes and reversals. Both men trade pin attempts, Eddie tries to lie, cheat and steal his way to victory with a handful of tights in a small package. RVD manages to reverse the weight and he grabs a handful of tights out of spite and he scores a flash pinfall.

Guerrero is unhappy at his loss. RVD offers him a handshake, but Eddie ignores it and walks past him. Rob does not let it effect him too much, he continues to celebrate with the crowd.

Kevin Nash & X-Pac vs Hurricane & Super Show

The winner of this match gets to face Edge & Goldust for the WWE Tag Championships later in the night. X-Pac and the Hurricane start the match off, they tease a lock up but X-Pac gives him an eye poke, setting the scene early that he is willing to use any tactics to score the win here at Wrestlemania. Hurricane fires back with an eye poke of his own, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. He lights up X-Pac with strikes and already goes for his chokeslam but X-Pac escapes. Pac tags out and in comes the incredibly tall Kevin Nash. He towers over the Hurricane and laughs at him. Hurricane shows no fear and he throttles Nash, looking for the chokeslam. With ease, Nash launches Hurricane across the ring and flexes.

Super Show tags himself in and stands face to face with Kevin Nash, now Big Sexy is the smaller man. Nash pokes fun at Big Show’s superhero costume and mocks how he looks, but he gets a headbutt for his troubles. Super Show dominates Kevin Nash, lifting and slamming the big man with ease. X-Pac tries to do a springboard but he gets chopped out of the air by the big man. Show & Hurricane do some tandem offence together, usually it is Big Show throwing and slamming Hurricane into or onto Nash. Hurricane goes up for a top rope splash, but Nash meets him up there and elbows him to the outside.

Kevin Nash and X-Pac get heat on Hurricane, but the caped crusader shows resilience. They beat on him for quite some time, until Hurricane is able to slip out of the Jackknife Powerbomb and get a tag to his partner. Super Show comes in and he runs wild. He has clotheslines, shoulder blocks and punches for Nash and X-Pac. Big Show hits Kevin Nash with his Showstopper but X-Pac breaks up the pin. Show stalks X-Pac for revenge, but this allows Kevin Nash time to recover and take out Super Show. Nash wears down Big Show and keeps trying the powerbomb but he cannot lift him up.

X-Pac tags in and goes for the X-Factor but Big Show is far too powerful and he gets countered. Hurricane runs around the ring and sacrifices himself, distracting Nash and getting powerbombed on the outside. Whilst Kevin Nash is doing this, Big Show drops X-Pac with a showstopper and gets the win for his team.

The Superheroes win in 8:22

Christian © vs Jeff Hardy vs Chris Jericho, UNited States Championship

Jeff Hardy immediately acknowledges that this is a handicap match and he takes the fight to both Christian and Jericho. They throw Hardy out of the ring. Jericho lies down on the mat and Christian pins him trying, to get a quick and easy victory but Jeff comes back in and breaks up the pin. Commentary put over how all the Un-Americans need to do is neutralise Hardy and then they will have won this match. Jeff Hardy will not be beaten so easily though, he uses his body as a weapon and manages to take both of his opponents out of the ring. Hardy makes use of the triple threat stipulation and grabs a chair, throwing it off Christian’s head. He drops Christian with a twist of fate on the outside, leaving it down go him and Jericho for the time being.

Jericho and Hardy wrestle back and forth in the ring, Jericho targets Hardy’s lower back setting up for the Liontamer, even exposing a turnbuckle to try to use to his advantage. He acknowledges that Christian is down on the outside so he tries to win the match himself. Hardy eventually drops him with a twist of fate, he goes for the swanton bomb but Jericho rolls out of the way. Jericho follows up with the Lionsault and pins Hardy, but Christian drags him out of the ring. Christian and Jericho bicker on the outside briefly. Christian accuses him of trying to steal his title whilst Jericho says he is just trying to make sure the title stays with them. Hardy dives onto them both from the top.

Jeff Hardy fights with Christian in the ring now. Christian manages to hit his Unprettier but Hardy gets a foot on the rope. Christian goes for another Unprettier, Hardy pushes him off and face first into the exposed turnbuckle and rolls him up for a near fall. Hardy hits the Swanton Bomb, but before he can go for the pin Chris Jericho rushes the ring and traps Hardy in a roll up with a foot on the rope. Jericho pins him and wins the US title.

Chris Jericho celebrates and tells Christian that he stopped Hardy from taking the title. Christian does not look happy about the result.

Diamond Dallas Page vs Triple H

Before this match, we get a video package highlighting the career of DDP. From his early years in WCW, to becoming the WCW world champion. He is put over as a legend who proved that age doesn’t define you, debuting at 33 years old. This is his retirement as a full time wrestler. As the bell rings, Triple H gets in DDP’s face and throws a crotch chop taunt at him.

This a slow burner to start off with. They lock up and trade holds, both men fighting for position over the other. DDP starts firing off some clotheslines, building momentum but he runs into the leaping knee of Triple H. HHH begins trying to dissect DDP slowly, but the WCW veteran keeps finding windows to fight back and excite the crowd. DDP sets up for the Diamond Cutter, but Triple H pushes him out of the ring. They fight out on the floor, Triple H sends DDP into the ring post head first and busts him open.

HHH really starts laying in the punishment now, a sore and bloody DDP is fighting for survival but he kicks out of it all. Triple H sets up for his patented pedigree, but DDP lifts him up and hits an Alabama Slam out of no where. After finally creating some space, Page recharges a little and begins to fight back. DDP starts making his comeback and he manages to nail Triple H with the Diamond Cutter, but he kicks out. DDP goes for a second one, but Triple H counters and hits a Diamond Cutter of his own! Triple H follows it up with a pedigree immediately after for the 1-2…kick out! DDP survives.

Both men leather each other with punches, a blood stained DDP demands Triple H gives him all he has. Triple H hits a spinebuster and pins him, but DDP gets a foot on the rope. Triple H pulls DDP onto his feet for a second pedigree and Diamond Dallas Page manages to kick out again! Triple H is in shock, furiously kicking the bottom rope at this. DDP slowly makes it up to his feet, completely spent and aware that his time is coming to an end. DDP beckons Triple H to finish him off. HHH, with rage in his eyes, hits a third and final pedigree to officially put Page down for the 3.

Triple H soaks in his victory for a few seconds before taking his leave, allowing Diamond Dallas Page to have the ring to himself. DDP slowly stands up and soaks in the adulation of the crowd chanting his name. He emotionally says goodbye, not forever, but at least for now.

Chris Benoit © vs Ric Flair, Intercontinental Championship

As the bell rings, Randy Orton immediately hops onto the apron to shout at Benoit. Benoit punches him off, but Ric Flair attacks from behind. Flair takes early control and immediately goes to work on the legs of Chris Benoit. Flair stomps, kicks and knees away at the legs, then applies a series of holds to wear down the joints and the tendons. Benoit manages to rise to his feet and push Flair off of him. He builds momentum, he throws Flair into the corner, he flips over and runs on the turnbuckle in classic Flair fashion, Benoit press slams him off the top.

Benoit goes up for the diving headbutt, but Randy Orton gets onto the apron and talks shit again. Benoit kicks him down, Ric Flair manages to get up and fall into the ropes, dropping Benoit crotch first onto the top. Flair hits a superplex for a near fall. Ric Flair goes for the Figure Four, but Benoit turns it into a small package for a near fall. Flair counters a German Suplex, dropping to the floor and using a drop toe hold to bring Benoit down too. Flair then manages to apply the figure four, wrenching at the legs he has spent the match damaging. Chris struggles but he manages to make it to the ropes.

Flair keeps kick at Benoit’s leg, but the champ manages to get up and he starts lighting Flair up with some chops. They get into a chop-off, Benoit comes out on top but he struggles to stand on his weakened legs. Benoit hits a series of German suplexes, he hits the diving headbutt but he cannot capitalise thanks to his injuries. He applies the Crossface, but Randy Orton pulls Flair out of the ring. Orton and the referee argue, Benoit comes out of no where and wipes Randy out with a mean lariat. Benoit brings Flair back in the ring for the Crossface, Flair surprises him with a roll up for a close near fall. Benoit manages to lock in the Crossface again, forcing Flair to tap out.

The Undertaker vs Kurt Angle, Street Fight

The Undertaker comes out first, entering whilst his favourite band Limp Bizkit plays his entrance song. Mid-song, Kurt Angle attacks Undertaker from behind! Angle grabs Taker’s motorbike and wheels it off the side of the ramp, crashing to the entrance floor and breaking it. Fred Durst is stood there pissed off that he was cut off, but Angle shoves him to the ground. Angle turns away to focus on Undertaker, Fred Durst grabs one of the guitars and whacks Angle in the back with it. Undertaker recovers and asks for them to continue their song. So, Limp Bizkit continue to perform Rollin’ live, whilst Undertaker kicks Kurt Angle’s ass from the ramp down to ringside and through the crowd. Kinda like how New Jack would kick people’s ass in ECW whilst his music still played, that shit is awesome.

Undertaker stands and poses as Limp Bizkit finish their song. Taker carries Angle into the ring and the match officially begins. Taker unloads punches on Angle in the corner, trash talking him, saying that he made a grave mistake pissing him off. Undertaker hits a running lariat, sending Angle back to the outside. Taker teases chokeslamming him through the announce table, but Angle counters and hits a German Suplex on the floor. Kurt Angle sets up a table. On the ring apron, Angle tries to German suplex Taker off and through the announce table, but it is blocked.

Taker grabs a steel chair and swings but misses. Kurt Angle low blows him and then brains him with the steel chair. Undertaker stumbles and leans against the set up table. Angle hops on the apron and hits a running crossbody, taking Taker out through the table. Back in the ring, Angle continues to try and put away Undertaker away with suplexes. He grabs a chair and starts whacking it across his ankle, before locking in his ankle lock submission. Undertaker is hurt but he manages to power up and out of the hold, hitting a chokeslam to get some space.

Undertaker starts fight back, he goes for the Last Ride powerbomb but his leg gives out. Angle hits the Olympic Slam for a near fall. Angle goes back to the Ankle lock but Taker refuses to submit. Kurt releases the hold and pulls out a chain from under the ring. He tries to wrap it out Taker’s leg, but he fights out and kicks Kurt away. Undertaker drops him with a big right hand and grabs the chain for himself. He wraps his fist in the chain and hits him with a combo of punches to the head, busting Kurt open the hard way.

The Undertaker finally manages to hit the Last Ride and he pins Kurt for the win.

Shawn Michaels vs The Rock

The first of our two blockbuster dream matches tonight, this could main event a Wrestlemania on its own merit. They lock up, Shawn Michaels is able to outmanoeuvre and out wrestle Rocky early on with relative ease, showing his superior wrestling ability. However, when running the ropes he runs right into a spinebuster from The Rock. He teases the People’s Elbow already but HBK rolls out of the ring and regroups. They lock up again, this time Rocky is able to hold his own and goes for a Rock Bottom, Michaels counters and fires off Sweet Chin Music but Rock just manages to dodge.

They go to lock up, but Rock throws out an eye poke and stomps Michaels out in the corner. The Rock starts trash talking, allowing Michaels to run at him with a leaping forearm. That is the theme of the match. Shawn Michaels is the better wrestling, Rocky finds cheap ways to take back control but his ego and cocky nature provide HBK with windows to fight back. This is most effective towards the end, The Rock hits the spinebuster and he has the People’s Elbow set up. He spends far too much time taunting and trash talking before running the ropes, as he rebounds he gets nailed with a Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere! Michaels desperately crawls to him for the pin but Rock falls out of the ring.

Shawn goes to the outside and tries to pick Rock up, he eventually does but the Rock hits a Rock Bottom out of nowhere. Both men are gassed and down on the outside, the referee begins the count and he reaches nine before both men make it back into the ring. The Rock continues to run his mouth, firing up HBK to unload on him. Michaels hits the diving elbow drop for a near fall so he sets up for the finish. However, the riled up Michaels now is the one who starts talking trash to the Rock, he let him get in his head and now he is running his mouth. He sets up for the Sweet Chin Music, Rock dodges and nails him with a second Rock Bottom for the 1-2-3. The Rock scores a huge win. The Rock boasts his victory whilst Michaels appears disappointed and frustrated.

Earlier in the show as well as during several interviews over Wrestlemania weekend, Ivory speaks very confidently that she is going to walk out as the new women’s champion. She doesn’t see losing as a possibility, but when asked about what happens if she does lose, she doesn’t know how she would go forward.

Ivory goes for a lock up but Jazz immediately picks her up and throws her across the ring. Although Ivory is the more experienced wrestler, Jazz ends up overpowering her and outwrestling at every corner. So Ivory comes up with a game plan. She rolls out and grabs the women’s championship, holding it up and posing to the crowd with it. This baits Jazz to roll out and chase her, Ivory rolls into the ring and beats Jazz down as she re-enters. Ivory keeps Jazz grounded and wears her out with submissions, trying to remove the power game. Jazz kicks out of every pin and is able to eventually power out of these holds, but Ivory kicks her back to the ground.

Getting desperate at what to do, Ivory makes a rare climb up the top rope and lands a splash. The pin gets a 2 count as Jazz rolls over and deadlifts Ivory up for an impressive suplex. Jazz begins to fight back, chaining scoop slams and fallaway slams with relative ease. She drops Ivory with a powerbomb and stacks her with a pin for a near fall. She goes for her DDT finish, Ivory counters and tries to steal the DDT herself, but Jazz counters that, hitting her DDT finish and winning the match.

Jazz retains and Ivory is in shock in the ring. She starts pacing back and forth, unwilling to accept her loss. She holds back her tears before grabbing a microphone and quietly saying “I quit”. Ivory leaves as commentary questions if she really means she is quitting the WWE.

The Hurricane and Super Show come out and they seem well enough rested for this match, not showing any signs of fatigue from wrestling earlier in the show. Earlier, Goldust tried to gift Edge matching wrestling gear and robe but he politely declined. Instead, Goldust decides to match with Edge. He dons the blonde wig and he finds a matching long blue jacket. Edge is a bit weirded out but he accepts that about him.

Hurricane and Edge start the match, Hurricane starts of hot with some strikes and headscissors, but Edge back drops him over the top and he lands hard. Edge and Goldust control the match for a while, weakening Hurricane with double suplexes, double flapjacks and other tandem offence. Hurricane is desperate for a tag. Goldust looks to destroy Hurricane with Shattered Dreams, Edge distracts the referee, so Super Show cleverly grabs a tag title belt and drapes across Hurricane’s crotch, protecting him and injuring Goldust.

Big Show gets the hot tag and he starts pummelling Goldust. He stomps on his injured foot and drops him with a headbutt. Edge tries to come help but Show launches him through the ropes and out of the ring. Show continues to throw Goldust around with ease, hitting a huge chokeslam but Edge breaks up the pin. Edge tries to chop down Big Show on his own and manages to drop him to a knee. He asks Goldust for his help, but Goldust struggles to stand on a presumed broken foot. Edge helps him to the corner and tags in, allowing Goldust some time to recover.

Edge runs at Show but he gets dropped with a huge press slam. Super Show sizes him up for another chokeslam, but Hurricane wants in too. Hurricane tags and they hit a double chokeslam on Edge, Hurricane has to leap in the air to match Show’s height. Edge is slammed down, Hurricane pins him to win the match as Goldust cannot make it in the ring to break the pin.

The Superheroes win in 15:48

Steve Austin vs Hulk Hogan

“Let’s go Hogan, let’s go Austin! Austin, Austin, Austin! Hogan, Hogan, Hogan!” The crowd are electric as both men stand face to face, basking in the atmosphere. Hogan goes to throw the first punch, Austin ducks and he hits the Stunner! 1…2…kick out from Hogan. He is hulking up already! He shakes violently, no selling punches thrown by Austin. “Youuuuu!” Hogan points the finger and throws punches of his own. Hogan throws the big boot, he runs for his signature leg drop but Austin rolls out of the ring.

Hulk Hogan follows him out and they brawl around ringside. The referee counts to 5, Hulk Hogan grabs the microphone and says “referee brother, if you count another number I will come back in and kick your ass, dude!” Austin drops Hogan from behind with a lariat, so the referee counts 6. Now Austin grabs the microphone and says “ref, an ass whipping from Hulk Hogan is not even half of what I will do to you if you continue counting.” So the referee says screw it and let’s them fight. Hogan and Austin don’t use any weapons but they beat each other’s ass around ringside. He scoop slams Austin on the announce table, it doesn’t break.

Hogan rolls Austin back inside, but the rattlesnake surprises him with a Lou Thesz press. Austin sets up a second stunner, Hogan counters and throws him into the ropes, dropping him with a big boot on the rebound. Hogan goes for the leg drop, but Austin rolls out of the way. Austin hits a second stunner, but Hogan kicks out again! Austin is losing his mind, how can he put down this foe. Steve Austin lifts Hogan up and hits a Rock Bottom. Austin teases going for his own version of the People’s Elbow, how The Rock defeated Hogan at Wrestlemania X8, but Hogan meets him with another big boot. Hogan finally connects with the leg drop, but Austin kicks out.

Hulk Hogan applies the Sharpshooter on Austin, the way that Bret Hart defeated him at Wrestlemania 13. Austin struggles to escape but he manages to reach the ropes. Hogan waits for Austin to stand up, gives him the double middle finger salute, and goes for the stunner. Austin counters, hits a third and final stunner, pinning Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania.

After the match, Hogan appears humble and offers Austin a handshake. They shake hands and Austin grabs them a pair of beers to toast in the ring. They cheers, Austin hits him with one more stunner and celebrates his win.

Steve Austin wins in 3:40

Main event time. Commentary put over that this is the first time since Wrestlemania XI that all main event competitors are closing Wrestlemania for the first time. It really feels like a transition into a new era. Paul Heyman is at ringside accompanying Rhyno but he always moves around to the opposite side of the ring to his former client, Brock Lesnar.

Rhyno and Brock Lesnar stand face to face, two raging bulls ready to collide. Booker T pushes them apart and refuses to be the third wheel in this match. Lesnar tries to F-5 him, Booker escapes and pushes him into a Gore from Rhyno. Lesnar rolls out to recover. Booker T starts trying to wear down Rhyno, but the Man-Beast rises up from each strike with relative ease. It isn’t long before Rhyno is throwing him around with various suplexes. Rhyno looks to nail Booker T with a Gore, but Lesnar intercepts and takes Rhyno out with an F-5. Rhyno now rolls out as Booker T once again has to face a physical imposing opponent on his own.

Booker T remains on the backfoot, being suplexed around by Lesnar this time. He shows his resilience though, being able to kick out of every pin attempt. Lesnar goes for the F-5, Booker escapes and pushes him out of the ring. Lesnar realises that he is out there near Heyman and begins to stalk him, but Rhyno hits him with another Gore, but through the barricade! He turns around into a chair shot to the head from Booker T. Booker has the chance to start wearing down Rhyno now and he mounts a comeback. He pulls out a Wrestlemania Spinarooni and goes for the Scissors Kick. Rhyno catches him with a powerbomb. Booker T leap frogs over a Gore and hits his leaping side kick.

Booker hits the scissor kick and pins Rhyno, but Brock Lesnar drags him out and hits an F-5 through the Spanish announce table! Brock Lesnar gets into the ring as Rhyno slowly comes to his senses. Now we get the meaty match between Rhyno and Lesnar. They go strike for strike, slam for slam, suplex for suplex but neither man can keep the other down. Lesnar counters Rhyno into an F-5 and he has him beat, but Heyman pulls at Lesnar’s leg. Brock leaves to chase Heyman but runs into a chair shot and a side kick from Booker T.

Booker T goes into the ring with the chair but runs into a Gore from Rhyno. Rhyno pins him but he gets a foot on the rope! Brock Lesnar rises to his feet and he sees Rhyno preparing to Gore Booker T again, but he also sees Paul Heyman in front of him, not realising that Brock is back on his feet. Lesnar chooses to get some revenge and he attacks Paul Heyman. He F-5’s Heyman through the remaining announce table. Meanwhile, Booker T counters the Gore and hits a Scissor kick to Rhyno onto a chair and pins him to win.

Wrestlemania ends with an extravagant display of pyro as Booker T celebrates his first WWE world championship.
