Opening Segment – Rhea Ripley Welcomes Friday Night Mami
WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley opened the show and accepted Jade Cargill’s challenge for a title rematch at Clash in Italy on May 31. Ripley and Charlotte Flair argued ahead of the Six-Woman Tag Team Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, before Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley) confronted Ripley, Flair and Alexa Bliss, sparking an impromptu tag match later in the night.
Backstage, General Manager Nick Aldis was dealing with flickering lights when Cody Rhodes arrived to note that Gunther still hadn’t signed for Clash in Italy. Aldis promised to handle Gunther and asked Cody to let him take the lead.
Match 1 – Talla Tonga def. Shinsuke Nakamura (9:21 / 9:25)
Talla Tonga pinned Nakamura after a chokeslam, with Solo Sikoa providing the apron distraction that allowed Talla to capitalise. After the bell, Sikoa wanted to land a Spike but Tama Tonga grabbed his hand and levelled Nakamura with a Hidden Blade instead, confirming Tama is fully in the MFTs fold. Damian Priest made the save with a chair before the group could finish him off.
Backstage – Sikoa vs. Priest Made
Tama Tonga told Solo that the family needed to prove they weren’t weak and ordered him to handle Damian Priest on his own. Sikoa agreed and went to Nick Aldis to make the match official.
Match 2 – Women’s United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) def. Lash Legend (9:06)
Lash Legend answered Stratton’s open challenge. The match featured ringside chaos: Nia Jax interfered, only for Chelsea Green to hurl Jax into the steel ring post. Legend grabbed Green by the hair, which allowed Stratton to roll Legend up for the pin. Rating: 2/5
Note: Many expected the open challenge to be Blake Monroe’s debut spotlight. WWE went a different direction.
Carmelo Hayes Calls Out Trick Williams
Trick Williams and Lil Yachty played to the crowd until Carmelo Hayes interrupted, telling Trick there’s a difference between carrying the belt and being a champion. Yachty produced Trick’s schedule (including hair and nail appointments) as a reason he was too busy to defend, but Hayes pushed Trick’s buttons by suggesting he was “always better at playing second fiddle.” Trick agreed to a title match on the spot.
Match 3 – United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) def. Carmelo Hayes (13:23)
Williams pinned Hayes with the Trick Shot. Ricky Saints interfered, ultimately costing Hayes the match and continuing to build his program with the challenger.
Match 4 – Charlotte Flair & Rhea Ripley def. Fatal Influence (Lainey Reid & Fallon Henley)
Flair and Ripley attempted to put aside their differences. After Charlotte was kicked off the apron in the final moments, an angry Flair tagged herself in just as Rhea was hitting Riptide, allowing The Queen to steal the pin with Natural Selection. Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab attacked afterwards, resulting in a wild brawl that ended with Jade hitting Jaded on The Eradicator.
Match 5 – Solo Sikoa def. Damian Priest
Sikoa won via Samoan Spike. The MFTs distracted and attacked Priest throughout the match and again after the bell, before Royce Keys ran out to make the save and briefly faced off with Sikoa, who rolled out of the ring.
Blake Monroe Debuts
Chelsea Green walked through the backstage area and was greeted by Blake Monroe – her official main roster debut. Nia Jax then attacked Green for her earlier assistance against Lash Legend. Several reviewers panned the muted debut, having expected Monroe to step up to the US Title open challenge.
Main Event – Cody Rhodes def. Sami Zayn (Non-Title)
Zayn worked over the leg with a Figure-4-Leg-Lock before Rhodes traded punches and landed a Disaster Kick. Gunther appeared and locked in the rear-naked choke, but Zayn accidentally knocked Gunther off the apron, allowing Rhodes to land Cross Rhodes for the win.
Post-match: Gunther attacked Rhodes after the bell. Sami stepped in but didn’t help Cody as Gunther locked in the sleeper hold – Sami exited the ring while Gunther put Cody to sleep and flaunted the Undisputed title to close the show.
Overall Show Grade
Yahoo Sports awarded the show 1.5/10, criticising the heavy reliance on referee distraction finishes and the underwhelming way Blake Monroe was introduced.
