Biography
Jack Perry has lived several wrestling lives before turning 30. The Los Angeles native was one of AEW's original homegrown stars as the long-haired, leopard-print Jungle Boy, became one of the company's most notorious villains as 'The Scapegoat', and in autumn 2026 is back in the fans' corner as 'Jungle' Jack Perry, a former tag, TNT and National Champion now setting his sights on the AEW World Championship.
The son of the late actor Luke Perry grew up a wrestling fan and started out on the California independents in 2015 as Nate Coy. Crowds at Underground Empire Wrestling began chanting 'Jungle Boy' at him, and the name stuck. He won the West Coast Cruiser Cup in 2016 and teamed with Luchasaurus as 'A Boy and His Dinosaur' before AEW signed him in early 2019. Together with Marko Stunt they became Jurassic Express, and Perry won the Wrestling Observer's Rookie of the Year award in 2019.
He earned the crowd's trust slowly. He survived ten minutes with world champion Chris Jericho in late 2019, won the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing 2021 and pushed Kenny Omega in a world title match. With Christian Cage as mentor, he and Luchasaurus were part of the five-star falls count anywhere win over Adam Cole and The Young Bucks at Full Gear 2021, then beat the Lucha Brothers for the AEW World Tag Team Championship in January 2022. They lost the belts to the Bucks in a ladder match that June, and Cage promptly betrayed him, with Luchasaurus following. Perry beat his former partner in a steel cage at Full Gear 2022 and settled the score with Cage in a Final Burial match at Revolution 2023.
In June 2023 he snapped, attacking Hook at Forbidden Door, ditching the Jungle Boy gimmick and taking the FTW Championship. A real backstage altercation with CM Punk at All In 2023 led to Perry's indefinite suspension. He resurfaced in NJPW in early 2024, tearing up his AEW contract and joining House of Torture, before returning at Dynasty that April to help The Young Bucks and become part of The Elite. He pinned Bryan Danielson in Anarchy in the Arena, won the TNT Championship in a ladder match at Forbidden Door and held it for 146 days, defending it against Darby Allin in a coffin match at All In.
After ten months away, Perry returned at All Out in September 2025, turned on the Bucks and reunited with Luchasaurus, winning their WrestleDream grudge match before the two sides made peace. With Luchasaurus injured, Perry went solo in 2026, winning the AEW National Championship in a Blackjack Battle Royal at Revolution and holding it for 55 days. He quietly rejoined The Elite, featured in a five-star 'Mile High Madness' tag in February, and in September declared he was coming for the world title. That led him to Samoa Joe, who attacked him after Perry beat Katsuyori Shibata at All Out and then beat Perry at Grand Slam France in October.
