Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite was a special three-hour edition, with one hour of Collision airing immediately after. The show was dedicated to the memory of Ted Turner, who passed away at 87 years old. Tony Schiavone opened the evening with a tribute to the late WCW founder, bringing out Sting to share memories. The evening closed with a ten-bell salute.

AEW Continental Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley def. Juice Robinson via submission (Bulldog Choke) (14:42)

Robinson has had inconsistent booking in AEW due to injuries, but this felt like a real showcase for the man who was so successful in Japan — a genuine threat to Moxley. The two had history going back over a decade, and these two were in a shootout to get the night started. Robinson sent Moxley out of the ring with a catapult then came flying off the apron with a cannonball to the floor. Moxley retained with the Bulldog Choke. If you like watching two guys who are a little off in the head beat each other up, this one is for you.

Double Jeopardy: Orange Cassidy def. Dax Harwood via pinfall (12:09)

An all-out brawl ensued after the match. RPG Vice was laid out by The Conglomeration, Cage & Cope, and The Young Bucks. Cassidy’s team now earns a shot at FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championships.

AEW International Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) def. Bryan Keith via pinfall (10:17)

Okada retained with Don Callis and Lance Archer in his corner. Okada said he was coming for the AEW World Title. Backstage, Konosuke Takeshita said Kazuchika shouldn’t be worried about the world title, he should be worried about defending his International title against him at Double or Nothing. Andrade El Idolo asked how Callis knew Okada was the hand-picked choice, before walking off.

Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander def. Mina Shirakawa & Harley Cameron via pinfall (11:09)

A follow-up to last week’s failed title challenge for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships. Shida and Statlander needed to get on the same page following post-show comments last week in which Statlander blamed Shida for the loss to Divine Dominion.

AEW World Championship: Darby Allin (c) def. Kevin Knight via pinfall (15:33)

The match of the night. Despite a spirited effort from the red-hot TNT Champion, AEW World Champion Darby Allin was able to turn Knight away to retain his world title. After the match, MJF came out to demand a rematch, offering his scarf, then the Dynamite Diamond Ring, then a million dollars. Allin turned them all down, saying he wanted MJF to put his hair on the line. A contract signing is tentatively scheduled for next week. Kazuchika Okada came out to challenge Allin for the AEW World Title next week on Dynamite, which Allin accepted. PAC also cut a promo claiming a title shot, pointing to his 2-1 singles record against the champion.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey def. AR Fox via pinfall (7:33)

Fox scored a crafty DDT out of the corner, then a corkscrew brainbuster. Bailey scored the Moonsault Knee Drop out of the corner for the pinfall win. Fox continues to be one of the craftiest, most interesting names in the ring.

Jamie Hayter def. Skye Blue via pinfall (9:20)

Blue trapped Hayter in the corner for a Cheeky Nandos Kick, with the women going back and forth with strikes. Their battle ended with Hayter scoring an avalanche Hayterade for the pinfall. Afterwards, Thekla and Julia Hart were shown watching from the stands, and Hayter dropped Blue with another Hayterade as she stared them down.

RUSH def. Manny Lo via pinfall (0:48)

RUSH needed less than a minute, putting away Lo with his meteora finisher. RUSH got on the mic after to remind everyone that “when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.”

10-Man Tag: Young Bucks & Bang Bang Gang def. Death Riders & The Dogs via pinfall (14:20)

The fight started in the aisle when the heels attacked the babyfaces during their entrance. Tags were basically factored out of this match — nobody cared who was supposed to be legal, and it never settled down to just two men in the ring.

Also on the show: Ricochet challenged Jericho and partners of his choosing to a Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing — the match Jericho himself created six years ago. Jericho tried to take down The Demand but the numbers game got the better of him before The Hurt Syndicate made the save. Will Ospreay’s status was updated — if his upcoming MRI comes back clear, he will be cleared to compete. The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Anthony Bowens) extended an offer for Ospreay to join their group, with Joe warning it was the last time he would extend his hand before he extended his fist.
