REVIEW
WrestleMania weekend has come and gone, along with the usual shocks and shake-ups we expect at this time of year. What will the fallout look like on the silver and black brand? Let’s find out.
The hype package does a sinisterly stellar job of selling the stakes for tonight’s matchups, with a casket match and a Last Woman Standing showdown on offer.
NXT North American Champion Myles Borne is out first and we are kicking things off with a championship bout.
NXT North American Championship Match
Myles Borne (c) def. Dion Lennox
Lennox is out last, for some reason, with his Retribution, sorry, Dark State stablemates. Both men start with some menacing intensity before Lennox drops the champ with a big spinebuster. Myles fires back with some babyface energy and a beautiful dropkick. The Orton comparisons are more than fair. Lennox hits a bridging Northern Lights suplex for the first near fall.
A huge leap onto Lennox and Dark State follows, but a stare down allows Lennox to regain control, throwing Borne into the exposed apron edge. I get Booker’s detractors. Sometimes his tangents wander, but his passion is infectious.
Borne starts to rally before getting planted onto the steel steps with a back body drop. Lennox talks trash before hitting a rebound sit-down powerbomb for another near fall. Another spinebuster attempt is reversed into a tornado DDT. Borne fires back with a backbreaker and a fireman’s carry neckbreaker for two.
More Dark State interference allows Lennox to crotch Borne on the top rope and hit a superplex. We get kneeling strike exchanges as both men collapse after a double clothesline. Dark State interferes again, but Borne fights them off, sends Lennox into his own teammate, then catches him with Borne Again for the win. Dark State looks stunned.
Backstage, Blake Monroe is monologuing with the Vanity Project and her newly won NXT Women’s North American Championship. They offer support as Joe Hendry and Keanu Carver pass by.
Robert Stone is seen with Dark State while Tatum Paxley and Shiloh Hill hype the casket match and next week’s bout.
Keanu Carver def. Joe Hendry
Hendry is out first, with Booker singing along to his theme. Carver enters to a quieter response, likely a tired crowd after a packed weekend.
Hendry starts strong with chops and early control, reversing a shoulder block into a chop block and pin attempt. Carver responds with corner offense and a boot to the throat, followed by heavy Irish whips and a gut wrench stretch.
Hendry fights back with a drop toe hold and nearly sets up a 619, but takes too long playing to the camera and gets dumped outside.
Back from break, Hendry throws elbows but eats a German suplex. Carver targets the back with old school psychology. Hendry counters using momentum, sending Carver shoulder first into the post. He rallies with a discus clothesline and fallaway slam, but gets cut off by a huge clothesline and spinebuster.
Carver unloads with repeated elbows until the referee stops the match, giving him a decisive win.
A retro vignette introduces Lizzy Rain, debuting next week. Formerly Rayne Leverkusen, it will be interesting to see how she lands in NXT.
The BirthRight head to the ring next.
WWE Speed Championship Tournament Final
Lexis King def. E.K. Prosper
Prosper enters to a lukewarm reaction. King stalls early before Prosper hits a quick flurry, including a dropkick and springboard leg drop. King retreats to his faction as numbers come into play.
King regains control with a running dropkick in the corner. The two trade offense as the clock winds down. Prosper pushes the pace, but interference from Arianna Grace shifts momentum.
Prosper wipes out BirthRight on the outside but walks into a kick. King hits the Coronation and escapes with the title.
Backstage, the Vanity Project consoles Jackson Drake after a failed date setup. The segment leans into awkward territory.
Blake Monroe enters in a mix of mourning and bridal attire ahead of the casket match.
Tension builds within Dark State as Saquon Shugars is gifted a title shot over his Dark State stable leader.
A Raw recap shows Sol Ruca’s debut being interrupted by Zaria.
Tatum Paxley enters, dressed in black. Mike Rome handles formal introductions.
NXT Women’s North American Championship
Casket Match
Tatum Paxley def. Blake Monroe
They start with a stare down. Monroe teases the casket early before retreating. Paxley uses a bouquet as a weapon and slams Monroe into the casket lid.
A dollhouse comes into play, with Monroe eventually dropkicking Paxley into it. After the break, Paxley nearly seals it with a German suplex and casket spot.
Both women tumble into the casket, but Monroe escapes. Paxley counters a Glamour Shot attempt with a huge Spanish Fly to the floor.
Monroe uses a fire extinguisher and hits her DDT, but Paxley blocks the lid with the title. After a struggle, Paxley hits a Cemetery Drive onto spilled “diamonds,” then finishes Monroe in the casket for the win.
More Vanity Project footage reveals Shiloh and an AI chatbot were behind the earlier setup. Strange stuff.
Lola Vice addresses the division as double champion, calling out challengers. Izzi Dame interrupts, setting up a confrontation. The Culling distracts Vice, allowing Dame to lay her out and stand tall.
Backstage, Lexis King denies controversy as Prosper and Dorian Van Dux issue a challenge.
A Kendal Grey Chronicle airs.
Chaos erupts backstage as Ricky Saints attacks Shiloh Hill.
Sol Ruca makes her entrance, possibly her final NXT appearance.
Zaria follows. Main event time.
Main Event: Last Woman Standing Match
Zaria def. Sol Ruca
Zaria’s early ambush fails as Sol fires off with a Thesz press and a corkscrew splash. Zaria answers with a big boot and weapon use, including a trash can and cables.
Ruca rallies with strikes, a sit-out X-Factor, and kendo stick shots. Zaria survives and counters a powerbomb setup.
The action spills into the crowd and through structures, including a spear through a wall and an F5 through the announce table.
Ruca fights back with a German suplex and sets up tables, but Zaria recovers. A high platform sequence leads to a Sol Snatcher out of nowhere.
Both struggle to their feet. Ruca shows mercy during an emotional moment, but Zaria betrays her, sending Ruca crashing through tables with a brutal finish.
Zaria wins. Ruca appears to say goodbye as Zaria stands over the destruction.
Final Thoughts
A strong post-WrestleMania showing from NXT. This was an action-heavy, story-driven show that highlighted the brand’s strengths.
The casket match and main event both delivered emotionally and physically, making the show worth watching. The Vanity Project segments were hit and miss, and some matches could have used more time, but those are minor issues.
Overall, a solid outing that signals a clear shift in the roster and direction moving forward.
