Following the shocking events of Backlash, Monday Night Raw kicks off in chaos as the WCW/ECW invasion picks up steam and rivalries escalate across both brands.

Monday Night Raw: The Alliance Celebrates and the WWF Responds

The show opens with the invading WCW/ECW faction in the ring, led by Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman. They’re flanked by Shane and Stephanie McMahon, as well as Triple H. The crowd is incensed as they announce the new WWF Champion: Kurt Angle.

Bischoff calls Angle “The People’s True Champion” and a “Real American Badass,” taking direct shots at The Rock and The Undertaker. Angle declares that the WWF should surrender and join their new regime.

They’re interrupted by Booker T and DDP, who aren’t falling for Bischoff’s agenda. Booker reminds everyone that he’s still the WCW World Champion, mocking the group for forgetting. Triple H takes offense and challenges Booker for his title at Judgement Day.

Things escalate quickly when Stone Cold Steve Austin arrives. Austin insults the entire Alliance, calling them “trash,” and says he’s targeting Goldberg and Hulk Hogan next. The Rock also appears, calling his shot at Angle’s title. Then Chris Jericho joins in, mocking Jeff Jarrett as a “daddy’s boy,” nearly causing a full-on brawl.

Before tensions explode, Kane’s music hits. He storms the ring and throws a chair straight at Scott Steiner’s head. The two monsters brawl, forcing both rosters to pull them apart.

Matches Set, Alliances Fracture

Shane McMahon announces a main event handicap match: The Rock & DDP vs Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & X-Pac. If Rock’s team wins, he becomes the #1 contender for the WWF Title.

Later, Goldberg hits the ring and issues an open challenge. Test answers and puts up a fight, but ultimately falls to the Spear and Jackhammer.

The Godfather defeats his former Right to Censor ally Steven Richards, now a reborn “pimp.” After the match, Raven, Crowbar, and Vampiro ambush Godfather. Raven hands Richards a kendo stick, and Stevie snaps—ripping off his tie and shirt to reveal an ECW tee. Stevie Richards is extreme once more.

Backstage, the ECW crew celebrates Stevie’s return. Meanwhile, Molly Holly urges Spike Dudley to reconsider his loyalty to Paul Heyman and reminds him what DDP and Booker said about not selling out.

Mid-Show Mayhem and Main Event Drama

In a comedic match, Disco Inferno & Norman Smiley face Too Cool, turning their bout into a wild dance-off.

To keep Steiner and Kane apart, Bischoff forces them to sign contracts banning contact until Judgement Day, calling them “nuclear bombs.”

Jeff Hardy avenges Backlash by defeating Rey Mysterio. But after the match, Juventud Guerrera and Konnan attack Team Xtreme.

In the main event, the scheduled 2-on-3 match becomes a regular tag bout after Steve Austin takes out Scott Hall backstage. The Rock and DDP manage to beat Nash and X-Pac, earning Rock his title shot. Goldberg rushes the ring to attack, but Austin, Booker, and Undertaker make the save.

SmackDown: Light Heavyweight Action and Old Rivalries

SmackDown begins with Jerry Lynn defeating Dean Malenko to win the Light Heavyweight Championship. A revamped division is teased, featuring names like Tajiri, Kid Kash, Super Crazy, and more.

Chris Jericho battles former partner Lance Storm, ending with Jericho smashing a guitar over his head after mocking Jeff Jarrett’s country gimmick.

Scott Steiner crushes Perry Saturn, destroys Moppy, and leaves with Terri Runnels—a new “Freak” for Big Poppa Pump.

Edge & Christian face the Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match. Rhyno Gores Christian, leading to a 3-D on Edge for the win. Backstage, Edge berates Christian, showing signs of a brewing split.

From under the ring, Spike Dudley attacks Rhyno with a table shard and pins him for the Hardcore Title. He cuts a fiery promo, turning on Heyman and his former allies.

Further Fallout: Backstage Drama and Hardcore Chaos

Backstage, Buff Bagwell flirts with Chyna, prompting a beatdown that leads to an impromptu match. Mike Awesome interferes with Judge Jeff Jones, costing Chyna the win. Awesome targets Eddie Guerrero’s European Title.

Booker T beats X-Pac in the main event but is attacked by Triple H post-match, who promises to take the WCW title.

Rhyno reclaims the ECW World Title and is immediately attacked by a returning Rob Van Dam, setting off a series of one-on-one challenges against ECW talent. RVD beats Mikey Whipwreck, Stevie Richards, Tajiri, and The Sandman.

Elsewhere, Goldberg squashes Bull Buchanan, and Stone Cold counters with a surprise Stunner—only to be Speared through the barricade.

The Raw main event sees Hogan, Nash, and Angle face Austin, Undertaker, and Rock. Hogan refuses to tag in against Austin, frustrating Stone Cold and giving Nash the win.

SmackDown: Kidnapping, Hardcore Threats, and Rising Tensions

SmackDown opens with a horrifying reveal: Molly Holly is tied to a chair on the TitanTron, kidnapped by New Jack. He demands that Spike lay down for him at Judgement Day or Molly gets hurt.

Spike reluctantly agrees. However, Hardcore and Crash Holly fight back, pledging to help rescue Molly.

Goldberg squashes Steve Blackman, but Austin retaliates with beer spray and a Stunner—only to get Speared again. Undertaker defeats Nash, but is attacked by Kurt Angle post-match. The Rock makes the save and lands a People’s Elbow on Angle.

Just as Kurt Angle and Eric Bischoff celebrate, the lights go out. Scorpion logos appear on the screen. “Seek and Destroy” by Metallica blasts through the arena. STING is here.

Spotlights flash. The crowd erupts. Sting hits Bischoff with a Scorpion Death Drop and points his bat at a terrified Kurt Angle. The screen fades to black as Raw goes off the air.
