A loaded episode of NXT broadcast on The CW and Netflix from the Performance Center in Orlando. Lola Vice headlined in a Women’s Title defense against Izzi Dame, the Men’s Speed Tournament progressed all the way to its final, and Tony D’Angelo’s title picture got a lot more crowded with the arrival of NARAKU and the announcement of Kam Hendrix as next week’s challenger.

Match 1 — Kelani Jordan def. Wren Sinclair (w/ Kendal Grey) via submission

A non-title opener with a clear story: Kelani Jordan targeted the visibly compromised left knee of Women’s Speed Champion Wren Sinclair throughout. Despite “Happy Birthday” chants from the Orlando crowd and a fired-up early flurry — including driving Jordan into the ring post and a back-drop on the floor — Sinclair couldn’t outrun the damage. Jordan locked in a single-leg Boston Crab over the top rope after the break, then transitioned through an STF before eventually trapping Sinclair in a Cloverleaf for the tap.

Smart psychology and a clean finish. Jordan looked vicious; Sinclair sold the leg consistently. A tidy way to start the show with the babyface tapping out paying off the body-part work.

Backstage Beats — Lizzy Rain, DarkState, Kali Armstrong

Lizzy Rain told Tatum Paxley she’d get her revenge on ZARIA. Tristan Angels showed up to mock Shiloh Hill’s Mr. NXT poll. DarkState (Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin & Cutler James) cut a promo with Lennox firing back at Saquon Shugars for casting him as the villain after last week’s ejection — declaring NXT hadn’t seen anything yet. Lola Vice checked in on Sinclair until Kali Armstrong interrupted to put the champ on notice.

Match 2 — WWE Men’s Speed Tournament: Sean Legacy vs. Dorian Van Dux ended in a Time-Limit Draw

The Belgian Van Dux and Legacy went the full distance with neither able to put the other away. A draw is an unusual finish for a tournament bracket, and it’s not yet clear how WWE will resolve the bye — presumably both men are out, though that wasn’t spelled out on air.

Hard to grade a draw without a finish to anchor it. The work was reportedly fine, but a time-limit draw on TV that takes two competitors out of a tournament can feel like a flat resolution unless there’s follow-up.

Jaida Parker def. Layla Diggs (w/ Nattie)

The newly debuting Layla Diggs — fresh off an eye-catching floating moonsault on WWE Evolve a week earlier — was accompanied by Natalya, who joined her ringside after thanking her in the locker room for standing up to Parker. Diggs landed a Booker T-style leg lariat early, but Parker overpowered her, landing a corner tear drop, avoiding Diggs’ moonsault, and finishing with Hipnotic into Sky High.

A spotlight loss for Diggs that still gave her shine on debut. Parker rolls on as the established main-roster-level threat.

Mid-Show — Tony D’Angelo, NARAKU & Kam Hendrix

D’Angelo, ditching the fur coat for the Florida summer, came out for a promo and was interrupted by NARAKU declaring he was here to “go to war.” Kam Hendrix then appeared to announce he’d be challenging D’Angelo for the NXT Championship next week (June 2). NARAKU positioned himself as protector with the line, “I am here to keep you and your title safe.” A genuinely well-built three-way dynamic going into next week’s title bout.

DarkState then attacked Myles Borne and Tavion Heights backstage, escalating their stable warfare. Tate Wilder also challenged Jackson Drake to a match for next week.

Match 4 — WWE Men’s Speed Tournament Finals: Romeo Moreno (w/ Noam Dar) def. Nathan Frazer (w/ Axiom)

Nathan Frazer returned to NXT for this one with Axiom in his corner, taking on Romeo Moreno backed by Noam Dar — making this effectively a Meta-Four-flavoured affair. Frazer hit a Spanish Fly counter as Moreno climbed for a springboard, but Moreno stole it in the closing seconds with a quick roll-up to become the new Number One Contender to the Men’s Speed Title.

Frazer and Moreno are both natural fits for the format, and the roll-up finish protects Frazer while giving Moreno (and Dar) the heel win. The cleanest match of the night on paper.

More Mid-Show Beats — ZARIA, Spears Attack, Kali Armstrong

Shiloh Hill tried to get ZARIA’s signature for the Mr. NXT petition; she rebuffed him and reiterated she’s coming for the Women’s North American Title. Then Shawn Spears attacked OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) with a chair before their scheduled match with The Culling, causing the match to be cancelled outright. Kali Armstrong followed with a promo declaring she’d win both the Women’s North American Title and the Women’s Title — leaving Thea Hail visibly confused.

Match 5 — Charlie Dempsey (w/ Stacks, Lexis King, Uriah Connors & Arianna Grace) def. Shiloh Hill

Birthright did Birthright things — Dempsey, flanked by the whole faction, beat Shiloh Hill in a sturdy mid-card outing. Afterwards, Tristan Angels announced a Mr. NXT pageant in two weeks (now confirmed for June 9), pulling Hill’s storyline arc into something less about wrestling and more about character spectacle.

Dempsey is one of NXT’s most reliable workers and Hill brings energy. Faction-heavy ringside presence kept it grounded as more story than wrestling showcase.

Main Event — NXT Women’s Championship: Lola Vice (c) def. Izzi Dame (w/ Shawn Spears & Niko Vance) to retain

Vice’s first big TV defense after her recent run, against a physically much bigger Izzi Dame backed by Spears and Vance. By all accounts a tense match that lived up to its billing — Vice surviving Dame’s size-based offense and the Culling’s threat at ringside to retain. Bridges nicely into her crossover appearance at AAA’s Noche de los Grandes on Saturday, where she’s also a Mixed Tag Team Champion.

Solid main-event title match. Vice’s striking against Dame’s power makes for a clear contrast, and the live crowd was reportedly invested throughout.

• Next week (June 2): Tony D’Angelo defends the NXT Championship against Kam Hendrix, with NARAKU lurking. A Men’s Speed Title match has also been confirmed for the show. Tate Wilder vs. Jackson Drake is set.
