WWE NXT kicked off its two-week Revenge special on Tuesday night with a show that had genuine purpose behind it. With Stand & Deliver in the rear-view mirror, this was the first proper episode of the post-WrestleMania season for the black and gold brand, and for the most part it delivered exactly what it needed to — movement on key feuds, two title defences, and enough seeds planted to make Week Two feel essential.

Kelani Jordan and Jaida Parker opened the show and set a solid tone. This was a rivalry that had been simmering for weeks, and both women came out with clear intent. Jordan’s leg work was the story of the match — methodical, sustained, and smartly executed. She kept Parker grounded and compromised throughout, and when Parker tried to hit her Hipnotic finish off the top, the knee gave out and she crashed into an exposed turnbuckle. Jordan capitalised immediately with her Split-legged Moonsault to pick up the win. A well-structured opener that played the feud’s history well without overstaying its welcome.

The Speed Title Tournament got underway with EK Prosper facing debuting Belgian superstar Dorian Van Dux in a brief but entertaining round one contest. Van Dux showed some early flash and looked confident on debut, but a missed Shooting Star Press proved costly and Prosper punished him with a crisp Moonsault to advance to the final. Short, functional, and kept things moving.

The main event of the first hour was effectively the Tony D’Angelo and Ethan Page NXT Championship match, and it was the most complete bout of the night. D’Angelo has hit the ground running as champion and looked comfortable leading a big match. Page, for his part, threw everything at him — including literally using the championship belt itself as a weapon, landing an Ego’s Edge onto the title — but couldn’t put D’Angelo away. The real story unfolded at ringside, where Shiloh Hill emerged from under the ring to hogtie Ricky Saints and drag him away, neutralising Page’s support system. From there it was only a matter of time, and D’Angelo sealed the win with a Spear followed by Dead to Rights. A well-booked defence that protected both men and continued to build The Family as a serious force.

In between the two title matches, Joe Hendry gave the crowd a concert — and it turned into one of the more memorable segments of the night. Hendry, dealing with the public reality of losing the NXT title at Stand & Deliver, addressed it head-on before launching into a song about D’Angelo, Saints, and Page. Keanu Carver interrupted and things turned violent quickly. Hendry cracked two guitars across Carver’s back and the big man barely flinched — instead he sent Hendry and a group of security guards through the barricade with a spear. Carver looks like a genuine monster and this segment did a tremendous job of establishing that. The follow-up announcement of Hendry vs. Carver for Week Two of Revenge was the right call.

The Myles Borne and DarkState segment produced good drama too. Borne opened up about how Dion Lennox overshadowed his Stand & Deliver win over Johnny Gargano by calling his shot immediately after, and called Lennox out for it. Lennox tried to keep DarkState in check, but Saquon Shugars wasn’t having it and launched himself at the North American Champion — only to get taken out instantly. The seeds of dissension within DarkState are being planted, and a Borne vs. Lennox title match next week is a compelling prospect.

Kali Armstrong made her NXT debut against Skylar Raye in a brief showcase that served its purpose. Armstrong looked powerful and composed, and the Kali Connection finish was impactful enough to leave an impression. Raye put up more of a fight than expected and didn’t embarrass herself, but this was a debut designed to get Armstrong over and it succeeded.

The show closed with the NXT Women’s Championship match between Lola Vice and Jacy Jayne, and it was a solid title defence to cap a productive night. Vice’s striking offence was the focal point, and Jayne forced her to work for the win with some clever ringside interference from Lainey Reid — including a well-timed distraction that allowed Jayne to land a big running knee. It wasn’t enough, though, as Vice recovered and put the challenger away with her Spinning Backfist.

The post-match scene was chaotic in the best way. Kali Armstrong came out swinging, laying out members of Fatal Influence on the floor before squaring up to Vice, Kendal Grey, and Izzi Dame all at once. Meanwhile, Sol Ruca and Zaria brawled to close the show in a sea of bodies. The women’s division looks stacked and unpredictable heading into Week Two.

Also noteworthy from a storyline perspective: Blake Monroe demanded a rematch for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, and Tatum Paxley granted it — on the condition that she chose the stipulation. That stipulation? A Casket Match. It’s an unusual choice for NXT but Paxley’s character lends itself to it perfectly.

All in all, NXT Revenge Week One was a confident start to the post-WrestleMania stretch. The two title matches did their jobs, the roster is clearly in a state of exciting transition, and the booking set up Week Two with purpose. Good television.
