It’s the end of the world as we know it…

1 month away from AEW World’s End… MJF has just prevailed against Jay White to retain the AEW World Championship, the swarm of challengers for MJF’s world title continues to grow. Wardlow, Omega, Strickland, Joe… the list grows. As MJF has now reached 365 days as champion. The heaviness of the crown slowly is beginning to weigh him down. He barely escaped Full Gear with the title, and it’s announced on the Dynamite after Full Gear, that next week… MJF has a “Huge Announcement” for the AEW audience.

MJF announces that he will defend his AEW World Championship at World’s End on December 30th… but on January 1st 2024… his contract with AEW officially comes to an end. Talk about a bombshell! The wrestling world is on the edge of its seat, wondering what this contract expiration means for MJF and the AEW landscape as we roll into the new year, surely he’s going to lose the title… or surely this is all a work? Surely he’s already resigned.. right? …….. right?

The bidding war of 2024 is now officially ON he says. He says he wants to stay in AEW, and be the champion the AEW fans deserve, but he also says he can not stay here, if he is not pursued by management. And as of right now… no contract has officially been offered to him.

As the wrestling universe collectively catches its breath from MJF’s contract bombshell, Tony Khan emerges with another bomb of his own. In a jaw-dropping announcement, he reveals that MJF will defend his championship at World’s End against a star-studded lineup – Samoa Joe, Wardlow, Kenny Omega, Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland. But here’s the twist: it’s not just any match; it’s a 6-man elimination clash housed within a foreboding black cage…

The rules are as wickedly captivating as the cage itself: two men kick off the chaos, and every 5 minutes, a new contender enters the fray. However, no pin falls are valid until the final man steps into the unforgiving structure. Once all six men have entered, it’s an elimination free-for-all! The end of the world begins…. with the last man standing claiming the coveted AEW World Championship.

Adding to the suspense, Tony Khan steps into the spotlight once more, dropping yet another bombshell that sends shockwaves through the wrestling community. Not only does he unveil the unprecedented 6-man elimination clash inside the the End Of The World Eliminator… but he discloses a pivotal detail about MJF’s future.

Khan confirms that a contract has been extended to MJF; however, in a move that heightens the uncertainty, it remains unsigned. During Dynamite now… a countdown remains on the Titantron… ticking down to December 30th. The countdown to the End of the World…

After Khan revealed that MJF did in fact have a contract offered… MJF addresses the AEW audience once more… 2 weeks before World’s End.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Maxwell Jacob Friedman is here, right in front of your little eyes… your favourite dirty scumbag… your AEW World Champion and, let’s face it, the man you just can’t stop talking about. Now, I know there’s been a lot of chatter lately about a little piece of paper that’s been put in front of me – a contract, if you will.

And you people, you just can’t wait to see whether MJF is going to put pen to paper or leave you hanging. Well, here’s the thing, I’m a busy man, I’ve got championships to defend, egos to crush, and, oh yeah, World’s End to prepare for.

The Contract

But fear not, my loyal subjects, because I’ve got some news for you. Right there at the World’s End media scrum, after I successfully defend this beautiful AEW World Championship against the likes of Samoa Joe, Wardlow, Omega, Page, and Strickland, I’ll be sitting down with that contract.

That’s right, folks, the ink is gonna hit the paper, and MJF will officially be locked in as the face of AEW. Why, you ask? Because I do it for you. For each and every one of you who’ve supported me from the beginning, who’ve witnessed the evolution of MJF.

I want to remain the face of this company because I know you can’t get enough of me, and quite frankly, who could blame you? So, get ready, because at World’s End, not only am I going to walk out still your AEW World Champion, but I’m going to solidify my commitment to all of you, the people who recognize greatness when they see it. MJF, signing on the dotted line, securing his legacy as the unrivaled face of All Elite Wrestling. Get used to it, because this is where the era of MJF truly begins.”

The countdown has hit zero… it’s officially time, for the End of the World. The End of the World Eliminator main events the show with the debut of the new sinister stronghold with six soldiers stood inside….

MJF makes his entrance first… his most dramatic entrance yet as champ. He enters the structure first. The first one to enter Armageddon.

The man who will start with him… is the Cowboy himself… “Hangman” Adam Page….

The two men poised to be the face of AEW, enter the Armageddon first. With the title that has defined both of their wrestling careers. They enter battle against each other!

They go at it until the first countdown begins… and ends… enter the cleaner. The three men trade in a terrific triple threat until the Samoan submission machine enters the fray. Then, Wardlow rushes down and faces off with Joe. Finally… Swerve.

The elimination games finally get to begin.

Shockwaves hit as Page eliminates Omega with a buckshot lariat into the cage, followed by another inside the ring!!!

Wardlow enters the fray, showcasing his fucking Wardlowness with a jaw-dropping moonsault from the top of the cage!!! He hoists MJF for a power bomb But the unexpected happens when MJF seizes the opportunity, rolling up Wardlow for a surprise three-count. Chaos ensues as Wardlow retaliates, power bombing MJF into the cage and onto the steel floor twice, before smashing his head into the side of the cage, leaving him a bloody mess in the corner.

As around 10 minutes go by, Swerve & Hangman surprisingly begin to subliminally team up on Samoa Joe… taking it in turns to try and take down the behemoth. As Joe takes them both down, he faces off with a broken MJF and he locks in the Coquina Clutch on him, somehow… the champion counters with a crafty pin attempt, using his momentum cleverly. Joe kicks out at 2 but that’s when Swerve leaps from the top rope, delivering a diving Swerve Stomp to the head of Joe!!! As his head hits the mat… Adam Page flies from the other top rope with a frog splash to Joe, he bounces off and Swerve covers…. securing the elimination!

The final three – Page, Swerve, and MJF – are left battered and bloodied, setting the stage for an intense climax.

Page and Swerve reignite their rivalry, but a low blow from Swerve shifts the tide. Swerve eliminates Page with a brutal stomp against the steel surface, leaving Page once again broken in a lake of crimson… asserting his dominance over his blood feud rival.

Now, it’s down to MJF and Swerve, both giving their all in a gritty showdown. MJF gains momentum with a kangaroo kick, ready to land the finishing blow.

And then, in a split moment……. the lights go out!!!!!!

enveloping the arena in darkness. The crowd is left in suspense, hanging on the edge of their seats, the unknown awaits the arena as it is plunged into pitch black.

The lights come back on…

AND THE DEVIL IS STANDING BEHIND MJF!!!!!

A CHAIR IN HAND!!!!

THE DEVIL CRACKS MJF OVER THE HEAD WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!!!!

The devil stands watching over the now lifeless body of MJF as the eyes of Strickland almost burst out of their sockets… he pauses for a moment… not taking his eyes off the devil as he hooks the leg of MJF and the referee makes the count!

SWERVE STRICKLAND IS THE AEW WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!

Swerve Strickland def. MJF, “Hangman” Adam Page, Samoa Joe, Wardlow & Kenny Omega in the End of the World Eliminator to win the AEW World Championship – 41:14

Swerve is handed the AEW World Championship and he rolls out of the ring and the structure… becoming the first man to survive the End of the World! He raises the title up in the air on the ramp as The Devil remains in the ring… standing over the body of MJF!

The structure rises up above the ring as the devil remains standing over MJF… the show not ending…. The crowd all on their feet waiting for something else to happen.

The Devil kneels down infront of the face of MJF, and pulls out what looks to be a contract folder from behind him.

It can be only one contract right…?

The devil stands up… and rips up the contract before dropping the broken pieces of paper over the body of MJF as the show ends….

January 1st comes around… and AEW’s social media make an official announcement, that MJF is no longer a member of the AEW roster, and they wish him well on his next venture after he failed to sign his new contract before the deadline.

He’s removed from the roster page, the ROH Tag Team Championships are officially vacated…. and Maxwell Jacob Friedman isn’t spoken about on the following episodes of AEW…
