This year’s WWE Survivor Series Wargames 2025 took place on Saturday 29th November at Petco Park in San Diego – the first time the event was held outdoors in a major-league baseball stadium. But was the event worthy of such a venue? Let’s dive in!
Key moments:
- The women’s War Games match ended when AJ Lee locked in the Black Widow on Becky Lynch
- ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio regained the Intercontinental Title from John Cena with the help of a returning Liv Morgan
- Stephanie Vaquer successfully retained the Women’s World Title with a victory over heel Nikki Bella
- The men’s War Games match was won by Breakker pinning Punk after help from a masked man
The Good
The reaction to the event has been a little mixed, however there has been praise for the women’s War Games match, with some describing it as energetic and entertaining.
Hosting the event at Petco Park was visually stunning, and stadiums always give an event that extra ‘big event’ vibe.
The surprise return was also another positive. Liv Morgan is always a big miss, so her return is very much welcome.
Also, Cena putting over Dom in his last PLE appearance was a nice touch from the vet.
The Bad
Let’s just say it. The finish to the War Games match was underwhelming. I like how they are making us wonder why the person was using Rollins’ moves, but with no big reveal it leaves the audience feeling a little flat. With so many megastars in this match, I think the general consensus is, they could have done so much better. How often do you get Cody, Brock, Roman, Drew, Punk, Breakker and the rest, all in the same ring, at the same time?
What Next?
We have a couple of things going on here. First, we need a big reveal for the masked man. Could it be Theory? That seems to be the popular, erm, theory, at the moment.
Who is going to step up to Vaquer? She seems to be head and shoulders above the field at the moment, and needs a huge challenger next.
The Judgment Day have Morgan back. What will this mean for Roxanne? Will the tension bubble up once more?
Breakker now has a pinfall over the World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. Will this lead to a title shot in the coming months?
