WWE’s biggest event of the year returned to Las Vegas for the first time since WrestleMania IX, spreading across two nights at Allegiant Stadium in front of a combined attendance of 124,693 fans. WrestleMania 41 — also billed as WrestleMania Vegas — was a weekend that saw six new champions crowned across 14 matches.
Night One — Saturday, April 19
World Heavyweight Championship: Jey Uso def. Gunther (c) via submission
The opener delivered in a big way. Gunther used his strength advantage to punish Uso with his razor-like chops, and seemingly had the match won with a title belt shot and a splash, but Uso refused to stay down — eventually levelling the champion with a powerbomb, a spear, a trio of Uso Splashes, and a sleeper hold to force the tap. A genuinely great moment and a first-rate opener.
World Tag Team Championship: The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) def. The War Raiders (c)
The crafty New Day eventually hit a brutal assisted Double Stomp combo to win the match and claim their 12th reign. Solid but a little flat following the emotional high of the opener.
Jade Cargill def. Naomi
A serviceable grudge match that served more as a character showcase for Cargill than a showcase of in-ring quality.
United States Championship: Jacob Fatu def. LA Knight (c)
Fatu was his usual dominant self, launching Knight with a massive Pop-Up Samoan Drop. A key reversal gave Knight a window, including an Avalanche Belly-To-Back Suplex, but even a BFT couldn’t keep The Samoan Werewolf down. Fatu hit two gravity-defying Moonsaults to win the title. Fatu continues to look like a star-in-the-making.
El Grande Americano def. Rey Fenix
El Grande Americano used underhanded tactics to defeat late-replacement Rey Fenix. A brief, throwaway match that felt out of place on a WrestleMania card.
WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) def. Charlotte Flair
The right result — Stratton needed to come through this — but the match didn’t quite reach the heights the matchup promised. Charlotte looked credible but the bout felt a little flat.
Triple Threat Match: Seth Rollins def. Roman Reigns and CM Punk
The best match of the weekend by some distance. Rollins, Reigns and Punk took the fight to the arena floor, through the crowd, back into the ring, and through a couple of announce tables. Dramatic near-falls, superb timing, and an engaging narrative threaded throughout made this one of WrestleMania’s finest main events. The defining moment came when Paul Heyman turned on both Punk and Reigns to side with Rollins, protecting both men in defeat while setting the table for multiple future feuds. Exceptional.
Night Two — Sunday, April 20
Women’s World Championship: IYO SKY (c) def. Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley
Night Two opened with a five-star-calibre triple threat. SKY, Ripley and Belair took each other to the limit, performing jaw-dropping moves that left the ring looking like a car crash. The EST nailed a KOD on IYO, only for Ripley to counter — but SKY soared with an Over the Moonsault to break up the pin and retain her title. An instant classic and arguably the match of the entire weekend.
Sin City Street Fight: Drew McIntyre def. Damian Priest
Priest drove McIntyre through an announce table with a Razor’s Edge, but The Scottish Warrior kept fighting. McIntyre ultimately pushed Priest off the ropes and sent him crashing through two tables at ringside before finishing him with a Claymore with a steel chair behind Priest’s head. Brutally entertaining.
Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way: Dominik Mysterio def. Bron Breakker (c), Finn Bálor, and Penta
A chaotic multi-person affair that produced some standout moments and a surprising result. Dirty Dom winning the IC title is a bold call.
Randy Orton def. Joe Hendry (Open Challenge)
A feel-good moment with Hendry answering the open challenge and getting a WrestleMania moment against a legend. Orton goes over but Hendry earned admirers.
Logan Paul def. AJ Styles
A solid mid-card match. Paul continues to impress for someone so new to professional wrestling. AJ, as ever, made him look credible.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Becky Lynch & Lyra Valkyria def. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (c)
The return of Becky Lynch was a massive moment, but the match itself was somewhat rushed. Lynch trapped Morgan in the Dis-arm-her, and followed with a Man-handle Slam on Morgan to win the titles, with Valkyria becoming a double champion.
Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena def. Cody Rhodes (c)
A controversial main event. Cena needed help from rapper Travis Scott, a low blow, and a shot with the title belt to defeat Rhodes and earn his record 17th world title, breaking the tie with Ric Flair. The storytelling was there — Cena’s heel turn has been well-built — but the execution left much to be desired, and having a celebrity be a deciding factor in a WrestleMania main event landed poorly.
